Youghal man, David Cooley, has donated a historic crest back to its rightful place at Fort St. Angelo, Malta. The bronze crest had remained a mystery until recently but due to the diligence of Hugh Carson and Michael Fawl, the historic crest has been traced to Fort St. Angelo in Malta. The crest is being transported to Malta on board the Irish Naval Service ship the L.É. James Joyce. The Irish Naval Vessel, under the command of Lt. Cdr. Niall Manning, is currently in the Mediterranean sea, continuing their humanitarian duties.
David collects memorabilia as a hobby and one of the artifacts he got from Michael Fawl many years ago has proving to be of great value to Malta Heritage. The crest was once part of the famous Fort St. Angelo up to the second world war.
