I ran a campaign where a copper dragon abducted and impersonated a wealthy merchant who owned a trading company. He was extremely successful and used the money to buy all the government officials. The pcs took a few quests from him. I kept giving them subtle hints that he wasn't what he seemed... he had an obsession with fine metalwork and jewelry, hated other dragons, liked to prank the players sometimes. And he never seemed intoxicated, no matter how much wine he had.

I can imagine a copper dragon literally pulling a Uno reverse card on you the moment you say something remotely bad about them. *Copper Dragon takes a sharp breath, he knows he's losing this battle against the younger copper dragon, he looks at his opponent with a glare after a particularly savage attack on how his horns look like deer antlers, whatever a deer is. After a moment he stands majestically and reaches for a loose scale on his breast and pulls out a small square of what looks like parchment the opponent identifies it with but a single glance. An Uno Reverse card, a card from a long lost civilization that's been said to reverse time itself. With a mighty breath the older cooper dragon mutters but a single phrase.* "No u" *the young copper dragon is instantly turned to dust and the older dragon leaves with a smug smile across his face.*

I have never played dnd before, and have only recently found out about what it actually is, yet i can absolutely create a quest with this info. Two copper dragons have been arguing abot who's bar is better in a secluded village. The party's misson? Get these man children to stop arguing like twelve year olds.

Anyone can ingest venom without difficulty (well, it could a bit risky if you have a cut in your mouth or perhaps a bad stomach ulcer) since it's just a protein. Venoms have to be injected in order to be effective, where as poisons must be ingested (though I think some can do both).

Plz give your lore series a name. Titles look like clickbait from watch mojo but the content is quite good

When you mentioned Copper Dragons and Combat, I was really hoping you were going to say that one of their favorite spells is hideous laughter.

I love this series. It inspires me every episode. Just from this video alone I have an entire story brewing in my head that I’m going to write down for my campaign. Having my players come across a charismatic individual who they come to believe is just a bard reveals that he’s apart of the local thieves guild that runs under the city. He will be sarcastic and always have a smile about him. The players will be under the impression that he is just a lower ranking guild member who introduces them to the guilds “higher-ups” in hopes that they could find some work. If they follow this story long enough, and gain the charismatic bards respect they would eventually be told they could meet the guilds leader. They would be escorted through the city’s underbelly and its various cave systems, until reaching their destination. Where they’d see the same sarcastic bard who they had befriended some time ago. He’d invite them to some drinks and ask for a few good tales they have made along their journey before revealing himself to be a copper dragon, and the leader of the organization they have been working for. They would undoubtedly ask why he pretended to be a lower ranking goof, and he would explain that when he gets to know the people who work for him personally and they think he’s of no importance, he learns a persons true colors a lot more effectively. This code of conduct has allowed him to become one of the oldest and most respected “crime lords” within the prime material plain. He uses the term crime lord lightly, for he doesn’t stand behind true acts of violence. His true domain is that of gold and treasure. thieving.

A note here that is rather important on the copper dragon meals: There is an important distinction between poison and venom. Venom is something that a scorpion injects. Poison is something that is imbibed. (I know that D&D confuses the two)

I am quite interested in getting started in D&D I used to put it off due to my lack of skill with math, but, all the calculators and what not... These videos have given me some ideas about character ideas and how that character would interact with dragons. Well, off to the next video.

I wish that some other games had this level of variety in dragon attitudes and traits beyond just the generic "dragons are ancient and beyond approach". I mean some types are, but the nice thing about DnD is that even amongst one species of dragon, there can still be some understandable variance in personality.

OMG when I heard the thing about them loving wine I flipped. I had a copper dragon who was an NPC guide for my party that was always drinking wine, I can't remember if I read that somewhere or if I just made it up but it put a smile on my face anyhow so thanks!

Coppers are my 3rd fav. Red being first, green second Edit: I guess I will tell it here. Last character I created was a Half dragonborn with red and copper scales. Basically as a human 10year old girl my character was put into a ritual pool of red dragon blood to try to make her the ultimate follow of this certain red dragon. As the ritual began a copper dragon snuck in and threw a bit of his own blood in the mix cuz why not. So when my Character came out she wasn't fully red and her fire breath was green, like copper burning. Kinda cool, there is more back story to it, but sadly I moved away from my home town :/ maybe one day I'll bring her back

Damn, Copper dragons are dope. Their fun, their cool looking, they're pretty chill, their creative, cunning, playful, their mating ritual is cute, and they use earth magic which imho is a very underrated element. Downside, they are greedy for shiny. Big whoop, so are adventurers...

Quest idea: a copper dragon wants the adventurers to help him impress his potential mate by setting up a surprise party for her with tons of important and interesting humanoids. The players must gather them all up, and keep her busy while they are being placed in her lair for the party. As a reward for doing this, the copper dragon will part with a bit of his precious hoard. And offer to fly them anywhere they want, after the party of course.

I'm just imagining century-spanning "You better go catch it" prank calls from this dragon.

Played a half-copper dragon bard a few years back without even knowing half of his lineage was a bard by nature. Guess I played up that part of his identity pretty well.

I had a copper dragon ally help my PCs in my first real session of D&D 3.5 a few years back. They fought it in the dark, thinking it was an enemy, before the two parties actually saw and met each othr. It all worked out though; they got the dragon drunk soon afterwards with kegs of beer XD

This gives me an idea for a Copper Dragon that runs a bard college

This was a good reference for me. I recently made and used a character that was an earth genasi. Since I gave them the feat “gift of the metallic dragon” I needed to figure out which type of dragon gifted them this. Well, I had made my character a trickster rogue with a level of wizard. Finding out about this dragon immediately helped because it suddenly made sense with the connection between the feat and the subclass. From there I decided on why would the dragon care to grant this feat to the character and also decided they were an abandoned child whom the dragon raised and basically became a part of the living part of the hoard of said dragon. This also explained some of the items they had (like a crystal rapier) and why they might be more light hearted and happy go lucky than your average earth genasi, hard not to when your foster parent is a prankster. So yeah. Thanks for the help with the more detailed backstory I was able to write with this information!

I do love the humour around those 2 female Copper dragons in the R.A. Salvatore novels (first the Entreri/Jarlaxle series, then the later series with the rest of the Companions of the Hall).

Plot idea. Turf war between two copper dragons has started to bother local town. Stone pillars and random mudslides making it hard fpr trade to happen. All because the two dragons who volunteered to protect the village hundreda of years ago thought the other was too uppity and needed to prove himself as the better one

I had a campaign where we met a polymorphed copper dragon, he hired himself out as a monk bodyguard on a dangerous mountain path he had learned drunken fist from an elfish master and used his natural wit to trick the monsters into thinking he was completely wasted then hit them hard. The mountain path was also between two dwarfish kingdoms and the dragon usually got paid in gold and booze. He invited our party to his place after our wizard (me) regaled him with humorous anecdotes from his studies. We got totally plastered with our new friend who stayed in human form so he could get drunk with us. We never learned his draconic name but his human form went by Lu Bu, the drunk monk. I miss Lu.

So basically set up a vineyard and have the dragon be your business partner.

Really excited that I found this video, as the table I'm running just encountered the named Galadaeros, the Sunset Flame out in the trackless sea.

My current character is a young adult Copper Dragon who entered a bet with a wizard on whether he could achieve success on his wits alone, without his Draconic gifts. So he is for most intents and purposes a normal halfelf bard, but like a terrier he sometimes forgets his no so intimidating appearance and act with a lot of confidence and bravado. So far my party hasn't caught on to him. He is by far the most interesting character I have made as I spend all my energy on his motivations and roleplaying him instead of looking at his stats ect

Enjoyable dragon video as always, cold do without the click-bait titles though. Minor nitpick about venom and poison: Poison is ingested and venom is injected, but both are toxins. So copper dragons would be immune to eating toxins (poisoning) but not having the toxin injected (envenoming).

Oxidation may make copper dragons have a mix of metallic red and dull green.

Good resource for me as I’m currently playing a Drakewarden in a Tyranny of Dragons campaign. I took the childhood friend bond at the beginning so my character’s drake taking the form of a copper dragon (and me taking the metallic dragon feat) is truly coming into play recently. Despite the different draconic associations my character and their childhood friend have, they both dearly care for each other, within this particular campaign. In fact, my character carries a secret torch for her childhood friend. Why? Because when my character was a child, and had recently lost her parents (not a revenge plot hook), it was this childhood friend who helped her laugh again, even though the two are very different in personality. I took that particular inspiration from the knowledge that coppers like that in partners. Now, this is a romantic subplot from my character’s backstory so remains to be seen how the dm plays out the childhood and that chromatic dragon association. For now, this particular video was extremely helpful to me in designing out the themes and quirks I intended to lean into when playing my drakewarden. Much appreciated for it!
