It is not only the young Africans migrating to the West, I just migrated and I am a 58 year old. I tried to work honestly but was very frustrated and could only get things done by paying off middle men. At my age, I need peace.

JAPA IS ALL ABOUT POOR LEADERSHIP. The question by the moderator: " Do you think it's a result of failed leadership?"Is a half-assed excuse to dodge responsibility by her and her employer? When even the rich send their kids abroad,it's not just poverty then; it's repeated failed governments' leadership! To even make it look like there's another reason why Africans migrate is what makes politicians get away on technicality! If 99% of people japa because of poverty, non-existent healthcare systems, insecurity, joblessness, none-existent education systems, civil wars, ethnic cleansing, etc, then what else is responsible for japa? I know we live in Nigeria, and even the media is scared to do their jobs, but can't journalists at least ask pointed questions to get good answers that can move us forward? Making it look like Nigerians/Africans have other reasons for emigration is out of touch and insenstive and unprofessional! All media outfits in Nigeria are just content creators. They pretend to have discussions that will make people listen and engage, but the journalist will always be scared of truths that will finger the government. They want our participation without them doing any investigative journalism and bring facts that will get the government's attention, even with the Freedom of Information Act. All media houses are places you go to get more angry and depressed about our hopeless situation. Pointless debates and discussions that just beat about the bush of serious issues and do nothing. Every person speaks from their heads. When will our journalists come and read documents obtained from their investigations? When will they stop asking questions market women ask themselves in the market? When will the start giving us information we don't already have? When will they really start putting the feet of the government officials to the fire? When will they start making politicians/government accountable? When will they just stop pretending to be media houses just for profits? WHEN WILL THEY SIMPLY START DOING THERE JOBS? Any journalist not ready to die for the truth shouldn't have the platform to talk to people! The government has failed. Media also has failed. If the 1st (executive), 2nd (legislative), 3rd (judiciary), and 4th (journalism) arms of a democratic system has failed, why are we here wasting time asking why people japa? We have freedom of speech and yet are afraid to use it. Nigeria needs a revolution! African leaders have to decide if they want a peaceful or violent one. The longer they keep pretending and lying, the more they choose violent revolutions because our current ways can't last long! The sad thing is that the leaders will all get away, unharmed with their families, and stolen wealth. It is still the poor Africans who will turn on themselves and suffer for the sins of our leaders. Proffessor Lumumba is on point. Its responsibilities of Afrcan governments to come up with policies that ensure that the welfare of their Nationals are taken to heart. Why has Africa got low minimum wages compared to Europe even when they are employed by foreign multinational companies ? A cleaner in Europe earns more than a nurse in Africa. What do you expect? If this problem is not addressed money invested in Education will not have an impact because of brain drain. Great conversation but it is incomplete without young voices. A key contributor to irregular migration is loss of hope. Hope has been wrenched from the average African youth in a way that their predecessors cannot understand. There is literally little to nothing to look forward to, so people are incentivized to move by any means necessary. This phenomenon is hard for the baby boomers to relate to as they came of age in a time where the air was rife with hope. Unfortunately, we didn’t get that.

The African government should give their young people subsides,to create new industries and become entrepreneurs

The reason why some young people are not employable is because the government makes it impossible to acquire skills. There is no money in education or trade. You need capital to start. Pro. Said it all. Create the environment that is encouraging. People don't thrive in an oppressive environment. That's what our societies are known for.

Most of our so called politicians don’t understand what it takes to govern the people that gave them the mandate in the first place, so how can they give what they don’t have. This is a very hard pill to swallow. Now talk about the electorate, most of them are also illiterate, they have sold their birth right and don’t know the capacity of the people they vote into office.
