Thanks for your reaction. I grew up in the 1960s. I followed the pros mostly. Not a lot college games, except for whenever I could see Pistol Pete at LSU. In 1980, I got to the Boston area when Bird showed up. Who's Bird? But after a few weeks of watching the Celtics, I was like "darn this guy can play". More importantly he made his teammates look awesome. And here's the thing. In real time, those of us watching didn't know that he was talking trash and calling his shots. I'm watching the old analog TV and listening to the announcers... but I can't read lips.
You can look it up but every NBA player out there... will tell you that Larry Bird was the biggest trash talker ever! LOL. Michael Jordan credits Larry Bird for teaching him how to talk trash! LOL
Great job JG! Pat Riley said it best "If I had to choose a player to take a shot to win the game I choose Michael, if I have to pick a player to take a shot to save my life, I choose Larry".
It's not that Bird was a trash talker. It's that he backed it up. He would tell defenders what he was going to do and then did it and they couldn't stop it.
LMAO Larry didn't trash talk he just told the guys what he was going to do before the play started and then did it and there was NOTHING they could do to stop him
One of Bird's team mates said Bird caught the ball and shot and as the ball left his hands the ref held up 2 fingers for the made bucket, The other team did a retake because the ref was talking trash for Bird
Shout out accepted! And just think… Before yesterday, all those years of watching basketball, you had no idea this dude (who can easily fill in as a substitute teacher) had that in him. If you were like me, you probably heard his name occasionally, but didn’t think much of him. If you saw a clip, it wasn’t impressive. Boring actually. Can’t jump. Slow. Nothing to make you want to see more. No big deal at all, really. But now that you’ve boarded this roller coaster, it can be hard to get him out of your head. There are many more stops on this ride, and each one will take you to levels you didn’t think possible (case in point, right now!) So make sure you’re strapped in and hold on tight, cuz it’s gonna be a wild ride. After that kindergarten grade video, you’re now on the road to earning your Master’s degree in Birdology. The BirdGang be watching every stop, so enjoy the ride.
My favorite Larry Bird trash talking moment was with Brad Daughtery. Brad was a 7 foot All Star center for the Cleveland Cavs. During a national televised game, Bird sets up in the corner. As Bird receives the ball and starts to shoot, Brad comes sprinting out to block the shot. Bird pumps, Brad soars, Bird pulls the ball down, taps Brad on the butt with the ball and says 'Fly bird". Bird then calmly drains the three. Pure savage.
There are tons of Larry Bird vids out there bro. Reacting to his Ultimate Mix Tape would be a great start. It showcases his entire repertoire of brilliance, then you can proceed from there.
Check out the one called Why You Never Poke Larry Bird. Its about the shot for shot shootout between Larry and Dominique Wilkins. It's considered one of the best games in NBA history.
Larry Bird once made a rookie contemplate suicide after a game bc of his trash talk. "I'm starting to think while we're running back down: 'Maybe I shouldn't play basketball, maybe I'm not that good... Maybe I should have been a brick mason? You know, like, what the hell am I doing here? I can't go on now...' If this guy scores another bucket, I'm thinking of suicide. I really was [thinking that]." Jayson Williams
If you go back and research history. Larry bird was the one who really started trash Talking. The players in the 80s started to learn how to Trash talk... It has been passed down through the era
I absolutely love Larry Bird and I do not follow basketball other than the different personalities and in my opinion there's nobody better than the legendary Larry Bird😊😊😊😊😊 he just was on a different level in so many ways including his loyalty to the Boston Celtics😊😊😊😊
Great video, just one recommendation, balance your mic levels you're overpowering the video you're watching and it is hard to hear sometimes, bring your mic down a few db
Ye ain't know about Larry's legendary trash talking? 😂😂😂 Jordan said Larry taught him how to trash talk! Bird was COLD in every single facet of the game! HE WAS DAT DUUDEEE
Look at the players that are talking about Bird......These were the Best at that Time...Many are HOF today... I have never heard more Respect of any Player including Jordan, Kobi, Lebron.. ect.....From othert players.... Must be something to this. Btw new NBA players Do you have Blood on your shirts and can you take a punch in the face and not Bitch???
KG ain't nothing compared to LB when it comes to trash talking. LB has a PhD in talking smack and KG never even graduated from trash talking grade school.
I think LARRY Legend gets over looked because of his look, he did not have that Lebron body look, and he was no flashy dunker. He look like more of a local history teacher. I will take that history teacher in my starting five of all ti😊e hands down
When Michael freakin Jordan. Makes an agreement to tell his teammates, no trash talking Larry. And Bird does the same. Thats the wisest decision to be made. 😅
Bird told the great 80s lakers team what he was going to do in the championship game. Now t only told them what he was going to do but where he was going to shoot from and there wasn’t anything they could do about it. Last second shot for the win
Keep digging young man, you'll find he is the GOAT! He could do anything he wanted to do on the court anytime he wanted. He was unbelievable and even the hall of famers will tell you that.
