This is for the Young Guns II. It had Emilio Estevez, Lou Diamond Phillips, Keifer Southerland, and Christian Slater. It’s about Billy the Kid. My personal thoughts is I love both Young Guns movies. And Emilio Estevez was friends with Jon Bon Jovi and got him to do the songs and music for the second Young Guns movie. 🤘🏽💜
@@kaycee4357 Rarely do I see a movie twice, but I watched both 1&2, twice. Great actors and I love old western type movies about famous people anyway, so....
Brad: You want this played at your funeral? Lex: No, cuz I'm gonna have Blue Oyster Cult 'Don't fear the Reaper, boy" Best comment of the year!! Dam that's a fire comment!
Truly an underrated song. This was a huge hit at the time and seemed to go along well with "Wanted Dead Or Alive" thematically. If you are a lyrics guy like me and Brad, or if you are a fan of Billy The Kid, this song works on many levels. Check out "Las Cruces Jail" by Two Gallants for another GREAT take on rock n roll and Billy The Kid.
The ppl of Young Guns wanted to use “wanted dead or alive” for the sequel. But Jon said that he could write one specifically for the movie. This is it.
@@stixxnstonerz3450 Exactamundo when this MV came out on MTV I had just watched the two Young Guns and so I was already familiar with the clips on the video and it was so so chiling!
If you're doing MOVIE/SONG combos, you cannot possibly overlook Huey Lewis and the News "Power of Love" which was written for the movie "Back To The Future".
And it was used in ALL of them. It was the main theme to the first movie; in the second movie when Marty picks up his guitar (older Marty, at home) but can't play it because of his damaged hand, that's the song he's trying to play; and in the third movie, at the end, when Needles pulls up to challenge him to the drag race, it's the song playing in Needles' car.
That entire album was a total masterpiece. So overlooked. Solo work by Jon Bon Jovi, without the regular band but with a "supergroup" of renowed artists like Jeff Beck, Elton John, Little Richard.
I love both of the Young Gun movies, lol,I still watch them everytime they come on,it doesn`t matter what part I`m tuning in to I`m watching til the end :) Keep On Rockin'
Bon Jovi is the man. His voice is amazing. I grew up in the 80's hearing this song brings back so many memories . You guys kick ass. Keep up the great job you bring to us all with such great music......
This song is actually from Young Guns 2, which is mostly about Billy the Kid. Also not Bon Jovi, which is the name of the band. This song is a Jon Bon Jovi solo project, he did most of the soundtrack for the movie and even had a small part in it.
As well respected as Jon Bon Jovi's voice is, I'm really not sure he gets the credit he deserves. This movie was so huge at the time and the music is what pushed it over the top. (And Jeff Beck is a madman with a guitar) Blue Oyster Cult is a solid funeral pick lmao, and now "come take a dump on a delicate dish" will forever be part of my phrasiology.
They asked Jon bon Jovi if they could use his song "wanted dead or alive" he said no and he wrote this whole album for the movie he is one of the most talented song writers that has ever lived you should listen to the entire album
@@DeansMayhem the producers of the movie asked about using Wanted. I don't think the conversation as far as the where and when before Jon said no and wrote a complete original soundtrack instead
Jon disapproved of using "Wanted Dead or Alive" for the film b/c the lyrics are about musicians touring, hence doesn't match the story of Billy the Kid.
Minor detail: This is a solo song from Jon Bon Jovi. Pretty sure he had a cameo in the film this was written for, Young Guns II. Y’all are awesome, btw.
I saw him in a grocery store in Rumson, New Jersey. I asked someone who worked there if that was him and he warned me not to approach him because he wasn’t cool with that. I liked him in the movie “Cry Wolf” back in 2005. This was circa 2006. He was driving a black Jeep Wrangler.
Emilio Estevez played Billy The Kid in Young Guns and Young Guns 2, he was friends with Jon Bon Jovi and he loved there song Wanted Dead or Alive so Jon went on to do a original song 🎶 for the film but in the end he end up doing the whole soundtrack to the film! John Fusco was the screen writer and producer on the first film he loved Bon Jovi’s Wanted Dead Or Alive and he played it has he wrote and got inspired for the movie he got ahold of Jon to see if they could use the song for part 2 but Jon didn’t think the song fit for Billy The Kid so he came on set with his guitar 🎸 and roam and walking around with the cast and crew and while at lunch on a napkin he wrote Blaze Of Glory in about 6 minutes and the rest is history it was a #1 song! The official video for this is awesome 👏
Ohh wow... I loved this song as a teenager and had the whole album on repeat countless times. I should listen to it again. It's been some years. Greetings from Germany
This was fun. I always think of Bon Jovi as a daggy ol' 80's hair band that I can only appreciate the cheesiness of when I'm in a stupid mood. But re-experiencing songs through Brad & Lex's reactions re-frames them like that... You can see all the talent on display here & the song is really perfectly crafted. Oh and Lex is big on the slide guitar so they need to find some more of that gear.
This song and video are both amazing! The producers of Young Guns II originally wanted to use Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive" for the soundtrack, but Jon wasn't interested in taking that route. Instead, he suggested that he write an original song for it based on the script of the movie... He put together an incredible supergroup of extremely talented and highly respected musicians and wound up writing every song on the Soundtrack, all of which are really great! This was his first time stepping out from his band and doing a "solo project", and the group included Elton John and Little Richard on piano/keyboards, as well as Jeff Beck on guitar. Awesome memories from a wonderful time in my life, and a rather enjoyable movie to boot.
I just recently found your channel and what I like about it is you introduce the song and go straight into it.also I really like how the music moves lex and she gets the story
Technically, this is not the band Bon Jovi... they were taking a break after a 1989 tour. Lead singer Jon Bon Jovi recorded a solo album 'Blaze of glory' in 1990 for the 'Young guns II' movie... Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora recorded a solo album too in 1991. Thankfully, Bon Jovi reunited in 1992 for the 'Keep the faith' album.
I agree. I'm glad the band got back together. But either one of those guys could have made it as a solo artist. Richie would have done better if more people could have thought of him as "Richie Sambora", rather than "the guitar player from Bon Jovi".
Why does everything from this era seem so great? Is it possible that we had the best movies and music all at the same time? Every single song that gets brought up was gold. This song is one of a million great things from the 80s/90s. It's somehow perfect, and yet nothing special.
Both movies and music had a major peak in 80’s, I remember going to a new good movie just about every week with my friends, and I would be buying a new album/CD just about every week (I built up the majority of my 800 CD collection in the 80’s), now the movies are mostly based on comic books, not much else, and music, well, todays popular music is no where near as good as the average song released in the 80’s. Maybe I sound like an old man, lol, but it’s the way I feel. Stay Cool 😎 and… \m/ Stay Metal \m/
Cause we were lucky enough to be young during this period. I was born in 1978 and experienced my childhood in the 80s and teenage years in the 90s, and I feel blessed because I remember a time before smart phones, social media and corporate nonsense that masquerades as “art”.
How I wish everyone could react with out worrying about being blocked. This is a great song and , to me, the best live performance was London 95, when you have over 70 thousand people singing along, there's no words. Thank you Brad & Lex for this.
As a music producer who also owned a food truck, I 100% agree with your comparison of music and food... Music was always playing when I was cooking, and I'm always picturing food when I make music... Lex, you always have really great insight on these videos and I appreciate you for it :)
Featured in the 80’s movie Young Guns, about Billy The Kid and his gang. The movie had an all star cast, Kiefer Sutherland, Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez.
You guys!! Switched RU-vid on this morning and you two made me late for work....cry little sister AND blaze of glory 2 oF my fav 80's movies and soundtracks.....thanks, work can wait😉
this song was written by Jon for the movie young guns 2 .the director said no until Jon grabbed his acustic guitar and played it for him which changed his mind after he heard it .
You can never tell from looking at Brad if he likes a song or not. The same can't be said for Lex, you can definitely tell just from watching her reaction.
Went to see these in Milton Keynes in the 90s, with an old gf(love of my life). She was a Bon Jovi freak. Got through all the support acts, slowly getting her to the front. JBJ come on stage, crowd surged and she couldnt handle it. St Johns ambulance pulled her out, ended up RIGHT at the back heh.
The first step forward in becoming a better pauser is admitting you have a problem. I'm proud of you Brad, you are willing to face this thing head on. You got this, keep your head up.lol
I literally saw the title and thought "Awwwe sh*t, I'm goin' down the rabbit hole!"...with a bit of joyful glee lol. And I love my Sister rocking out over there! \☺/
So this was for the movie Young Guns 2. The producers wanted to use the song Wanted Dead Or Alive. But Jon Bon Jovi said it didn’t fit. So he said he would write a new song for them and ended up writing the whole soundtrack. Of note. This wasn’t the band Bon Jovi. This was a solo project by Jon Bon Jovi while the band was on hiatus.
The lead work and slide guitar is done by Jeff Beck one of the best guitarists, his guitar playing is way beyond anything that others do very blues and rock and abstract this man is in great demand. He is right up there with Eric Clapton, David Gilmour, Richie Blackmore. Jimmy Page and Jeff were both in the same band together for a short while called The New Yardbirds.
I gotta say this is my favorite Bon Jovi song. They always play Livin' On a Prayer on the radio, lol, and I've heard it enough. This song, with the harmonizing with Ritchie Sambora and the gritty twang is a wow factor for me. Can't get enough. It kicks ass! ♥️👍
They don't play them at funerals. The songs that remind you of people is the exact kind of songs my sister and I set up with slideshows at each of our Grandparents' funerals. Songs they danced to, songs that reminded us of them, songs they liked, etc....
What's really impressive is JBJ also did the backing vocals to blaze of glory as well! If you listen to the vocals only you can hear just how impressive his range is!
