Because you had real musicians who where actually better than their peers at what they did ..couple that with emerging and experimental technological advancements like synthesizers and the fairlight...we didn't celebrate mediocrity like we do now...if you sucked you sucked and it didn't matter if it hurt your feelings or not
For those of us that grew up in the 80’s know this one movie inspired every single one of boys to take karate even if some of us never made it past white belt lmao !!!!!!
@@olally7270 Comment brought me back here now. Ironic cos I've been humming this since yesterday....not kidding. Can't wait to show my daughters Karate Kid in a couple of years. I never realized how much this song would mean to me in my mid-40s. Try to make it last, Nothing you can do, In a photograph, The innocence you left behind is staring back at you. Young hearts beat fast, Driving down the road. Rubber, plastic, metal, glass. Why did you have to go? Young hearts die young, When they're all alone and there is no turning back now. There is no turning back. There is no turning back. Knowing where you're bound, Its coming in to you. Then you turn around, The innocence you thought you'd lost is now caught up to you. Young hearts beat fast, Driving down the road. Rubber, plastic, metal, glass. Why did you have to go? Young hearts die young, When they're all alone and there is no turning back now. Young hearts beat fast, Driving down the road. Rubber, plastic, metal, glass. Why did you have to go? Young hearts die young, When they are all alone and there is no turning back now. Time enough to live, Never time to die. All you had to give, Taken by the one you loved and given to a lie. Why? Young hearts beat fast, Driving down the road. Rubber, plastic, metal, glass. Why did you have to go? Young hearts die young, When they are all alone and there is no turning back now. Young hearts beat fast, Driving down the road. Rubber, plastic, metal, glass. You should look at Cobra Kai...wow what a great revisit. My wife and I had this play at our reception 25 years ago. Getting older but still young hearts. Thanks for the lyrics!
This movie is so well done. It's just a classic. Lots of movies have these same elements, but boy does this one just piece them together in the perfect way, with the perfect cast. Incredible movie and a great song.
Yes, good movie, good soundtrack, at that time director John Avildsen had a small budget of $8M and the movie made in USA alone $90M... it was a big hit :) the only thing was that the producers did not agree with Shue's role in KK2, thus ending Ali's storyline abruptly after all they went through. A big mistake. By KK3 the franchise was not the same and director John did not like how KK3 was done.
RyuHayabusa06 i know this is a comment from 2 years ago but if you still love Karate Kid watch Cobra Kai. Holy moly it is amazing and it really shouldn't be. DO RECOMMEND
I love the upbeat, warm, electric nature of this song. The Saw-Wave sound soloing right along with the electric guitar combined with the arpeggiator is all top notch 80s man!
If you grew up in the 90s or even the 2000s prior to the Financial crisis, you technically did experience a more upgraded version of the 80s with the same elements of the 80s.
ME TOO! And - they choreographed it perfectly! From camera angles, to what cord of the song played when they first show the Golf N Stuff sign. It's nice to know people treasure these things like I do.
This is the absolutely the perfect song for this scene, every time I see it on TV I have to watch it all over again because it makes you feel young again if only for a moment. Love this scene, one of my favorite of the whole film, there are so many in The Karate Kid, a truly iconic movie that I can watch over again and still love it just as much with each repeated viewing!
I was a teen in the '80s and while some stuff was better, so much was worse. Just live the best bits now - dress it, listen to music, watch the movies, avoid social media and living online, see your friends irl when you can. Not all of it was great - there was less pressure, but much less opportunity, and the amount of racism, sexism, ableism, anti-lgbt+ was absolutely through the roof. Find your happiness where you are, because you can't be anywhere else!
If you really want to experience the 80s, turn your cell phone off, get a landline phone, completely remove yourself from all social media, read the news paper and if you get on a pc for anything stay in DOS which I suppose is just the command prompt these days. Do computers even use that anymore? 🤔
Just went to Golf-N-Stuff today! It was so exciting and a lot still looks the same. I couldn't stop talking about this movie while there. Childhood dream fulfilled!
No way it's the same. They got rid of the slide which ruined it. Arcade is not there or is so different. Totally want to go to the 80's version of Golf N Stuff not today's version.
Elizabeth Shue didn't really think so. She wanted the guy she was dating (i.e., Matt Dillon) to play Daniel. I thought Ralph Macchio was a much better choice for the underdog. I also can't see Dillion fixing all that stuff around Mr. Miyagi's place. 😂
It's hard for me to hear this song without tearing up.. Where did the time go? I still remember seeing this movie for the first time like it was yesterday.. I was too young to catch the first one in the theater, but my parents took me and my brother to see the second and the third one the day they came out..
Elizabeth Shue is definitely in my top 5 80's movie crushes. Just a vision of gorgeousity and she still looks incredible for her age. Really hope Cobra Kai get her for season 2 or 3
Those 1980's!!! This movie came out in mid-teens 14. Gosh! what wonderful memories. Great movies, Great music, Great dancing.... Much better than now 2022!!! Please take me back to those times!!

@Ace Degenerate and yet it would be something you'd never do cause you're too busy complaining and criticizing and not doing anything useful for anyone. So tell yourself that it's just copy and paste and go do it on every song you listen to on youtube and when you are about to stop just tell yourself to calm down and continue to keep copying and pasting.
@Ace Degenerate nothing wrong with being a cashier anywhere. Anyone who does an honest job to make a living for their kids is a hero. Also, walmart gives opportunities to the disabled. Hopefully you or someone in your family never goes through that but it is not easy for a disabled person to find a job, so walmart (amongst other companies) is a blessing. I suggest to you to stop treating the internet as a house for negativity. Ironically though your negative commemt led me to this music video again and reminded me how much i like this song. So thanks!
The good ole days when a date (or just hanging out with friends) was going to a place like Golf and Stuff. Arcade, go-carts, putt putt, batting cages, roller skating and pizza. What could possibly be better?
Brings back so many memories. When you can actually make plans with friends and not have to text them to remind them to show up. People were more reliable back then. Now everyone is so flaky.
God i Miss those dayz of old. Honestly, Feel very lucky n blessed to have grown up in those times. This is one those songs that takes you straight back to those days. Your heart feels love n joy & Feels Yearning and hurt at the same time and that equals to THANKFUL👍🏼

I pray to god that when my son is 20 years old, he doesn't look back at he music from 2015 and think its as good as I find this to be...What happened to good ol' 80's music?
Contrary to popular belief, good music is not subjective. So, he won't. As to what happened? Let's just be thankful we got some 4 decades or so of great music and we can listen to these songs till real musicians reappear.
I may be wrong on this, but I feel technology has consumed us so much we have lost most of our humanity along with many of the arts. Most schools where I live do not even have music programs any more. Religion, ethical principles, morals, virtues, compassion, love for nature....etc are all slipping away. Now its just playing on a lit screen. I feel this has had a major impact on music today. However, every once in a while they have some good stuff come out that gives us hope.
@@xXxBladeStormxXx Lmao, good music does still exist. You're just listening to the hits of the 80's. The best songs of this decade will be the ones that are remembered. Get out there and find the good music.
@@charliem3951 There are some modern gems which could rival any of the best old music. I personally love Tame Impala. Daft Punk's RAM (if you want to call it new) was also a masterpiece.

Who remembers good movies from the 80s like Rocky, Karate Kid, The Goonies, Top Gun, and The Breakfast Club. Now, All we have these days are stupid ass Disney movies. I bet all the people who were kids in the 80s would agree with me about everything.
I was born in 1984 so I was more a 90s kids, but I totally agree with you. Movies rocked in the 80s. Don’t forget about Robocop, Terminator, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Back to the Future and ET. Disney has ruined films.
@@dozzalad5649 lmaoooo ur so angry for what? i love 80s movies im just saying some modern movies have great cinematography and plot no need to get your panties in a bunch
The thing is that you are nearly correct on the situation of age however statically speaking the motion of the movie would actually be 40 degrees below sea level and the dolphins couldn’t cope with this if you get me ?
Love this song!!!! Reminds me of 1st time watching in 1992 December with my relatives in Dallas, TX and when I was 8. Remember in 1999 watching Karate Kid 2 in Spanish in my Spanish class under my Colombian teacher's Spanish class. Interesting we saw Karate Kid 2 rather than Karate Kid 1 in that Spanish class lol.
Proud to be a Columbia High Alum along with Elisabeth Shue. She is a great actor and does not get enough credit for her long and very successful career. Elisabeth and her brother Andrew are good people and genuine.
I think so many of us who grew up in the eighties can say that that time just felt exciting and special. Back then when we were experiencing it. There was a feeling of possibility and everything seemed special and exciting. I mean, not everything was all roses but it was for the most part simple and yet full of possibility and wonder. Part of me wonders if kids today feel that the same way we did.
as an adult you see so much of the darker stuff we never thought about as kids, while Miyagi was winning those military medals(one was the medal of honor) his wife was in a US japanese internment camp, his wiife died giving birth to their kid..yeah..america killed a veteran's kid for being japanese while he fought their war
They don’t. They feel far more pressure to be independent without being shown enough love to allow someone the confidence to be independent. Family values are in crisis which has led to a teen mental health emergency and attention spans of children and teens is so haywire it’s causing strange development flaws. …and I haven’t even mentioned the increases in violence among young people or the continued upward motion with pressure to fit in and all that comes with that (kids genuinely distressed because they got an “android” instead of an iPhone, for example). It’s awful to be a child right now.
The magic of the 80s definitely has gone. The rise of social media and internet connectivity has removed the need to meet people physically. The 80s and 90s and it’s pop culture were about magic, discovery, adventure and positivity. Since then everything seems like it has to be dark, moody, angsty, subversive and full of cultural self hate I hope the next social shift brings back the optimism and aspirationalism that we’ve lost
I was not born in the 80's but as I would have liked, everything was very different from now. I love the 80's especially the music of that year, greetings from Mexico ..
Who else knows all the dialogue the characters are speaking here? Nearly all word for word? Been watching it repeatedly all my life.. n I'm 38. I absolutely love this song!
Elizabeth Shue was my childhood crush thanks to this movie and "Adventures and Babysitting" I always had a thing for the innocent looking pretty girls.😍
garron guzman cool. This series surprised me. First because of this 80s vibe with music. Second the character connection. We care for all of them. I'm so glad now to think about 80s
Yeah it is a perfect addition to the Karate Kid movies. I like how it shows it from a different perspective, and how you can see the good and the bad in each person
Great movie and easily the best song on the Soundtrack no doubt!!!! I wasn’t alive the 80s but this song makes me feel like i was! 😂😆😁👍🥋 I feel like I’m Daniel-Son cruising down the road in that old yellow car while this banger plays!!!!! ✌️🙏🏻👍🍿
Another 80's song that you never remember because the final scene soundtrack is the one that you always remember. But still, this is a great classic of the Golden era of music. Long live the 80's
