I have been watching the action at Pipe over the course of the last few weeks on RU-vid and noticed this surfer who makes his surfing do all the talking for him. His style and power just stood out head and shoulders above the rest, and dare I say it I felt he was the only surfer out there on a level with John John Florence. Maybe even better. Soon enough I heard this young chap's name - Jack Robinson. I have been blown away by his pure talent and was shocked now to see how young he is. I reckon he has World Champion stuff in his veins. He is definitely one to watch.
He is a future world champ for sure, I have been blown away only just discovering him lately, his speed, flow and effortless perfect turns reminds me of the closest thing I have ever seen to Kelly Slater.
W T F !!!!! I've never seen a human being go from paddling position to standing on a surfboard position like that in my life!..? Is this guy an alien!!? .. And then!,.. He stands backside in one of the most Torrid barrels on the planet Earth like he's standing in line for ice cream or something!?
Him And Baron Mamiya are the freak level talents of this generation. It's almost absurd the preternatural depth of understanding of body and wave dynamics.
Oh Evolution you unrelenting force of nature! To see Laird slay this beast just a short time ago and now young groms treating it as if it were routine. We humans are unreal.
I wonder what his mother worries when he surfs this spot. One of my kids got well mauled at Cloudbreak a few years ago but it didn’t deter him one little bit.
This could have been a great clip but then some stupid editor decides to run it all in slomo and we get no sense of the power and speed of these incredible waves at all. News Flash : heavy powerful waves like this is a great viewing experience, when run at actual speed.
He looked like he was just waiting for a bus every time he got a wave! That’s how comfortable he looked. So thrilled he one in Mexico! Now for the WSL title. Come on Jack!!!
ahah i was on the boat with these dudes, finally posting it 5 years later!!! lol i have a clip of the wave @1:40 check it out, just uploaded it, sorry its vert
I'd imagine he's fairly at peace with you having your point of view. He's living a great life, using a talent that few people are gifted with. I doubt he even sees what nonentities think of him... he's too busy living fully.
Apologies for the non-surfing question but my kid asked me - what is this song? They lift the "jewels flashing in the light of time" from Joseph Conrad
