That's one happy dog: not only is she in nature, but she gets to do the work her ancestors did for millennia. She's using her muscles *and* her brain. Unlike so many poorly trained, spoiled, unhealthy, neurotic, Prozac-stuffed dogs stuck in city apartments.
First of all, the area in which you live is beautiful!! The natural fence line that has been created is incredible! You don’t see that kind of thing in America, no. Your area looks like a postcard. It’s Stunning! 2nd. Idk how you got that dog to do all that stuff. Or how it even heard you that quietly, & so far away. What a smart dog!!🐾👍🏻 I had my beloved little doggie 17 years & couldn’t get her to sit, stay or come. That’s ok. She was my best friend & we literally did everything together. More of an indoor, lap dog. ☺️ She would have had a ball at your place but have been very naughty at first, I’m sure.😁 You work wonders with our four legged partners. ✊🏻 Very Cool! 3rd. As a 57 year old mom, I must say, I’m very proud of you.😊 Well done!! 👏🏻 I’d like to see more videos if possible, please. I grew up in the woods, but the country side is especially beautiful to see again too. Very nice video! Thank you. :)
Border Collies are the #1 smartest dog above all other breeds. They are not a breed that is happy to lay around. Otherwise they become destructive. They were breed to do a job. Love the relationship you have with your dog.
Aww! The border collie mix I grew up with was named Shadow, too. My folks had originally named her Sweetie, because she was adopted on Sweetest Day, but she took to my mom like a moth to flame. Especially when she was pregnant with me, Shadow just stuck right beside her. Wonderful, beautiful dog, and the best babysitter you could ask for. She even saved my life once. I hope she's on the other side getting all the belly scratches she can stand.
I could watch your dog work all day! I don't know what you say to her but she is so quick to respond. It looks like she is far away and you speaking quietly
I'm pursuing degree in veterinary and i always wish of setting up a clinic and a farm in these type of open space places surrounded with sheeps and dogs and cows, in hope of getting peace
Glad you came up in recommended. The first video was the poor ewe stuck on her back for quite some time. The one who had so much trouble getting going again. Then the one who got up pretty quickly. Now this one. I've subscribed.
How far is the dog from you in the last field? You're speaking so quiet and your dog hears you? Like I know their hearings better of course but dang lol.
What a cool video! It's amazing how dogs can do that stuff. At my grandmother's farm the dogs always help with guiding the cattle so one doesn't run away, what's more impressive for me is how they learned that without training at all!
I’ve had her about a year and a half now. She is still improving but the bulk of her training is complete. She’s the first dog I’ve trained myself and all of my commands are unconventional. It’s more so just whatever felt right.
So I’ve got a question the sheep are clearly running away from the dog when it’s chasing so I was wondering do they understand that it’s just trying to tell them where to go and over time they understand it’s not a predator? Or are they running away because they’re instincts tell them to run away from predators. Basically are they scared of the dog?
I’ve wondered that as well … they don’t seem scared but they do run 😂 also I have little idea what a scared sheep would look or sound like other than I think they might bleat a lot maybe 🤔
I'm not an expert by any means but guessing that they will understand that the dog isn't a predator eventually. (sheep are smarter than people think) But I'd figure being chased by what's basically a diet version of a wolf isn't very comforting for the sheep lol. Maybe it's instinct?
Hi Michael!..I'm your fan from the Philippines..we don't have sheep farms in our country..just 1 curious question, is it also possible to run a sheep farm without using sheepdogs?..
Hi and thank you so much for watching! It is certainly possible to run a sheep farm without sheep dogs, however life is so much easier with a good dog to help. Also there’s a lot of fulfilment and joy to be found in training and bonding with your own dog.
I pretty much break all of the rules when it comes to picking a dog. I bought shadow at nine months old - which is way older than usual. I got her because I liked her, and because she had been around farm machinery (although not trained) and she’d been around kids and I have two very young children. Not usually the considerations that farmers have, but she’s with me nearly all the time and is fantastically patient with my kids. She’ll never win any competitions but then again neither will I!
Joh 10:1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. Joh 10:2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. Joh 10:3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. Joh 10:4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. Joh 10:5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. Joh 10:6 This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them. Joh 10:7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
wow… just as i saw this, i had just sent a long message to someone on youtube who is under the spell of a false teacher, urging them to depart from that false teacher and trust in Jesus Christ alone for their salvation! wow! i pray that that person, by God’s grace, is a sheep of Jesus who moves back to the “correct field” of trusting in Jesus alone by faith alone to the Glory of God alone!!!!
