She just wanted a moment of silence at the table, to honor the memory of your stack. She could have joined hands with all players at the table and thanked the lord Jesus for the bounty of your glorious donation, but she didn't, and that's true class. Be sure to return the favor.
I am a kind of a faithful person and didn't want to cheat on the other vloggers I just to watch. But I feel I found my true love of vloggers... Great job Matt! Clear and understandable, logical analysis!
@@MattVaughan LoL I was about to make this same exact comment. Yeah I think in general seeing the actual table footage as well is just somehow... better. Don't get me wrong, great vlogs in general, but it's just cool to see commentary on the actual game footage. I am aware the most casinos kind of frown on videoing at the table though.
it sounds like she was hoping for the clock to turn over to a new high-hand period. not unreasonable to tank with a qualifying high hand if your holding is already beat on the board.
Hey Matt. I just came across your videos here and I like them alot. I especially liked that you are a local like me that plays at Live! alot!! I would really like to talk to you about a couple things when you have a chance. Anyway, keep up the good work!!
Hey Matt. I'm glad u replied. Thanks for your other email address. I'll definitely hit you up there. I think I have a couple of things to discuss with you that you will find interesting. Ttysoon...
There was value in check-raising the turn on the KK v QQ hand. Any 8x or overpair type hand is never getting away with the way you played it(under-repped)
Love how you put the footage in the background....!!! I told ya brother it makes a big difference can't wait to run into you at Maryland Live. I play either their or MGM sometimes Hollywood in Charlestown.
Your reaction to the tank-nuts-slow-roll reminded of me of Jaman Burton! Always a good thing! Is this some kind of Mandela Effect? Ha! Great vlog as always!
No need to 4bet KK above even 3x. The ideal number is usually closer to 2.5x, this allows you to polarize with some occasional mixed hands like A5s etc.
New subscriber here. I heard your name mentioned by either Brad or Andrew. Don’t remember which but a shout out from them is pretty solid. And he/they were right. You’re only the sixth poker vlogger I subscribe to because I will only watch quality. Nice job! Look forward to more. JC p.s. Going to Springfield?
Cheers, James! It's so hard for me to follow all the content that's out there now, so not sure when one of them would have shouted me out in recent memory but I appreciate it!! Thanks for the kind words! Not going to Springfield in the super near future, no. But hopefully at some point!
Very tough hands to play correctly. In many cases, one has no choice but to gamble. It would be helpful if you can give a net score at the end of win/loss. Thanks.
I really like your decisions. Especially the hand with KK against QQ is not an easy one. With the JJ's I would've folded, as you saw they never raise not even with an open ender + the FD, so if someone raises you're behind. Also the hand with KK preflop I would go 200, maybe 220. Oppo is going to have TT JJ AK a lot, sometimes AQ, but you don't want to chase him away. For the rest GG, WP, very good live play style you have. Very similar to mine!
😂 It cracks me up the comments on the gloves. They aren't "driving gloves" - they're just gloves! Thanks for getting past the first 3 minutes or whatever lmao. Welcome 👊
The KK vs. QQ hand. You know, Matt, turns out they don't necessarily think the way you do. Sometimes they think "Oooh. Big pair, but scary overcards can flop, no 3-bet. Ooooh. No scary overcards. Must have nuts." Also, please see Brokos's tweets about the commentary when somebody left the room after hitting a couple of ticket drawings, then another of his tickets was pulled. "Should never leave when you're running like that." Poker is provably not dead.
Mev!!! Much love and run good!!! Setting aside a chunk of my tax returns in hopes of staking you in some big tournies this year! WSOP a couple years ago was so fun following!
I like the river call with kings. You definitely have to defend some overpairs here, and kings w/ a diamond are going to be your best bet... or should I say call 😏. She will have you beat here many times, as she'll have some straights, some (but not many) flushes, and occasionally she'll have a 6 that may or may not have turned a FH. All in all, I like the call down, and it seems we ran into a slightly over-valued overpair, although her river bet might be fine as the very bottom of her value range.
It is the first video from you that I watched. Well done..!!! clear graphs and relaxed analysis..!!! much better than screaming and loud stuff produced by the likes of Doug Polk. I like the "must move" at Live, for it creates stability in the game. I usually play the MGM , which often has the greed/problem of opening too many 2/5 games without a healthy list, and thus producing unstable games and constant table jumping..!!!..And the 5/10 at MGM is often populated by several people who live together...!!! So, I'm going to make more of an effort to visit LIVE.
Gutter for the flush, you can’t do anything with your pocket jack at the point since you paid for the flop.. and when you should raise the bet amount before it takes to turn. In that case, high jack should take all the risk to see the ace card, which is the most player unlikely to take the risk to see and hard to make decision. However, it is also risk on you too. But still there is more chance to win this game. Since you lead the tablez
Matt Vaughn, your vlog showed up in my YT suggested list probably because I watch Brad Owen’s vlog. Other YT suggestions don’t usually result in me being interested in continuing to watch after sampling the suggestion. Wanted to let you know that I enjoyed yours and will watch you again. I like your poker and vlog style. Nice work.
If there is a high hand there she might just be double checking to see if it's about to reset. I've seen people wait out to get their high hand into a qualifying round its deff a smart thing to take into consideration when you get quads or SF. Ive also seen people call fast then realize if they waited 40 more seconds the hand would have qualified for the next round.
@@MattVaughan yea more than often it's just slow rolling. But let's be honest poker isn't for saints. It's a ruthless game i try to be nice. But at the end of the day it's not a game for nice people. :)
On that hand she slow rolled, was there a possibility that a new hour/half hour for high hand was about to start and she was just waiting for that?? Just an idea because I played with many people who have quads and will tank up to a minute/2 minutes to qualify.
It was probably AK cuz I do that also let people pick 1 cuz no matter which card they pick it looks fine. It it were aces or Kong’s he probably just shows.
If I didn't know the guy, I'd tend to agree with you. The fact that he waited like 45 minutes to even tell me (and it was unprompted) is what makes me believe him, too.
Matt you claim to have folded QQ preflop sometimes; have you ever folded KK preflop? A few years back at 1-2 the first hand I had KK in mid. Early position limp; I raise to 10 and EP limp-reraises to 30. I 4-bet and lose to AA. Some say a limp-reraise preflop at small stakes is never worse than KK.
I've folded KK twice... to the same guy, two years apart. Once in 1-2 and the second time in 2-5. Dude was not a nit, but rarely ever 3-bet. 1-2 was a 4-bet shove and 2-5 was 5-bet shove. Both times I mucked face up and he showed AA. Pfft, easy game.
Played a hand a few days ago and I have no idea if i played it well or not. 1-3 game with a 6$ straddle, 1,500$ effective, and I have AQ off in middle position. Folds to me, I raise to 35 and get check raised by cutoff to 120 by a guy who three bet for first time in the 45 min he was there. I call and flop comes qh6c4c.(I dont have any clubs) I check and he bets 150$, I call. turn comes 9s, i check, and he bets 500. I end up folding after thinking for about a minute. Too nitty? Any insight would be appreciated! Felt like KK to me
Join discord to get feedback!! At a glance, your language is all over the map. You call a preflop 3bet a check raise? So it's a little hard to follow. But this is a pretty player and game dependent spot. I mean, the fact that you're 1500 deep with someone in a 1/3 game is already weird. But folding to that turn with that size with money still behind seems reasonable I suppose. It's just a little scary because we have so few better hands to call with here besides some of the strong FD's, and those we probably have to fold getting this price anyway.
12:49 It looks like she called you within a reasonable amount of time - about 7 seconds. Not the 30 to 40 seconds that you are implying. She was probably checking to make sure that there was no straight flush out there considering you did not mention what the river was. I'm confuse after reviewing the video a few times . . . if she knew she had the nuts, why would she put chips to call you? Which begs the question, what was the river? Any KQT87 hearts would make me do a double take too and question my quad 9s. I too was in the same situation a few days ago. The river gave me quads Ace but it took me a while to call the bet (about 5 to 10 seconds). I was on seat #8 and I had to stand up and double check the board to make sure that there was no straight flush considering that the board was Ad Kh Qd 9h Ah.
It's about 20 seconds on the live video (it's slightly sped up for the duration of the hand so that the timing works out well). Memory always makes it feel longer than it is in practice though, you're right. I didn't review the tape before recording the hand review, so you're getting more of what it "felt like" there. When I say the river is a brick, that means it was definitely not a heart, and a heart is a card I would not continue bluffing on either. Definitely a good point though on wanting to "make sure" what the situation is, but this one just felt longer than necessary. Always will feel worse when bluffing there though!
Why double-check the board with quads? Are you seriously going to fold it? Most casinos have bad beat jackpots if quads get beat by a higher hand anyway....
cbrrick36 lol sorry man I’m from Canada so I find this shit hilarious. I see no snow or no breath. It’s not fucking cold. You don’t need gloves to drive 😂
@@ryangal855 no apologies needed lol I'm from Michigan and was thinking the exact same thing. Plus gloves should never be worn while driving unless you're on a track. Lol
Bruh when you first get in your car its still cold as fuck in that bitch. Nothing wrong with wearing gloves for 5-10 minutes until the heat gets cranking.
Tbh I think she seen the her set and didnt want the heart on the turn and thought you hit a flush and lost track of her hand thinking she was beat because she was so focused on the heart until she caught on or she just brutally slow rolled you
I love playing poker and have played in roughly 20 games at the casino, since I play mostly online but I really hate how slow some players are.. taking ages to make any move (even non significant).. just a waste of time.. lol it reallt frustrates me for some reason
Yeah for a lot of reasons I don't even love my flop call, but it's a tough spot to just immediately give up. The turn is likely a slam dunk fold even to a normal size.
@@MattVaughan If we start to assign values to the hands villian is likely to have and then we say assign random bluffs and oddly played over pairs, leaning more towards the oddly played at this level. We're just never doing that great. And then on the turn it becomes even what cards do we want to see? Your vlog is great, and honestly what I think you do best is never fictionalize your thinking in game.
Depends on mood for most people. If you walk there every time like that, you are a rare case - most people need some pump up or external motivation for that to be their perspective. If you can manage it every time, that's often!
Did she ever offer up an explanation on the slow roll or was she just a novice sitting at a 2/5 game and legit thought there was a hand that could beat hers? I have played with people like that, that are holding the nuts and they are checking and rechecking the board and their cards because they think they're beat. Anyhow, first time watching your vlog. Not bad overall. Thanks for the content.
Great video. I’ve been slow-rolled 5 times at the tables. 4 by women and 1 by a half-blind Asian guy. Is it a coincidence? Or do these women like to punish us for trying to bluff?...lol
Matt Vaughan Haha. Yeah, same in my cases. It’s a lot of money and they wanted to be sure. There was a J-9 of hearts on your hand’s flop and she was probably looking for straight flush possibilities. Technically, she slow-“called” you...lol
JJ id like to fold on that flop in that situation. even if were still good theres a ton of equity against JJ and you never know when youre good. its impossible to get a lot of value out of this hands except catching bluffs with hero calls. if its a super crazy table i can see calling here but ion any remotely regulare game its just a dead end. i mean think what we wanna doge on turn and river. all spades, all Q+, all 3, all 8, also we might not wanna have a paired board. if he plays 73 he also plays 74, so what cards are we hoping for ? and how do we get value in hands where were still good? betting is out of the question, check calling puts it on their mercy, giving them the oiption to realize all their equity, and ahmmer us down with many bluffs. its just a dicy i dont wanna be in spot for no reason
btw i would see a check on the flop instead of a bet. while i can see Cbet to deny equity but then again any draw and combo draw and even one pair hands in position could reasily raise here. even a hand like AJ, AQ, AK, or even A2 and similar. ofc all set and all straights would raise, all 3 could raise too. so there so much high expactation to getting raised here that i might wanna check. if it checks trough i underep my hand and have a chance for value on later streets. but this could be a classic 3times check it down hand when overs apear later. it might look nitty but and the hand to strong to check down to showdown but it really isnt
@@MattVaughan JK, it wasn't her, but we both do play at Maryland Live all the time. Hope to see you there. I promise to not slow roll you with the nuts.
I call bs on the QQ hand. Not doubting this hand happened. Just that he had QQ. QQ is re raising pre. My guess is you were beat at the end and don’t want to look bad.
I did reraise pre. I 4bet. And then folded to a 5bet face up. Not sure what you even mean but there were like 5 other regs at the table who can verify this if you actually care haha.
Oh and the same 5 regs can verify EITHER hand lmao. But everyone's just gonna say I could "ask my friends to be in on it too" 😅 Guys, just so you know, I make like $0.005/view, okay. I'm not flipping making up hands here. If I was gonna make shit up I'd do it in a more lucrative manner.
perhaps she thought there was someone else still left in the hand?? therefore showing a little weakness to draw them in as well??? other than that or the high hand holdout...ZERO reason
I think it's hilarious when somebody slow rolls me. If I think it's an inexperienced player, I don't care. I'll get their money later. If it's an intentional slow roll, I don't get mad. I start laughing, point at the slow roller and exclaim "Hahaha!! He forgot what he had!! We've all been there, right?". What's he gonna say in return? If the slow roller actually has the balls to correct me by saying they were slow rolling me, I continue to play dumb. "Oh yeah sure! C'mon man! You forgot what you had! Just admit it. We've all done it before! Don't worry about it. Nice hand!" I play the loud dumb fuck in those situations. It lightens up the table and I WANT the whole table to think I'm stupid.
Your Shove on the river was completely dumb, Once she call your turn bet, it was over for you....specially the river was a brick...She has all the pot odd to call you with.
Did that woman never say anything? No explanation at all for the slow roll? So bizzare, I would’ve definitely said something to her, better man than me..
I need to know why she did that. It's impossible she's that clueless right? Great vid. Lil long but well done. Let's edit ourselves. Being concise is a good thing no?
If I had quads facing a jam I think I would have to ask you if you made a flush? Then call, make you show and then say I have a 9 with a 9 kicker. I fuck if you are gonna slow roll somebody might as well get your money’s worth!
