anjopag31 sorry this is late but yes mostly. Both my brothers were in ISEF and they had a mentor help them to build and conduct their science project. They tested something with drones and the other tested something with kayaks.
A long time ago I posted a vicious comment on this video about how he laughed as a girl. I am ashamed of that today. I really don't know what else to say other than I didn't even know who i was during that dark time. I know this is odd but I needed to apologize. Sorry, I've grown up now and I hope this kid has done and continues to do great things. We need more people like him and less intolerance and ignorance like I used to be.
This kid has made one of the greatest discoveries in the history of our modern world. His effort will almost assuredly save your life or someone's life close to you. He is, at the age of 15, one of the greatest minds of our time. I am humbled.
Jack is a blessing to all of us, not just those of us who have cancer, are at risk for cancer, will never have cancer ... or even ever know of persons who are or might be effected indirectly by cancer. He's a blessing to humanity.
Nerd ? He's a genius. Wish there was more youngsters like him :) My uncle died from pancreas cancer too... He did a big thing for humanity, you guys show some respect for his amazing works
Can't understand the negative comments. Congratulations Jack! What you have done is amazing. So very proud of you and what you have done to help so many!
Yes Sara, Jack Andraka is most assuredly an inspiration to us all. I find few Americans that make me proud to be an American, but Jack Andraka surely does. I wish only the best to this brilliant young man. Many more successes.
I show this video to my 8th grade research class every year. It is a wonderful testament to the passion of truly believing in yourself and a commitment to being the best you can be. My greatest achievement as a teacher is when I can inspire young students to reach their potential: whatever that might be. Kudos to this amazing young man, I can only imagine how he will change the world in the future.
Carbon nanotubes were used to help develop the test, the test involves the biomarker, mesothelin, found in specific cancers such as pancreatic cancer. The mesothelin can be found in the blood and urine and the dip stick used to indicate the presence of mesothelin costs $0.03.
What an inspiring, focused, compassionate young man. The world needs more like him. Congratulations Jack, you deserve all the accolades & the money to pursue your vision! salute. Lew
Amazing! this little boy proves our civilization its evolving in the correct path... OMG you blew me away Jack Andraka... My respects; I feel I have done nothing with my profession and I am a Medical Physician.... Amazing!!
I love his reaction, going around and hugging people and the whole time his mouth is wide open. Though, if I won an award at INTEL ISEF i'd probably have a similar reaction haha
This is amazing. If he does NOTHING ELSE for the rest of his life, he's done more than the rest of most of the world. In years to come, he will have saved thousands upon thousands of lives. Well done. He has every reason to be proud.
A born genious! His reaction clearly states that he truly DESERVES the genious brain he has been gifted with. What an uplifting, positive and amazing achievement. It brought tears to my eyes.
omg look at how happy he is when he's announced as the winner! i wish i could have one moment in my life where i can be that happy :'D this kid is just wonderful. i hope he'll always be his bright, brilliant self
To be honest, his reaction scared me a little bit, BUT, after what he did -he's right out there putting many scientists to shame with his research. He should have received a million dollars instead! He deserves to get the funding to continue on with his research. I sincerely wish him the best to succeed in his endeavors. We need more bright people like him.
I read his book, and it said that he had BY FAR the best in the medicine category. Loads of judges stood around his stand. He did, however, think that someone in another category would win. :)
This is really late but essentially the way ISEF works is that the only choose the Gordon E. Moore Award from the pool of people who get Best in Category, which was already announced earlier.
Jack, this is an awesome use of the 'super-hero' single walled carbon nano-tube. Brilliant concept and a deserving ISEF win for the MANY lives it will affect. I too lost a beloved uncle to pancreatic cancer because diagnosis typically occurs so late. I can't wait to see your follow on work. I'll be watching you!
Jack gives me hope for humanity! What a FABULOUS young man! Nobel Award - get ready for this young man! I hope to live long enough to see him get this award!! GOD BLESS!
I do respect this kid too, but reading the comments I see so many people wishing the same for their lives, keep in mind that you're just looking him receiving the reward, people have their own problems. If you want this so bad too, so go get it! Whiling others people lives only make you unhappier, stick with you and get what you want!
I know this guy in real life.....and to think he was hampering peoples daily compute 4 years ago by latching on to other people's legs.....he is an amazing kid...
Thank you, Jack! I feel as though I should address you as Dr. Andraka. Brilliant discovery and creation! Far too many people are dying due to this horrible pancreatic cancer. Again, thank you, thank you!
