Loved hearing your piano man. His playing was beautiful. Now back to the van build. Things are coming along. It seems like way more work that I would want to do but you both seem to be ready to complete things and get back out on the road. You should be proud of what you are doing and have already gotten finished. Good job!
Temu are being investigated for forced labour, they’re yet to provide any evidence to the contrary. Until there is a definitive answer, I’d not risk it - but remember, there’s a reason they’re cheap.
Piano man was something special! What a lovely and very talented man and a lucky chance to meet him. Thank you for sharing, I enjoyed that so much. Good luck with the rest of the van build, you will be super fit walking up and down carrying all that gear!
The torches from temu dont last long. Everything they sell is cheap and doesnt last! Ive spent a fortune at Temu and everything broke. Take the sheep's wool out and use recyled bottle insulation. I used sheeps wool and it was soaking!
Gorgeous piano and man. On the sheep wool. I can tell you my experience. I aquired a barn of raw sheep wool. I teased it out, rinced it in barrels or rainwater, dried it in the sun, then used it, stuffed the walls floors and roof with raw wool, to insulate my 188sq ft cabin. 5 years on, Definetly Best!! decision i could have ever made. Its dry like a big wool sweater for the house. Its dampens sound, no gloves needed, no masks or special gear, 100% biodegradeable, no waste. It has a fire resistant quality. Baa, ram, ewe i think youll love it too.
Adding a wool insulation should be packed lightly. This allows the air in between the wool to absorb moisture, and dry out. If it is packed tight then it absorbs moisture then can't disperse because there is no air present....Hope that helps.🙂
I have converted two hiace vans to campers and 9 buses to motorhomes. For small space insulation use polystyrene spray. Comes in spray can with a long pipe to getinto small spaces. Wall n ceiling cladding I used 3mm caravan ply with a vinyl Finnish, light and easy to fix with no nails glue. No painting and wipe down cleaning.Roger
That conduit joins together really easily! Cut a little notch in one end and screw the two ends together, then just a little bit of electrical tape for extra security. Good work guys. Not sure if anyone has mentioned vapour barriers, don't bother. Air flow and ventilation is key.
What more does one need in a van but a piano. What a nice guy. Please don't doubt your ability to do van build, you both are more than capable, creative and adaptable. The van will look stunning. 💚
@@theexPAWersthe difference between you & professionals is that they did exactly the same thinking & finding out as you years ago so they don't have to do it again.
Nice work, don't overpack insulation. Wool should be laid smooth to the surface and not folded over in its self.Wool has natural oils but any moisture must be able to escape through airvents otherwise eventually you could have smells of damp ect. Love your videos
Keep the sheep wool loose. Fill it, but don't pack tight. The insulation value drops when it's "solid". We have a Relay/Jumper full of the stuff, and it's toasty.
Regarding sheep, when their wool coats become heavy with water they topple over onto their back, thats why if you see one in the farmers field on its back help put it back on its hoofs. so water resistant and breathable, mmmnm.
What a talented man playing the piano, could listen to him all day. Nice to see the van coming along. Think you’re both doing an awesome job. Please wear masks though. All that fine dust getting in your lungs is not good. Take care guys. Good to see the doggies ❤️
Francoise is a beautiful messenger reminding us to love life, art, music, the beautiful planet. First, love God with your entire heart and be eternally grateful for this gorgeous world and the senses to experience it!
😂😂.. It’s quite a challenge, takes along time to figure it all out, and we had a huge head start on others who do it from absolute scratch, hugely rewarding in the end though.. x
@theexPAWers I am just so Dang Proud of you guys. The really good part is.. you already know the things that do and do not work for you. You've already developed your own style. You guys GOT This. Talented and hard working... You'll get there all in good time. 👍 🪷 🙏
Hey guys just spotted you today just near Gibraltar I waved from the old Citroen van .we love watching your channel were living in Portugal after moving from UK a year ago.Your always welcome to stay at our land near Idanha a nova .Portugal when you get the new van on the road.we did a van build we know how much work is involved .Your doing a great job .Such a coincidence seeing you there today .keep at it you will get there .Are van is a 1992 Citroen, old school like Vinny so you know all about this story .Anyway enjoy your build and hopefully see you in persons one day .🥰
Hello!! Yes, we wondered if you guys knew who we were the way you waved! 😆😊.. Cool, thanks for the message, like your retro camper.. Awesome you guys have land up there in Portugal, love that area, would be great to meet up one day of our paths cross.. Happy travels guys.. 🚐💨
pleased you bumped into Francois the pianist 😊😊😊 and obtained his telephone number I’m an addicted oboist and would love to travel with it but oboe like piano due to materials they’re made of are not great with damp or heat… you joked about him having a vapour barrier but it was actually a valid question and the fact that he probably doesn’t and confident to bring his precious piano..has put me at ease … Great job btw floor looks fabulous !! I like the idea of wool insulation it’s non burnable and doesn’t soak up moisture it just rests on top and if not packed too tightly moisture will be able to release when air gets to it..
Merci Sarah and Nick (+ François). Lovely addition with the magical piano. You are doing great. Kudos for your perseverance. It will be lovely. Have a great week!
what a magical thing to do, play the piano outside at beautiful scenic locations. Sounds like a joyful dream, i would love to be in gran caneria at one of his concerts. your both doing so well with the van build x
it's an unusual piano that doesn't need retuning every single time it moves even a little bit & they're double strung so it's a genuinely skilled job that takes ages.
Great to see your progress, so exciting wool is versatile we bought a wool duvet just over a year ago I hate the artificial things we've got one in the motorhome too you are right it smells strongly of sheep, but somehow keeps you cooler in summer and warmer in winter. Love Dizzies singing they are so cute. We lost our much loved cat last year and a couple of weeks ago I caved in and got two new black kittens for some reason people don't want black cats as they are too plain. They are gorgeous and completely mad, Salem and Luna. Really looking forward to the end result of all your hard work see you next week love to the furbabies.
Hey sweeties, you are doing a marvellous job. One thing, I did have a moth plague last year, and now every time I see wool I think moths.😱 Is it a good idea to check out the risks and possibilities to prevent a moth infestion? Kudo's! ❤
50 days maybe show the whole process. It’s looks good. On the vehicle Schultz the underside and a service include a water pump. Many years of future travel experiences. .
Keep keeping on with your van revocation. I know you’ll be happy to hit the road again. I enjoyed meeting Francois. He is amazing - he’s found what brings him joy
Holes stuffed, Wood sealed (wish I'd made that suggestion earlier, glad to see it wasnt just me) coming along nicely. nice mix of solvents. Keep the doors open while it goes off but you know that already. Looking good. If you get a grand piano, it may double as a bed.
Me own Landy , half way through head gasket rebuild with some new to me technolgy in the head gasket area. before getting ready for this seasons camping have a victron upgradde for the solar only a 75/15 mppt but waiting to try out@@theexPAWers
Hello, I have been following your channel for a long time. But here is my opinion on the topic of wool in campers. A sheep produces fat and thereby prevents wet fur. But a sweater made of sheep's wool gets wet in the rain! That's why, in my opinion, sheep's wool doesn't belong in a camper. The wool soaks itself full. It's better to try it by wetting the wool and see what happens. It is not too late yet.
Thanks for your support and good point, but our wool isn't going to get rained on and we've heard good things about the moisture management qualities of sheeps wool, so may leave it in.
Something useful for the van from Temu are the strip USB lights that would be perfect. You can set them to come on automatically when you pass them or have them on constant. £2.98 each!! I have 7 around the house so never need to switch a light on!!
I'm so glad you demonstrated the Temu camping lamp cos I ordered one few days ago. I also have the same slippers they are cosy. Love watching Yr van build and look forward to seeing the end result ❤
I got all of my USB lights and Bluetooth receivers from Temu. Very cheap too. I have about 12m of LED strips in total on 5 receivers that allow me to change colour etc. all from my phone.
@@NomaddUK they sound like fun. Mine are 12" strip lights to put under kitchen units, etc. I also bought a teddy fleece zipped jacket, LOVE IT so bought another to wear while one is in the wash. I have to force myself to stay away otherwise I'd never stop buying!!
Have you thought about joining a fitness club for showers that has branches throughout Europe and that way you’d have so much more room inside. You could also fit an outdoor shower for when you go off road, I’d definitely have a composting toilet inside though. A shower inside is nice, but you’d only be using it for 10 to 20 minutes of your day and would take up such a large space for minimum use, whereas you could build more storage, bench space whatever, instead. Something else you could incorporate is the bed being raised up to the ceiling during the day and lowered at night. If you watch the Beans latest travel vlog, they are in one at the moment! Whatever you decide to do I’m sure it will turn out great. So many good ideas out there, incorporating them all would be mind blowing lol.
Really enjoyed the vlog , piano man wow, We're also building our van (still) using ecoflow pro, we will be running the wiring surface in copper pipes, always enjoy your vids/vlogs, its an age thing 😂Arlene and Spider
I´m in a 5 star hotel in Mauritius and so missing my BetseyBlue Campervan and Pablo the Pomchi. I really am not into the regimental 5 star treatment. I would rather be on a random beach in my beautiful van. Good vibes guys, keep it going. x
Sarah and nick please be careful where you put the wool don't put it where you will have cables .my ex had a car with speakers on the back window and had like fur around it and it burst into flames as he was driving with me and him and the kids in the car it was awful.we had to get out the car and rip it all out was very scary.so please be careful x
The only thing I know for 100% is that no kind of insulation should be compressed the air is the secret to insulation . your fine as i can see good job on the floor. Happy trails.
Loved Francois the piano man, thats brilliant. 😍 Van looking good, like Nick said when he put the carpet down, it almost seems a shame to cover that floor. Wool contains lanolin, which is waterproof. And lanolin is the stuff lanoguard (non-petroleum alternative to waxoyl) is made from. 🙂
Ok awesome! Thanks so much for the info, as you probably noticed we just got Lanoguard delivered to do the underside, we’ll share how that goes in a future vlog! 😊
@@theexPAWers all super exciting! 🤩 My van, being a Japanese import, is treated with lanoguard underneath, does seem to do the job. Mine is re-done annually.
Looking good guys, keep it up at this pace and you’ll make your deadline. Interesting use of sheep’s wool, should be well cosy. Take care and catch you soon again. 😊
Keep up the good work guys, great stuff. I think it was the smell of the wood stain/solvents in the confined area that made you feel 🤔 unwell. Take care guys 👍🐸
Good morning, hope you are getting on well with your rebuild. Just wanted to thank you for recommending TEMU - we are hooked, like you said we would be!! All the best and looking forward to next Thursdays episode ❤
Good little tip re laying cables in situ before furniture build. Lay hide run as many cables as you can the more the merrier. Overkill as the say if they don’t get used just leave them hidden better than stripping out if don’t have enough hope this helps Lokking grand what you so far take care be good. Xx gadgit xx
Don't put you air fryer under a plywood shelf heat will warp the higher plywood - instead use it to store the air fryer and then bring it up to countertop for cooking 😊😊
I cannot overstate how much I love you two. xxx Don't worry about how everyone else builds theirs. For example, I have almost finished mine now (Same van as yours) but didn't put ANY electrics or plumbing in until last. I left cable holes and 45 degree panels across the ceiling edges to allow me to add it all at the end and it is all hidden and yet easier to access than if it was behind walls. This significantly reduced the time to have a liveable van build. Also, it allowed me to decide at the last minute where I wanted sockets etc. and can drill anywhere without worrying about where the wires or pipes are. BTW - that red and blue t-shirt combo at the end is just perfect. Your van is going to be amazing. I can tell.
awwwww, Thankyou! Yeah we’re going to have all our cables running along the top like you so there’s no rush as we’re kinda doing the lower half of the van first, had a few comments from folk saying we’re doing it wrong but most people think we’re doing great so all good and we think we know what we’re doing 😂😂.. Have a lovely weekend ☺️☺️xx
Luv you both.I like the planned window positions and would install the biggest sun roof for interior light and roof access from the bed for better outlooks. Doing a great job.
Thanx Jimbo I stand corrected on lanolin yet wool is one of the best insulators even when wet. Many army's use the wooly cover to stop dying. I also spray my underside of the car with a lanolin product that keeps water away so the properties do expel water. Would you know if when wool is washed exactly how much lanolin is taken out. 10% 50 % or more ? I would love to get the james Web telescope view on this. Thanx for you kind words
You both are fantastic 👏 such hard work. Sarah is a real gem 💎... and has a fabulous pair of working hands. Every house needs a Sarah. Thank you guys for keeping me entertained. Take care, greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪 💚☘💚☘💚☘💥☘💚☘💚☘💚☘
Personally I would keep the showertray. You can stall your toilet in there, maybe a collapsible sink, buckets, your wet raincoats and quick dry laundry by using a fan. Anyway I'm excited to see how your van will look when you're done 🤗. Good luck and greetings from the Netherlands 🙋
Wow! You sure meet some interesting people travelling in the van. I think taking it slower and thinking things out will be in your favor. I really think that you need a 3rd perlin at the mid point. You may need the extra structure. 🙂👍👍🇨🇦
👍🏻😁 you’re doing great ! Carry on 👍🏻 😊 At first I thought shower tray too big, requires too much space, BUT showering together saves water soooooooo ☺️😁
Aww Francois. Was fantastic now i have seen everything in a Van 😂 I am sure he will get many visiting his concerts 😜. 😂😂Dizzy wanted to join in give you both his own concert while you work . Succes with the rest of the build , your Getting there 😜. Have a lovely weekend 🥰
Looks like the wool would be the same , but with most insulations like fiberglass or something it is supposed to be left fluffed up , as the air spaces around the fiber is part of the insulating factor
As far as I'm aware the best way is to keep it nice and springy and not overpacked. Just remember, it's different for actual sheepses cos they don't get stuffed up 'oles. Fill the spaces with fuzziness not felt. 🙂. I think your new French friend would have space for a kitchen if he PXed his Piano for an Ukulele or something. 🙂 Although I do think he plays rather well. 👍
It’s coming along wonderfully Nick & Sarah! Well done! Beautiful piano playing from Francois… it would be magical being at one of his outdoor concerts! xx🐾🐾
28:37 have you considered putting the shower in a doorway with (bamboo? rubberwood? cedar? plastic?) duckboard to make it level? That way it will only eat space when it's in use, plus you've got somewhere to dump wet clothes & shoes without trampling wet & mud everywhere.
We drove around with the bulkhead out the whole build. Was fine and never got stopped🙈 We also put our windows in right at the beginning. Nice progress on the van though 👍🏼
Haha, yeah but if you did get stopped!? You know what the Police and Guardia are like here, could be ok, but could not..🫣.. The ‘homo’ company we’re using gave us this information so we’re sticking with that for now.. Hope you guys have a great weekend 😘
Build is coming along great we are rebuilding inside of our landy and I have picked up odds and ends from Temu like you said free delivery cheap and they refund if not happy with product also if price goes down they refund got thumbs up from us ❤
So glad to see you have gone with Lanoguard for the underneath. I’ve recently done the underside of my Landrover and it’s worked a treat. Very simple to apply just wear clothes you a throwing out or get a spray suit. Thinking about the shower ave you thought about doing a half height cubicle like Eamon and Bec’s newer van 🤔
Cool 👌 Glad we made a good choice with the Lanoguard then😁.. Yeah we are doing a half/3/4 size shower room that pops up.. Will be much better we think😁
🇬🇧🦋🚐wow you are getting there .. Rome wasn’t built in a day .. the gentleman you meet was inspiring , when he said plays Music in beautiful scenery . Went goosebumps . What a special person … Dizzy got me mum dad I am here . Take care both of you and keep safe ❤lulu and Paul 🚐🦋🇬🇧x Yes Temu is a addictive for things you did not know you needed x
Thanks guys, yeah Francois is a very cool guy, just him a bed and a piano! Brilliant, he showed us a few vids of him playing in amazing places, just awesome 😊
@@theexPAWers that must have been awesome seeing the videos , just shows you can be rich with what fulfills you. Amazing you meet him … somethings are meant to be . ❤️
Reckon its all the glues/sprays/stains that made you poorly!!!!! Koudos guys, love the fact you're giving it a go and admitting you're not too clear about what you're doing, but, are prepared to accept comments/help. Would love to be able to do something like that....but...having 3 (biggish)dogs, it makes everything a challenge!
