today i just finished Young Mungo omg!! i cried so much!! so many emotions!! and the end?? Amazing book! i enjoyed so much going with Mungo!

i love the way he says love isn't worth much unless it's tested. then you can really tell what it's actually worth and how much you'll fight for it

Fantastic book. Talented and refreshing author. Has had a profound affect on me as can relate to some of it. Dreadful interviewer. She talks too much and is not fluent and should have focused on Young Mungo.

A terrible book. Full of violence, tragedy, rape, a young girl being abused by her teacher. A mother so drunk she has no idea she has responsibilities. A brother into selling drugs , with a young baby in his flat. Homophobia and racist slurs abound. I have never read anything so depressing in my entire life. The newspaper reviews on the cover of the book hint at humour. Well, there is nothing funny about the tragic lives of working class people. I cannot believe anyone would think this book is worthy of a prize.
