I know this is gonna sound funny but I'm 16 and I've been struggling with my racial and ethnic identity my entire life, I have pale skin with freckles but really curly hair that's red-brown half of my families roots are Taino and African, and the other half I don't know, I'm Puerto Rican im boriqua and from seeing this videos I know my roots and I've finally feel proud of it

I've questioned my ethnic identity for a long time too. My ancestors are African and Puerto Rican and I've always felt attached to the idea of Yemaya and feminism is truly my motivation. This video brings me a lot of clarity even tho Ima boy lol

this is so beautiful. my mom is black and my biological dad is puerto rican. he was a sperm donor so i obviously didn’t grow up with him. there’s a whole culture that i’ve not been exposed to. i’ve struggled a lot with my racial identity, my appearance not completely fitting in with one thing. but this video really made me smile. there’s a rich history and culture to my background. ethnic girls can all look super different. i don’t have to be defined by other people and their expectations of how i should look or act. i’m just me. i happen to be black. and i happen to be latina. and i’m beyond proud to be just that.
