Nick is an Ambassador of optimism and helpful kindness…Can’t get over the Moons and their wonderful charity work. They love people as much as their animals, retired race horses and all….They adopt both to promote worthy stewardships. Let’s share some love with them, and support their financial causes. Getty-up and become a partner!
Ryan, you’re always so humble and never tell us all the other channels that you help with in regard to filming and editing advice. You are a very generous person with a heart of gold. I like that the narrator made another appearance! 😂
Love the Nick and Ryan combo! I hope Jenny will keep sharing Nick with you Ryan. Maybe have him on zoom as a consultant even if he can’t be there in person. His advice is invaluable. I can’t wait to see the floors go in.
What a blessing to have a friend like Nick to help you, Ryan! This reno is such a big job! Nick is a such a positive person and keeps a positive, upbeat influence for you, Ryan! ❤ You can do this Ryan! You are a sharp cookie!❤
When I was renovating in the Auvergne I got all my shutters etc. from a carpenter who made his own wood! He cut down his own trees, sliced them into planks, dried them for three years, then worked them into stuff. Definitely the cheapest as he was totally vertically integrated
how can you NOT like this channel? 2 VERY handsome men - REAL manly men ( am I right, ladies?) - plus learning from a renovation of a house... can't get any better than this!
That's a good price! Never hurt to shop around to get the feel of the market in what you are searching for. Have some floor plans, and get how much you need, write down in a column for each store you visited, jot down their prices, see if they offer discounts. Don't dismiss the small businesses or "wood salvage" yard who might have some in stock that they tore down old buildings or barns, having good solid lumber for you to "recycle" for your home. Do what necessary to be budget friendly! Nick will be missed but a live stream with you, questions and answers, feedbacks are greatly appreciated. Tea for one, but not for long, you will have tea for millions (you and us, the viewers), we appreciate you! Crack on, Ryan, you got this!
Ryan, thanks for helping Lesa and Ted at Chateau de Montmagner, they were very appreciative. Maybe you could give them a shout-out so perhaps they could get some more viewers?
Ryan is a very kind man and will help anyone but what he does because he is not a show off is keep it to him self because that is the kind of man he is just my opinion after nearly seventy years of living big huggles Ryan from Lynda 🎉
Remember, you need a strategy on storing that material inside once it arrives on the truck and still be able to access it to put it all in place. So you might want to consider also purchasing a block and tackle or electric hoist to lift the materials up through the floors. Good luck.
Great narrator, again. I am US born & raised (2nd generation, & I am an old lady. My Mother was born in 1919!). Anyway, narrator is more a plains cowboy voice, not full souther US. Great voice! Excited for your journey, Ryan. You have already learned & grown so much in the realm of restoration. You've taken on a large challenge, but in a beautiful & manageable space. With help from amazing friends/mentors like Nick!!! And knowing you can visit the Moon Home of All Things Magical, ❤❤❤❤❤. Sending love & a big grandma hug to you from Southern California, USA. I will follow the evolution of your beautiful home!! Will be so stable & strong to the foundation, then beautiful as work progresses!!!
Hi Ryan, been enjoying keeping up with your renovations, commented before saying if you ever need any help with the renovations you can reply and I’m happy to help for nothing, I’m near Rennes and have renovated my own home here as well as work for electrical French company and currently work for myself do various building works, I’m around your age and easy going and easy to get along with. Bon courage
I think that is a great price. We are contractors here in the US and one nice front wood door is $2400. So to do 3 floors for 2000 Euros is a good price
I think so to, these prices are good, it's affordable. We have done a floor until the end and they charge us around 5,000$ can. (but for a special floor and finition). You are doing yourself with someone so no fees.
I have an older home ….. 1907 …… all my Windows and doors are not standard …… to replace my front door = $5 thousand to start …… does that make you feel better Ryan ….. ❤
With nails, screws and plaster etc. I would count on 1K euro's per floor for the joists, noggins and floor boards. (noggins go between the joists to keep them from twisting). Well Done Ryan!
Ryan, you got this. I will miss seeing Nick. You two are great to watch. Tea time was hilarious. Money spent now will save you money in the future. Please wear eye protection and a mask. Be Safe.
Nice of Nick to tally up the pricing for you Ryan for the stuff you need for the floorings etc, he is one hell of a man so kind and generous. Can not wait to see how you manage on your own, which I am sure you will be able to 😘
double pocket doors at each landing w/ a sitting area on the landing? Creates some privacy when sleeping, but opens the room up during the day. Just a thought...Love the process, Ryan. Looking forward to the adventure.
That is a great idea! I don’t think i could live with everything all open…it also would make the rooms warmer in the winter…saves also on energy bills! 👍
I'm so glad the narrator was brave enough to come back! (And yes, I am from the states.) Ryan, please get the best quality you can source for those beams. I would go for narrow growth ring Douglas fir. I have no idea if that is possible where you are. Just remember, old growth wood is much stronger, more rot and warp resistant, than younger trees. I have seen beams that size where they were pretty much useless and had to be replaced within 15 years. It took me a bit to truly understand this concept, that is why I'm repeating my warning. If you are unsure of what I am talking about, just ask the narrator. 😉
Ryan you were mentioned by Lisa on the vlog Chateau De Montmagna for helping them out with their channel. Good on you for being the exception to many vlogger's who do not help others. It is obvious with your work with the Moon's that you do support others. Your family and friends would be proud of you. Your generosity will be rewarded.
Here in America “let’s get it on” means something VERY DIFFERENT. 😬😅 I was a good girl and watched the annoying commercials because Ryan is my spirit animal and I love him! 🤷🏼♀️😘❤️😂Also, I used to build houses with a general contractor and 2k for all that wood is a good thing, I’m glad that Nick was there with you to sort it all out! 😊
@@probstnatalie that’s the exact song that popped into my head when he said that to Nick before going into the store!! 🤣💀 No slight on you Ryan, I only warned you because I like you and I care! 😘❤️😂
@@Justforthefoodofit same, and I absolutely love Ryan’s sense of humor as well! I’ve been abroad 3 different times in my life, but never been to France. I love exploring new places and cultures. 😁❤️
Once that first joist goes in you will be so stoked to get the first floor completed, it gets exciting as it all comes together. We all know you are up to the challenge, it’s going to be a beautiful home, and worth a great deal more than your costs.🖤🇨🇦
You’ll also have to think about the ceilings and insulation in between the ceiling and floors! Good to see Nick back! Can’t wait to see the new floors!
You have to love Nick, so laid back and NICE, Ryan makes me laugh a lot. Being positive in life does help, my mother used to say, there are always people behind your that are worse off, so true. Enjoy watching the two working together. :)
If you want country kitchen, you might be able to reclaim cabinetry from remodels in the area, or salvage yard. You two are very conscientious, and know you’ll get good quality for very reasonable cost. It surely seems like a lot right know, but the investment you make through this process, will ultimately boost the value of your investment. Just go slow and get the things you want, not just the least cost. Good luck and it will be fun.🍀
Ryan...Great video. Loved the narrator..been hearing him for years now. Glad he came back. You and Nick are the bomb together as friends and reno work. Nick is so kind to help. We will see him on his Chanel and soon with you. Love u bunches and hugs❤❤ Best of luck!!!😊
Ryan, Nick has helped you tremendously with his positive attitude and knowledge. He got you through the scariest part of the renovation. Sad to see him leave you but I think he gave you confidence to continue. I think the pricing is reasonable. xx
So glad you brought back the animals in the wilderness narrator! So fitting. Daddy bear is introducing his bear cub into the dangerous building shop!!lol I think for all the flooring materials needed those prices are reasonable. My husband and I have gutted 2 money pits. In the end the feeling of accomplishment is great
Ryan is going to be having dreams about all the materials he hauled to the tip for Billy. Timber is expensive. That's why Simon and Sean are always looking for prime bits to recycle.
You two together are a brilliant double act, laughed all the way through the vlog. Most importantly though is to see you feeling so much more confident…go Ryan!
Love Nick so much. He and Ryan are both such kind people! Great work getting prices/estimates of supply costs. That is the beginning step in any project. Then find a way to get materials,, then get those on site,, then the reno is on its way. Yaaayyyy!🤗
I cannot even begin to explain how positive I feel after watching this. I am very much in a similar position. I had a wood specialist survey way back in early December and still no usable report. gable ends of two buildings have to be rebuilt. I don't have my own version of Nick but he has been a help to me as well even from this distance! much love, wishing you every success!
your timing was great for that voice overlay, both of us laughed when it spoke up .. keep it up .. what was the house designed as .. 2 seperate abodes ?.. the floor plan of the original building is just so different .. I am intrigued with its history .. carry on .. look forward to going down this rabbit hole .. have fun
Great to see you again Ryan 😁 looking forward to seeing your next video 😁 I watch all the adverts for you 😁 so hopefully it’ll help towards the joists 😁
Hi Ryan- It does not surprise me on the costs of the joists and the flooring, it is about the same here in the States (depends on the areas of course). I miss owning my own home and making it wonderful. keep me posted on your progress and yes you are going to need all the space you can get. Also suggest built in bookcases and cabinets as well.
I love two men having tea. What are we going to do without you two?? I was delighted to see that guys do very similar stuff to what I do with my girlfriends over a cuppa. It's delightful.
Ryan! It’s an absolute joy following you renovating such a gem of a house 😃 I think you’ll do great on your own for a while 👍 If you’re anything like me you’ll walk around for a bit and feel overwhelmed, but then you’ll just start somewhere and things will fall into place. Just a thought, do you really need two bedrooms with on suite bathrooms? Why not have kitchen and a propper dining area on the ground floor, use the first floor as social space living room and small work space, then bed and bath on the second floor. In the future, when you’ve settled in and need a new project, you can look into converting the attic. Just a thought 😊 Best of luck Anders, Sweden
The AI voice you used sounded just like a voice from my childhood. My recollection is that Disney had a narrator on some of their documentaries that sounded just like your AI voice. Initially confusing but very fun to figure out.
Yikes the wood there is really expensive. I love your narration voice it’s my favourite voice that I hear on the Internet My husband and I always enjoy your videos.
For 3 floors 2.5 isn't that bad. Though I'd seriously look into the benefits of noggins. Will add price, but will secure your boards better by spreading the weight.
Dont use that stick on insulated boards they are usles ! You need to use placosteal - plasterboard and insulation ( laine de verre ). Dry walling those walls is a much safer solution. 😉
Chateau de montmagner’s Lisa gave a shout out to you Ryan for all the help you have given her with improving her video, it was so lovely to hear about the background things your doing with out a word on your own channel such a nice thing to do kudos to you Ryan.
Like your duffel coat... or is is duffle 🤔Thank you for saying " a lot more simple" So refreshing to hear english spoken properly ( rather than .....a lot 'more simpler'). You reached 1000 likes in the time it took me to watch this and comment... well done!
Thankfully that doesn't sound as bad as I thought it would. Great price replacing all your floors, but loads of work. Doing it yourself is going to be the huge cost saver.👍
Oh my Phillip did score at Emmus. So excited to see spring flowers on the table. Spring, and true spring is my favorite season. I live in Vermont and we get stick season not usually a true spring.
Ryan, plenty of apps online (some are free, some have a cost) that you can accurately measure floors, walls, windows, ceiling, so you can confirm what you need to buy. Also a great way to visualize what it will look like in the future. Billy used one in the Convent.
So much work but at least its building now, not demolishing. At least you'll know your floors are new and safe and done properly. The smile you'll have, sitting in your completed home at the end will be all worth it. *hugs* to you Ryan.
