The very reason I'll never use a realtor again. Absurd amounts of money for something anyone can do. The real work is done with the lawyer after the deal is made.
Back when a large home with property was valued at $40k, I can see that a 3% commission could be reasonable. That was $1,200. Back then, that was still several months typical salary. Nowadays, where a small house on very little land is north of $600,000? That's $18k for minutes worth of work, and that goes not only to the selling realtor, but the buying realtor also. $36k out of a (usually) struggling new homeowner's pocket for the "privilege" of someone that took an online course for a few weeks.
