I have suffered with eczema since I was a newborn baby, and I am alergic to soap, tap water and chlorine. If I were to shower daily like most people I would have my whole body looking like this lady's hands...

Figuring out what's triggering an allergic or intolerant reaction is a horrible and sometimes lengthy process. Especially when family doesn't believe it, even the ones in the medical field. Like reacting to Shae butter.

I helped a customer that is allergy to a chemical used in dish soap. I helped her read all the labels to find one that didn't have that in it.

My mum has non-anaphylactic “cold urticaria”, which basically means she’d break out in hives all over when that area is exposed to colder temperatures. It honestly looks so painful, even though it doesn’t trigger anaphylaxis (blocked airway due to swelling from the allergy, for those who don’t want to look it up). I’m worried that will change one day, though; that her allergy will get worse... 😥

I think what's really sad about these programs and the comments under each video is how many people have just been left to suffer with debilitating conditions without help. As someone who's also had a number of chronic conditions that took a long time to identify and required going to specialist after specialist, its really frustrating to see this happening to so many people. The way our current health system is so fragmented and underfunded, it's so difficult to find a doctor who has the time or willingness to actually try and solve ongoing conditions or more complex issues. When we have the knowledge, tools and medicine to treat things that cause so much distress to people and prevent them from doing thier job or daily tasks, yet they go untreated, it just shows how much the current system is lacking. The NHS is so important and the fact that many people have to seek private help to get the treatments they need makes them inaccessible to those who don't have enough money.

I’d love to get allergy testing done to see what causes my dermatographia flareups. But its so expensive, and insurance doesnt give a shit unless something is actively killing you :/

When I was 2, I got eczema on the bend of my arms. It went away for a long time. When I went to high school, I broke out on my neck, face and arms. It went away once I was put on steroid creams. When I reached my senior years, it came back and never went away. It became extreme to the point I couldn't sleep anymore. I fought for 3 year solid years from 2015-2018. I was clear from late 2018 and all of 2019. When COVID happened, I was consistently washing my hands and now a year later and my hands have never been the same.... I stopped going to a doctor because steroid creams is all I was given. I'm now finding ways to treat it. While it does get better, it ends up worse later.

As someone who was a nail tech a lot of people are allergic to acrylic or gel nail ingredients. Something to think about.

this is so fantastic! The reality of allergens is very real and the worst part is finding what allergen is causing the problem. I had a similar issue with my eyes. I started taking mass cell stabilizers to solve it.

I ended up with contact dermatitis myself working in the kitchen of a nursing home, forever washing my hands and not always putting a cream on afterwards was very detrimental to my skin. So glad the dr was able to help her, especially after so many years with it.

I had the same thing for so many years. My own sweat would break me out too. So I couldn't leave gloves on for long periods of time. I no longer work in an industry where I'm washing dishes a lot, and it has cleared up. But you can see the scaring on a couple of my fingers still.

Saw that tub of Cereve and thought yup, that’s the one. In winter, I suffer from a combo of extremely dry skin and urticaria (heat/sweat induced hives) and that is the best to treat it, at least after using a couple of creams for psoriasis to get rid of the really acute problem.

I have contact dermatitis and I understand what she is going through. Mine was so bad at one time that one of my hands was stuck in place because the skin was so bad. I had to use steroid cream, but now I use CeraVe moisturising cream and vasaline. no scents and cream not lotions but the vasaline is the original in the tub. The CeraVe she is using is the same I use andnit is amazing.

Doublebase and Epaderm are both great. I also need Dermavate, and Protopic ointment for when my Pompholyx Eczema flares. I’m recently diagnosed with Eczema, and awaiting an allergy patch test. Best wishes to this lovely woman and her family💖

I have something similar called asteatotic eczema. I'd had winter outbreaks of it as a child, but my most recent attack had been the worst and most stubborn by far. I'm also an immunocompromised infant teacher, which means my hands get washed or sanitized a lot! Luckily, my hands and fingers feel so much better now. The dermatologist prescribed a steroid cream and talked about how we could help heal and maintain the skin barrier with different cleansers and moisturizers. I use a lot of baby eczema products, as they're always a safe choice. My favorite products come from Baby Dove, Baby CeraVe, Aveeno baby eczema therapy, and Aquaphor. TLDR: Dermatologists are amazing

Oh my god. Recently whenever my arms and legs get wet I get SO itchy. Like claw my skin off itchy.

I had a similar thing when I was a teenager using roll on deodorant. It made my armpits and arms glow red with a terrible soreness. Turns out I was allergic to most roll on deodorant, but not the aerosol.

I also have dermatitis on my hands and its been an absolute nightmare. I had one of the worst flareups these past few months that wouldn't go away, my fingers were bumpy, itchy, scaly and the skin was thick and hard. I finally found something that helped me get rid of it but now the insides of my fingers are all wrinkly because the skin was pulled so taught. :(

I had something like this due to an elevated episode of ocd... I was washing my hands too much ... Lotions n creams helped of courses addressing the issue did as well too....(ocd)

This is starting to happen to me.. I noticed a fee years back little pin head blisters. .. These things are now spreading to other fingers and its so uncomfortable.. Talking to my Dr Soon..

My hands got real bad when I was working in fast food. They were worse than this, cracked, swollen, red, skin peeling, tons of tiny blisters, etc. It took me almost a year to realize the culprit - the soap at work. I was washing my hands dozens of times a day with soap I was allergic to. I started bringing my own soap and my hands cleared up so quickly.

WTF, my hands look the same after washing them 😳 I have this since I went to kindergarten but my parents never brought me to a dermatologist so I just learned to live with it I guess? I use a shit ton of hand creams but they only work (kind of) until I wash my hands again. It also kinda spreads too because when I use lots of creams a day, it's normally only on my hands but if I don't for some reason, it starts to appear on my knuckles too

gaaaaawd I used to get this when I worked as a holistic therapist! Used to have to slap on steroid cream every night until I found out I couldn't use Lavender, which as an aromatherapist at the time is veeery difficult! But stopped using it and my hands are all fine now! Never using the stuff again but always keeping an eye out just in case!

Dermatitis is such a terrible disease. I only had it on a spot on my finger and it spread all around the whole of the finger and wouldve effected more if I hadn't of used the treatment that I did. Now its 95% better although there is a small patch of roughness which I'm hoping goes away or at least doesnt cause another flare up. Ps. I used steroid cream(prevents inflammation) and hyaluronic acid(retains moisture in the skin)

This is exactly what I have on my hands. I also had to change jobs because of contact dermatitis and it got better but didn't go completely. Steroid cream is the only thing that works for me. I need to get this allergy check!

I had had a problem to wash my hands with soap. But solid perfume-free soaps were the solution for me.

I have dyshidrotic eczema on my Hands foe about 5 years and I use Protopic 0,1% and Elocon (cortisone ). The best treatment for me. 🙂

My hands and feet looked like hamburger when I was in the fifth grade. It was so painful. I am much better but very careful which soaps I use and lotions. I hate the looks when I leave public bathrooms and people see you not use the soap and they look at you weird. I have sanitizer with aloe and then I use a thick lotion to keep my hands from drying until I can get a good clean. When I am able I carry small soap when I know I’m driving/traveling for the day. She will always have to be mindful of her skin.

Year by year my body will developed a new kind of eczema, so I went to all dermatologist on my town most of the time they will recommend asteroid injection but all my family members opposed that idea so I am living all my life with eczema :

It was probably her constantly working with hair products and her hands being wet triggered the eczema...

My godmother is deathly allergic to hair dye! Like…throat swelling, eyes bulging….ER/ICU visits!

Ok so the title is incorrect then? Lol. She’s not allergic to hand washing at all. She just has to use emollient based creams to wash her hands in. I have contact dermatitis & a milder form of OCD - which includes over washing of hands, & I can’t bring myself to use the emollient creams as I don’t find my hands are clean 😖 I’m having quite a bad flare up at the moment with huge splits in my fingers & palms, that won’t heal. So I sympathise. It makes me very self conscious too. I’ve had eczema since I was a baby & for the most part it’s cleared up except on my hands. I only wish my doctors would help a bit more / be more understanding but nevermind! We just have to get on with it the best we can. Your daughter is beautiful :)

This looks like topical steroid withdrawal. If she stopped using steroid cream, moisturisers & let her hands dry out it’d take 6-12 months for her skin to fully heal. I’ve gone through the same experience and it was tough but leaving my skin alone was the best option in the end.

God anyone with a brain already knows this. And if you don't, well if you didn't know all of this before, then you must have done more drugs than I did & completely fried your brain. As soon as I saw it I knew what caused it, what she needs to do, & how she needs to do the up keep of things.

I used to get a milder version of this when I was younger and attending culinary school, assumed brought on because of the many times we had to wash our hands when in the kitchens at school, and to this day the only thing that was ever able to get rid of it on me is the hemp hand protector from the body shop. I still swear by that lotion, though I'm not usually a body shop fan :)
