💪Nice to see how you younger technicians work I’ve done several of these now it’s long winded job to do but satisfying the same time the only thing I do different is I remove the head light makes it a bit easier for us older mechanics’s 40 years in the trade and still plodding on . Enjoy your content keep up the good 🫡
I always think that breaking a favourite tool is somewhere up there with the death of the family dog. I broke my favourite Bahco ratchet driver last week. I'd owned it for over 20 years. I couldn't bear to just lob it in the recycle so I buried it in the back garden.
Great video and very informative Baz ive got a 2016 EcoBoost fiesta only on 57k mileage probably need to get mines done soon been a great wee car with no issues
Had my 2014 focus ecoboost done 2 month ago,73k mileage.Fairly expensive but worth it for peace of mind.Always regular serviced and no trace of anything in oil pickup and old belt looked really good.Hope this helps with making your mind up?
Always use Ford Castrol 5W/20 or a high brand that meets Ford specifications especially stop start oil if it has stop start but it must be 5w/20 spec minimum , that in itself will prolong your belt life & oil pump belt life just to add to this , of course Valvoline , Mobil , Shell & other makes are just as good as long as they meet Ford specifications ( WSS-M2C948-B & A ) Stop / Start oil is also suitable 👍
Nice work mate, I was a mechanic for about 3 years. They are criminally underpaid! Blagged my way into a maintenance engineer role and almost doubled my salary. Plus it's warm/dry. Don't think people realised it's quite a skillful job that requires a lot of different tools nowadays.
When I was a service manager in the 1980s we found that the items removed to complete a repair caused unrelated failures in the near future. What Ford have done here will reduce long term reliability and increased costs for their customers.
My 2014 C-Max came with a 16mm belt & Ford stated to me it was fitted with the wrong width belt as it should have been an 18mm but probably ran out at the factory , so I happily fitted the 18mm that Ford supplied & of course renewed the oil pump belt too & used a torque multiplier to undo & tighten the bolt to spec etc etc , they are a nightmare time consuming job to do but the C-Max you do have more room in the engine bay & the air con pipes are routed in a completely different way .
Well done to you sir! Makes me feel very comfy to book our little Fiesta for a wetbelt change with you soon ! Ours is 2013 the 80HP non turbo one with 45K mls on the clock .... wonder if it will make any diff as to how you approach it and how dificult it is compared to tthe turbo ones ? Gread vid , really anjoyed it !
Thanks, Baz. Really useful to see how it all works 👍 My 2017 Fiesta 1.1 is a non turbo. I guess all the belts are the same, just different ancillaries, to do this job?
Nice 1 baz ,what's time do you book on these ,we've got loads of prep cars coming through and by the time the timing tools are factored out to buy there's no profit left and they get sent to the block
How can I have a fiat Scudo van done by you baz your videos are brilliant I’m from bedford miles from you if you don’t me asking where can I get info on how to get an estimate and where you work Tony
not trying to be big headed or a smartarse, but ive done this on my drive without taking off the aircon pump, not taking starter out,not locking the flywheel or locking the cams and still managed the job. now before lots say bulls**t about not locking anything im being totally honest. oh and i didnt use the multyplier tool either. oh and im not a mechanic, but by god was it a horrible job
@@bazmeredith i put a drill bit in the hole to lock crank pulley and jammed the flywheel with a pry bar and big screwdriver against the gearbox. dodgy i know but had to make do with what i had. wasnt shelling out on locking tool for 1 job, i am a scotsman after all
Which ones use the narrower belt and which use the wider one ? why are they different ? i didnt know there was two types , thanks for doing the video very informative ,
You can change them yes, it's all down to how they feel, I do order new ones everyone I do, but if they don't need replacing it's an extra cost the customer doesn't have to pay
The Laser cam tool you use doesn’t come with the vvt alignment tool….I’m guessing there’s no need to adjust them during a cambelt replacement? My sister wants me to change her belt, I work in a Vauxhall main dealer and just not sure I want to invest in the tooling that may never get used again.
Ya know what everyone says they are a nightmare yes there's a lot to take off but it's the sort of job to get your teeth into and the day goes rather quick
@@bazmeredith yeah I get that. Just the thought of doing the first one is a bit daunting after hearing all the issues etc. Your videos help though for the first one i do ;)
Ive done probably near on 100 of the ecoboost belts over the last few years, once you’ve done a few they are actually an enjoyable job, I’ve actually got a 1.2 pure tech in the workshop for a wet belt tomorrow, wish the ecoboosts were that easy 🤣🤣
I don't put prices on these kind of jobs buddy as it causes debates and I like to keep it fair for other garages but they vary between £800 and £1500 between different garages
Been watching your content for a few weeks now. Love it. I'm in the USA but we do have the 1.0L and it seems you are recommending replacing these belts every 50k miles? If we assume the car was maintained on ANY oil not the spec oil what mileage is just a good standard service interval for these based on your experience? Thanks!
