It’s because slugcats are from outer expanse and scavengers don’t know what this creature is, so they just afraid of unknown animal (at least, I think so).

Ah! Late reply, but these characters are from a game called Rain World; the white and yellow creatures are called slugcats, while the brown creature is called a scavenger. It's a pretty cool game! :)

Scavengers have never struck me as the bloodthirsty types. I've always seen them more as skittish and prone to making bad decisions in the heat of the moment. And consider that a thoroughly motivated slugpup is more than capable of maiming or even killing a scavenger. I wouldn't blame a scavenger for killing a pup in some situations.

I can now officially say I killed over twice as many scavs as gourmand during a rage after one killed my first slugpup than playing as artificer; Gourmand rage 100+ (scav tolls+V+B= 2 ez) Artificer 45 maybe 48 tops (Both not including those I killed on cycles where I died)

@@candiekitty19 the head cannon is cool and all but it’s probably because they have a separate reputation with a slug pup separate from their parents, and since slugpups move around super fast all the time that scares scavengers, and that plus a neutral reputation with them, well uh, Arti makes much more sense

I think the reason Hunter starts with low rep is because the Scavs likely had a horror story of "the demon who takes form in the red slugcat with a scarred eye." Same reason they are scared of slugpups. They don't want another Artificer.
