Hey Edgar. I retested those no boot set of ram sticks, and yeah they were finicky. Oddly posted on an Intel test bench, but then failed under stress test immediately, and no boot on my AMD test bench. Did post on my rig, but one of the sticks would post and show up in bios, but none of the ram was accessible. Im guessing good ole old school Static disharge damage. It is Ram afterall, and its a volatile component. Ended up having Corsair RMA'ing the kit. So the kit was defective, My bad. Happy to have replaced them and your project completed!! Looks Good!! And thanks for the Blessings!! :D
PLEASE do more used market PC builds!! I just love that not only we get to see you interact with some fans, fellow PC builders and tech enthusiasts, but this video kinda inspired me to venture in the used market. It's really a gamble because there can be some great deals, but do you trust it?
Would love to see this as a series. Think a lot of people live in the used parts space. Trouble shooting is a huge part of building too. This is the stuff people need more coverage for. Keep putting love and positivity into the world ✌️
As someone who flips PCs , I've dealt with a lot of RAM issues, especially with Ryzen chips. Particularly with the older generations the memory controllers aren't exactly great, and RAM compatibility is always an issue. I won't declare a set of RAM dead until I've at least tried it with an updated BIOS (which I do on all boards anyway), as that often hugely improves RAM compatability with Ryzen. I've also had a lot of issues with Corsair Vengeance LPX. It's cheap RAM. i've experienced exactly your issue - no POST with a Ryzen CPU and Corsair LPX, which then worked fine after a BIOS update. Live and learn. A lot of rookie mistakes were made but you did well anyway (especially that case...). You can learn a TON doing this, BTW. Especially troubleshooting lol... Would make a good series. Few tips: RAM and storage are so cheap right now that it's best to just go new with them. Saves you headaches, and time. If you're flipping, add some $20 cable extensions and a $20 CPU cooler with some RGB and not only will it sell much faster, but you'll get a better price (more than what the cxooler and extensions cost). The markets will vary but you should be able to get $700-800 for that PC at least - *IF* you added those cosmetics and had a good listing. I do similar builds all the time, there's actually a pretty big market for those types of PCs. A lot of people can't afford more.
So on the point. There are updated compatibility lists for ram with bios numbers. Should check them out before buying, saves a lot of unnecessary sweating.
As a pc builder of 18 years, I have only seen ram issues with intel kits on AMD builds. The double or triple reboot on the motherboard was definitely ram training/testing from AMD's bios settings. Some kits do work with AMD and vice-versa, depending on the cpu sku from either side. I did find your vod from my recommended, and was highly impressed with the content you're making. I love it!
@@Eternal.002its kinda like you said man, it mainly depends on what gpu you get and matching it from that point, like you run games like that really well w a 6800xt and a ryzen 7 5800x or intel i5-13600k and not have to worry ab upgrading cpus for a long time
Love the concept and hope you a series just like this. Under a grand would really help out parents, family, friends, etc. especially showing a way to make it unique! ❤
“Boot or bust” would be my name suggestion. I think it would be cool to do this in different price budgets, or constrain yourself to hit certain performance numbers. Maybe in the future use specific apps to make your deals to make it more challenging? I.e just offer up, just Mercari, just marketplace etc. could also do full setup challenges including peripherals. This inspired me to search for deals to refresh my PC. 7 years strong but definitely showing it’s age with new games.
Trash or treasure is a good ish name for that if you do make it a series. Would love to see a series out of this the second hand market doesn’t get as much attention as it should, not all of them are scammers and as this video proves there are bargains to be had!
Hello Hello From Canada!!! IT IS REALLY NICE TO SEE RU-vidRS LIKE YOU MAKING REAL USED PART SYSTEMS!! I love the high end systems you make, but it is hard to find youtube creators making systems that reflect some real world situations where prices and availability make it hard to build. The greatest thing by far, was when you let new builders know the rule of building a great system "FUTURE UPGRADABILITY". When you explained that by starting with the Ryzen 5 3600 and a better quality motherboard, lets you game now, while saving up to buy a much better CPU down the road. I love AM4 and they just released two more new CPUs to make older systems rock even better by upgrading and updating the BIOS. Keep up the awesome content and I can't wait to see more episodes on your channel. Stay safe, stay healthy and I hope you are as happy as you possibly can be. 🤘😁👍
Love all of your videos. Seeing you build this pc gives me hope knowing it is possible to build a good pc on a super budget. If you are looking to keep these types of builds going I think the series should be called Trash to Treasure.
This is another thing I don't like buying used parts... People don't include the boxes. I always include the boxes when I sell my used parts. I always keeps the boxes safe and put them in a plastic bag like garbage bags and label them, so that they don't get dusty.
For everyone I do pc work for or networking or whatever. I always tell them to keep their boxes. It actually ups the resale value in the tech world. I always appreciate it.
I hope you decide to make this into a series! I recently built a PC from used and new parts and found the used market to be full of value right now. I bought an ROG X470 mobo with a R5 2600x for $90!
just started watching your content thank you for being straight too the point and really good at being entertaining its nice too see some different mixtures
Yeah, Please make this a series i enjoy watching these videos and learning tips and tricks to improve my own setup for very little money! I think you should name it Used Builds
I love this this new idea for a series, i know it might take more work than some other videos but i was glued to this through out! Plus as someone who also likes buying, building and reselling pc's as a hobby i can very much relate to everything in this video. My last build was actualy very similar to this one in both components and price (r5 3600 with a NZXT kraken x53 240, gigabyte rx 5700 xt gaming oc, 16gb ddr4 3200mhz, a 120gb ssd (corsair force) and a 1tb wd green hhd, corsair cs850m and the fractal design define c tempered glass for about 320 bucks), it works great and i decided to use it as my second pc and not sell it. (btw i live in sweden and finding used parts can be very hard here)
I've been watching your content for a while and love set up wars. This was a great video to see what it is like to game on a budget and marketplace is great for doing this exact thing. Would love to see more content like this and see what computers you can build from used parts. There is definitely plenty of tech out there on the used market to build something epic.
Loved it. Please continue this series. I'm guessing a name like "Used Builds" should be good enough to explain it to new viewers looking at the second hand market.
I flipped 3-4 similar specd PC's for around $450-550. Just hard to find cheap am4 boards these days, everything else is around the price you bought them for. Rx 5700xt is the sweet spot for budget builds right now
Ngl this is my first time watching your channel... As a PC flipper myself I loved the energy and effort you put into the build as well as the care you showed to the customers and just the people around you. I'm subscribed, you'll get my views! :D
I pick up used components all the time and can tell you how often I ran into stuff like this at first. Any loose components, almost always require cleaning with some IPA, people are messy and stuff like this just gets left sitting out most of the time. Also, always pull the CMOS battery on any loose motherboard ahead of time on a fresh build, you have no idea what profile the previous owner used. Once I started cleaning everything, I think I only got screwed over maybe once in the past year on a MB, but luckily I know how to solder and was able to fix that as well.
Great Vidoes to be honest learning so much and you truly made me understand that i dont really got to go for a Huge budget as a start for gaming when i can afford pc's at such Low prices loved this video and love the "best gaming pc at '600$' etc" series truly great work Ed. Side note:Quite sure Sheila and Olivia are going to be raised with great Knowledge on the IT World hahahah they're adorable kids good job in parenting aswell Ed
I like these series as a dad who knows nothing about what is a decent setup and what not, i see these parts for sale all the time but have no clue what is good or not. So thank you :)
That's a really good idea for a series! I think you should show the process of every part like you did with the CPU(say how much you want to spend on the part, searching, say what are the options and the negotiations)
Awesome episode! This has given me so many ideas as far as selling my own used parts. Someone out there could benefit from it. We have to make this a series for sure, and perhaps a spin-off where you challenge the community in making their own budget build. I would call this series "Secondhand Setups".
Man, I wish I could get that lucky with the "timing" of sales... Finding good sellers who are always on time is always the hardest part.. great video Sir!
Awesome deal for that machine! I've recently built a system with mostly used parts and costed me around 500 bucks (3700x, 2070 Super, 32GB ram, 1TB NVME). However the used power supply got fried while stress testing the pc, fortunately did not damage anything and only the power supply got toasted. You can definitely save money buying used and over time I've learned a lot too.
Edgar pls continue this series I love it. Another good video and you were the reason I built my very first pc and helped me troubleshoot my pc so yeah thanks
As a on and off pc flipper what i usually do is price the parts new on pc part picker, and list for 75-90% of the total cost(depending on condition of parts) and typically get it sold after negotiating at 65-75% of the total cost of parts
This was a SUPER cool journey. Loved the editing and pacing too. If you're still looking for a name for the series - how about "Recycled Rigs" - has a nice ring to it lol
I'm glad prices are coming back down, and availability is going back up. I thought I did pretty good finding a system for $700 last year with a 5800X, Aorus Elite Wifi, 16 GB Corsair Vengeance RGB, 1TB WD Black, and RX 5700 XT Red Devil. I'm running 1440p pretty well. I did end up spending a bit more to upgrade the AIO, case (Fractal Design North) and PSU, but I used the old parts to put together another old 1080p capable PC to sell. I also figured out that the GPU was running hot because someone installed pads that were too thick, so I repasted with PTM 7950 and appropriate pads. The system runs well, now. Nice video!
Love this series! I rock a 3080 and a 5600 my whole pc is built from parts bought from FB marketplace so videos like these makes it feel more personal towards me I’m sure others may feel the same
I take the current market value of each used part (CEX or Ebay depending on location) and add a build fee to it. Make sure to count everything, fans, RGB all of that. On the flip side, after so many wins like this its good to find people who normally cant afford something high end and give them a killer deal. Like a younger kid or student that can use it for way more than just gaming. Those are my thoughts and that is how I roll. As far as the build fee price. That is going to differ from person to person. How much time did you invest in sourcing and building the system, travel expenses and all that needs to be taken into consideration if you plan on doing this over the long term. I sold around 70 some last year and I work alone and do it just cuz.
I’ve built a lot of computers using used parts, including some of parts for the one first pc I built with the help of a Techsource how to video. Always had good luck. Knock on wood. 😂
I got the best deal ever on offer up :) i7 8700k, gtx 1080 650w, psu x370 a-pro idk motherboard, 16gb ram 3000hz, be quite pure rock rgb cooler, weird 16gb optane ssd+256gb ssd+2tb hhd. It felt like straight robbery for $120. Doesn't end there tho its a whole setup - final mouse cape town sells used for 100, 1440p 165hz Dell v24gapu something numbers, Razer keyboard I forgot the name, Razer rgb mousepad, and a 5tb portable hard drive which added a +$10 so total was $130
I was also able to test it in person plus swap the case since I had a spare good rgb case with eh airflow and quality but better ish than the cyber power case (yes it was a prebuilt) also it came with a small 120mm CPU aircooler but I don't fw that never did and never will until I get my money up or want the headache when it fails. Oh so the CPU cooler and case I got off a friend since his pc broke down and wanted to upgrade a few parts (it was pretty much free) I could sell all of this but I might keep it to remember this unreal deal.
Ed, when buying on the used market if there is a rating system for the seller, I would also check that before buying anything. I got screwed over a few times and one time I had to involve the police because I payed a large sum of money, thankfully I got my money back.
You should totally make a series out of this. You live in California and have a great used market for pc parts, there is huge value in used builds and giving them a second life. I would watch it even though I still watch all of your content.
Would be cool to see an all Ebay auction video where you can only use parts you win from auction, no buy it nows. would be neat to see what comes out of it!
Bro a few of these parts you got were pretty bad deals. $40 for 3200mhz 16gb ram is almost the exact price for new. Also a new 5500 is $100, you should have been able to get one used for $70-$80. The graphics card was a decent deal tho. **edit** right after I typed that Edgar acknowledged that it was a bad deal so at least he realized it lol
i feel like he doesnt do much research into any of his vids in the last year or so, alot of things are so easily sorted if he just researched stuff and given hes a tech youtuber alot of the stuff he should just know.
as pc guy who usually buys used pc parts from offerup this video was so relatable and entertaining. we def need a series of this no doubt bro. i also stay in l.a area and hopefully will come accross u someday.
I’d be interested in including the price of peripherals with these builds too- I never anticipated spending as much as I did on it all outside of the pc alone
@@toad7395 if you're a competitive gamer whatsoever you're gonna need more then 100$ worth of peripherals. Hell i am a insanely budget gamer and my keyboard cost me 60$.
Awesome video man! I think this would be a great series, my first build was brand new except for 750w power supply and gtx 1080 that I pulled out of a low end computer I bought from a friend who used it for Diablo in 2018… I’d like to build another now that I’ve gotten my daughter into the PC gaming world lol I’ve thought using market place but kind of skeptical… thanks for sharing’
you honestly dont need the antennas if your somewhat close to the router. i used a motherboard with no antennas for months and never noticed a difference with speeds or lag.
To test on location it is possible to make a mobile test bench. So obviously it would have to be open board, and you'd have to cart around a battery backup and acdc power inverter, also some at least 1080p mobile monitor. It'd be a pain in the kiester but eh it can be done. Cool video, honestly ive had ram that won't work in one mobo but can work in another mobo. It's happened with DDR3 and 4, so one thing that happened was the xmp profile memory wasn't compatible with one amd mobo i had, I put the ram in a different amd mobo as well as an Intel based mobo and the ram did work in both other mobos. If I recall correctly, I got a GSkill sniper 2x4 1866 pair that would not work in an ASRock 970FXExtreme3 but it worked in a 990Extreme 4 and the oem i7 4790 build just fine. I ended up using a pair of Corsair in the 970Extreme 3 an the Corsair set detected at 1600 CL 9 with auto overclock on the mobo it bumped to 1800's but not quite 1866. The motherboard might not have been able to run the sniper ram, which ended up overclocking to over 2k on frequency on the 990Extreme4. Newer mobo, more current and complete support for ram etc. Anyway I find more problems with ram and motherboard's than anything else. A bump from 380 to 500 would be more reasonable and likely to sell faster. IMO
Yo I haven’t watched this dude in years. It’s crazy how they grow and then support is expected. No thanks or anything to all the people he met that said they watch you.
I just bought a full gaming pc and never thought to look until I got home , it was missing the WiFi antenna , so I bought them from Amazon for like $7 , hey it works so I’m not disappointed. It’s not as new as they told me but it runs the games I play so I’m ok until after Christmas and I can buy a new pre built or have my own built by Micro Center. Love the videos , the one video where u got emotional talking about your past kinda got to this old man , got a little teared up. The guy with the ram , he looked a little sketchy anyway. You’re lucky he responded , I’m never that lucky LOL. 👍👍👍✌️✌️✌️
I've been building and repairing PCs since 1996, and I've had more good luck than bad when using used parts for cheap builds. The 36 core / 72 thread dual Xeon rig I recently built has used CPUs and used RAM, and it's runs like a champ.
You should have only reseated one of those 3200mhz sticks to see if even one of them booted. It could have been a fluke motherboard issue with that particular die. This is rare but it does happen. Good video. I like your content and I wish you more success and happiness in your life.
I have 2 names for the series: 1. "BUDGET BUILDS" - Because your literaly building PC builds from budget parts 2. "TECH RESURRECT" (My personal favourite) - Many of the sellers said they not using it anymore so they would considered dead wieght (key word: dead) to them, but getting your hands on them and dealing with some of the issues that came with them, you eventually got them to come alive again (resurrect). Love your channel, much love from Namibia, Africa!
Watching this video and you giving the homeless guy money made my day. Not everyone who is blessed helps out those who are not! I have a lot of respect for you! Keep up the great content.
The ram thing happened to me as well, with Corsair vengeance RGB pro sl 32gb (4x8). I got a strap for $40, get home and doesn't boot... I tested one at a time and surprisingly they all booted by themselves! Tried All again and no boot AGAIN!! I scrubbed them down with rubbing alcohol and moved the seating a bit and boom worked like a dream! That was about $80 in savings at the time so I was hyped lol
Hey bud advice from a used pc builder and flipper here, WE normally purchase everything used ASIDE from the storage and RAM. It's just better for longevity and normally you save $5 on each. not worth it unless your doing a super budget DDR3 build. - Much love! Note - Also try for a new PSU that's slightly lower in wattage. Just a safer idea.
I build with used parts and it is a lot of fun. The excitement of getting a used build to work is great. I enjoy cleaning and repaste/repad components. Once in a while you will definitely get a bad item but I've had awesome luck for the most part. I do it as a hobby. Then sell them after a lil while to get money back and a little profit. Sorry you got a bad part on your first used build.
If you do go ahead with the series you should build a test setup you can bring with you to test the parts before buying. It will save a lot of frustration and headaches trying to meet up with the seller to swap or return if they answer back.
My first Pc build was mostly on Marketplace actually. I started out with an ASUS ROG Maximus 8 Hero, Intel i5 6600k, and an RX580 single fan from an OEM HP. I was so happy to finally build a PC myself.
I've been watching computer/tech channels on RU-vid since before RU-vid and have never heard of this channel. I've never heard any of the other channels even mention this channel as they all talk about each other time to time. What the hell. You a loan wolf? Great, another channel I have to subscribe to and watch regularly. 😉
