Im dutch and i can confirm this, im in the middle height wise in my friends group and family. Im only 1m95, but my father was 2.10 and 140 kilo's just from working in the Port of Amsterdam al his life. Im currently considering joining a rugby team becus rugby playing friends told me im wel suited. I dont know tho if 24 isnt to old to start my career.

That's also because they have a different mentality for training. At the age of 14 they start to go to the gym, in order to increase they're strength. In italy neither at the age of 18 they let you lift some wight, in fact I was 60 kg (when I have my rucksack full 😂) against people that weight about 90 kg and more.

Pap en vleis 😊 But South Africa is a country of oversized people. You have the Afrikaners who had to endure arduous boat trips from Europe and dangerous treks inland, so only the best and strongest survived. Similarly you have the Xhosa, Zulu and even Swati who were warrior societies with emphasis on having large, strong young warriors together with natural athleticism and last the coloured community who have both the size and strength together with that athleticism. Physically gifted but not always disciplined. And we rely too much on size and not skills.

I enjoyed school boy rugby in the 80s, 1985 to 1989. Good memories, I remember many big boys at that time as well, 6 foot plus, 110 to 130 kgs, even some were heavier like big Bill Cavubati from Scots College. I remember playing Wesley college once, 1988, they were very big, I remember Waisake sotutu, he was playing 1st five that day, I'd say he was the biggest 1st Five in NZ those days lol. 1.9ish 110kg ish lol. We were happy because we won 33 to 3 against those big boys lol. Early 80s were the same, very big school boys. So I don't think the boys are any bigger, maybe more of the PEDS these days and for a wee while now.

I see most high schools practicing on holidays and for hours after school and even in school time. Just because someone has muscles doesn't mean they use steroids. Please do your research. Doos.

They are all exceptional world class players though I do feel Lomu stood mighty in a class of his own..... alone. It is quite conceivable he will remain alone for at least our lifetime. Such natural anomalies in human nature are remarkably rare indeed and I consider myself blessed to have played against the humble behemoth. I was 16 and he 14. It was akin to an overgrown supremely athletic adult against an average 1st 15 high school team. Our efforts to even slightly contain let alone dominate the giant were laughable to say the least. And once the pain slowly settled and the feeling of humiliation gradually fades you then realized that you were involved in something quite remarkable. Although triumph was not ours that day it still remains one of my favourite games His premature passing felt unjustly and was difficult to process......off paddock he remained kind and modest....not a trace of ego were ever within his peaceful presence May he Rest in Eternal Peace✌

Holy shit!! They're some big units! I've always given S.A rugby credit but not enough by the looks of it!? Proud Kiwi here and I've always rated N.Z high school rugby but that's next level. 👌

south african school boy rugby has a huge steroid problem. this isnt coming from me, but from the 50% of south african schools that have players that pissed hot, the countless number of stories and accounts of doping from south africans and, from an eye test, it is almost impossible to get that big at such a young age without PED's.
