Sheldon walking in on his dad and the other woman was a big event in his life. It would be wrong of the show to omit this and other big moments.

There character of George is very important to us because there aren't many real dads on TV showsi He's important to the show because he is the only reality-like parent on the show. The other characters are like one-dimensional stereotypes.

After BBT ended with the nobel prize money sheldon invented time travel and goes back to stop young Sheldon from entering the room but he was stopped by Miguel right before he stops the kid Miguel: Its a canon event dude. U cant stop it 🗿

I really don't understand why Brenda wouldn't tell Mary that she drove Mandy to the hospital because Mandy was in labor. That is what happened.

George was boutta cry about his grandaughter being born and he looked over at Mary, probably wanting to hug her despite their marital bullshit, but she couldn't even look at him 😬

I love the character of George the dad. He's imperfect (isn't everyone?) but a lovable, kind man. He puts up with a lot from all of them but still manages to step up for his family. My favorite episode was when he was with Missy on the way to a ballgame. They stopped so she could use the ladies room then emerged telling her father (in a roundabout way) that her first period had started. George's reaction was hilarious and the way he handled it was adorable. I love the guy. 😊

This is what I keep saying when people get all upset about YS being off canon with TBBT. TBBT was entirely from Sheldon’s perspective and we all know his take on a situation isn’t necessarily the the same as it would be to most people. YS shows you how it really happened from the point of view of the whole family. I mean Sheldon never mentioned MeeMaw drank swore and gambled. To Sheldon he was her “moon pie” and she sang soft kitty. I personally am so glad Connie is so much more than we were led to believe. Also he said they were having “relations” not “coitus” He alway uses the term “coitus” for sex so what’s Sheldon’s definition of relations? Is kissing ,maybe fooling around a little bit or is it coitus?

Since Mary said at the end of the episode that she would stay at Meemaw’s place, it’s most likely that Brenda will sleep with George at The Coopers Residence which is where Sheldon’s infamous cheating story from TBBT kicks in.

I LOVE George 's character!!! I think he was completely misrepresented in TBBT...he was a kind man who stood up for what was right and always put his wife and family first...I wish that Missy tells Sheldon that he walked in on his mom and dad in bed and Mary had on a blonde wig to spice up their love life!

It's really interesting they're giving each other shit for sinful feelings, but both have actually respected the marriage. At least for now.

I blame Mary for how Bratty Sheldon is & for her marriage break up. Also she was horrible mother to her other children. A hypocrite & cared more for her image than actually for Jesus

Maybe they decide to divorce, but Mary wants to keep up "appearances" so they don't tell the kids they are separating. Maybe Sheldon saw what he saw, and I thought his dad was cheating on his mom, but actually the parents had agreed on living separate lives

Considering how much Sheldon himself changed in TBBT, I think it's reasonable to assume his stories about his childhood aren't always accurate. As we see on Young Sheldon he was very much coddled by Mary and a point of contention in his family but he believes himself to be what holds his family together. For example when everything first started with Mandy being pregnant and Mary getting fired he goes to his college Dean and whines about how much trouble he has concentratrating. When he certainly would be able to know the effect on his family, he does if fact as he gives a speech in church. Hypocrite just like his mommy. The dean calls Mary and basically tells her to get her life together. We're seeing memories from a very self centered child. And now with Sheldon as the narrator we hear him say he wished he thanked his dad for certain things. And we know George to be a good man and Mary to be nuts and condescending. When TBBT was in it's infancy no one imagined Young Sheldon so we all have to employ a Suspension of Disbelief, a technique used so we can watch movies with dinosaurs and people survive a fall off a 10 story building and we know it's not real. Let's just enjoy a good TV show and not push it off the air because we want it to follow a predetermined time and storyline.

1:31 The story I find hardest to believe is when Sheldon said in ‘The Thanksgiving Decoupling’ that his father shot the TV 📺 when his favourite football team didn’t win. Maybe his memory elaborated that too 🤷‍♀️

George is pushing Mary away. I really feel sorry for Missy! I think the writers are trying to find a way around killing off George. If they only had to deal with Sheldon and Mary it might not be so hard, but Georgie’s statements about life after George’s death make that impossible.

They shouldn’t omit it that’s for sure. It clearly had an impact on him so I think it’s important to show this stuff.

I say it's about time... I have never liked Sheldon's mom and as both series progressed I liked her even less.

Fun Fact: The writer's of Young Sheldon original plan to not do this storyline and basically try to explain it away as a it's not what it looked like thing. There reasoning was the show had grown it own following of people who never seen the original series. And they were scared the darker storyline would scare those viewers off. Big Bang OG fans freaked out on the. and accused them of a money grab and basically forgotten the fan that original made them popular. The writers backtrack pretty quick and confirmed they were stick to Sheldon originally storyline.

I feel kinda bad for Brenda and Rob honestly. Rob seems a bit more upfront but they both are only moving forward cause the maried ones let them

In BBT Sheldon tends to embellish things a lot. He won’t confess that they impacted him deeply, however. It’s his way of protecting his emotions because he doesn’t want to appear “weak” to his friends. Sheldon is so complex emotionally.

I feel like we are closing in in the infamous affair sheldon’s about to walk in on.

Of course Sheldon is going to remember it differently than the others in the family. Even if he was a normal person, his perspective would be different that the others. However, he doesn't understand social cues so his understanding of what happened would be skewed by this and what information he actually had. Plenty of cases where the husband or wife takes full responsivity for what happened when in reality they both played a part in the breakup. Plus the fact that the dad died early on after the breakup of the marriage and Sheldon only got his mom side of it. My guess is Shedlon never new about Pastor Rob.

When you make a show thats a prequel to a hit show and change it to prevent predictability, your going to only hurt your show.

This Show Went From Being a Sitcom To a Drama Series

So Sheldon just walks into his parents bedroom without knocking.... We know that Sheldon's relationship to the truth regarding anything his father did is rather distant. So what if there is a twist and the person he really walked in on was Saint Mary with Pastor Rob? Unable to accept that his mother did anything wrong, Sheldon transfers the memory to it being George who cheated when in reality it was Mary. Don't forget, in an episode of TBBT, Sheldon observed through the window her having sex with another man.

I think they have to show it but I believe they will downplay it quite a bit and focus more on the fact that it's what starts Sheldon's infamous three knock rule.

I don't really wanna see George die.

God I hope they don’t steer away from this, I want them to commit. It’s not that I want to see a little boy’s family to fall apart, it’s just I want them to actually pull through with the story, not hold back at the last second and say something else around the bush

I have difficulty believing that the „another woman“ Sheldon refers to in TBBT is Brenda. Surely, had it been Brenda, he would have said something like „our neighbor“

George is an honorable man. Mary and her illicit behavior and poor treatment of George is driving him away. She does not respect him and never even asks about his feelings.

I really hope that Sheldon is an unreliable narrator when it comes to his parents cheating. I wish George and Mary can just say sorry to each other and make up. I'm rooting more for George than Mary though to be honest. I feel like George has remorse about all of this and has been trying to stay away from Brenda. But Mary literally has no remorse or guilt to meet up with Pastor Rob and even agrees to go out with him in front of Brenda. Mary acts holy but she is really a hypocrite for doing that.

Big Bang Theory is canon. Period. If they didn't want to tell the story Sheldon told, then they shouldn't called the show "Young Sheldon." Sheldon had an eidetic memory, so the YS show runners' decision to make it that like he wasn't recalling correctly is absurd. George having sex with another woman in his and Mary's marriage bed is the origin of Sheldon's knock three times compulsive habit... It's a major plot point. It's been infuriating watching writers trying to rehabilitate George's BBT image of a terrible father and husband by throwing other characters under the bus.

So maybe S7 will be the finale season. Or stretch max to S8. Until Sheldon leaves for Pasadena, Georgie and Mandy amicably go their separate ways and he gets into tyre business....Missy...well,idk.

Keep George Sr on the show. Toss out the Creepy Pastor Rob and Mary, too, if necessary.

Mary is also at fault... She has been cheating the whole time in her head with the younger pastor... She has never been happy... and her focus is all wrong. Glad this is only a show and not real life... but real life is an echo... Love the one you are with... make it work. Pray over your husband and or your wife...

George is written to be a good husband... generally. Mary is not a great wife at all. She is broken and needs repair.

I'm hoping there's a swerve and it was actually Mary in a blonde wig that Sheldon saw his dad with (he never ID'd who it was) Sheldon never revealed it to Mary so she never got to react to it. TBBT has already established that Sheldon's version of events don't always match what happened in reality ie thinking that Mary was still a tower of strength after George passed away, when as revealed by Georgie, she was pretty much having a breakdown.

Should do a show just about the family i really in joy the interplay with the family members had some right laugh watching them

Obviously, both Mary and George are hypocrits. But imo, George is more in the wrong. Mary and Rob are crushing on each other, yes. But have they ever secretly skulked off together? Nope, they were always in public or where, at least, others could see them. That isn't true of George and Brenda (chicken coop rendezvous lol) Yeah, Billy spotted them...but they *tried to be sneaky. Also, Mary and Rob aren't professing their feelings to each other. Overall, their thing feels less illicit compared to George and Brenda. Lol, I really do love this show. Not looking forward to the death of the patriarch. But I'm curious as to how it will be handled.

Season 7 being the last would make sense, but the ratings are too good.

Here's my take. No one should cheat on their spouse, so they are both in the wrong. I would say that George is more in the wrong, as it seems as if he has be physical with the other woman. Where as Mary seems to only be fantasizing about another, but not fully acting on it. However, their relationship has obviously been falling apart. Mainly because they would get into more frequent arguments rather than discussios. You shouldn't have eyes for another while married, so when they both relized that they were overly confined within another, and if they truely cared or really loved eachother they would have tried to talk things out, to safe their marriage and should've been able to open up to one another, instead they're both becoming more distant where, most likely, the marriage is beyond the point of repair.

This show has done something few spin-offs do and actually transcended the original material. I think YS is far, far better television than BBT.

Most times Chuck Lorrie tries to mature different projects for viewers given Young Sheldon and BBT are different tones so they will address things differently.

I admit I haven't watched the show, but I've now seen a lot of parts of it on RU-vid, and the more I see, the more it seems like Mary and her behaviour is at the root of the problems in George and Mary's marraige. She seems to be constantly undermining George, and her "Christian" faith seems to be primarily of the "judgemental" variety. I don't think Iv'e seen her interact with any of her children without some undercurrent of criticism or put down or nagging or henpecking. By comparison, depsite not being particularly academic, we have seen Geoge genuinely trying to engage with Sheldon's interest, pretending not to know things so Sheldon will "explain" them to him (If Mary has done anything like this with any of the children, please let me know). He also makes sure George Jnr plays football, because he realises that a sport scholarship is probably the best route his other son has to getting a College education When Georgie Junior decided he was going to drop out of school, George senior used the threat of being kicked out to try and keep him from doing so, until Mary told him he could continue to live at home anyway. Now, you could argue that he was being unfair and acting unilaterally, but so was she, and she seems to act in that way frequently herself. Did Mary have any plan to try and get Gerogie to continue his education? No, it doesn't seem so, but she immediately torpedoes the only plan that ANYONE has. As well as that, her mother treats George like garbage, despite that fact that he is essentially trying to support his whole family on a high school football coach's salary (after he was kicked out of a more lucrative job for doing the right thing). She belittles him, calls him stupid and doesn't show him an ounce of respect, I don't know if George's parents ever appear in the show, but I'm betting they don't treat Mary like that. But Mary never seems to communicate to her mother that she is crossing the line, implicitly enabling toxic behaviour and degradation. Great example to set for your kids Mary.

They should just divorce already. It's pointless to keep things going like this. Someone in the Cooper household is creating a bad atmosphere.

To be fair, it doesn't say that the split, just that's why Sheldon knocks. We can only hope that they stay together

They better tell the story… idc.. that was a big plot that older Sheldon told.. to not play it would be a waste of my time.. I’ve been watching for this moment.. it’s like someone telling me I’m having a surprise party I wasn’t supposed to know about, but I get excited and prepared for it. Only to walk through the door and no one is there.. who does that? Evil..

The fact that the showrunners are using terms like 'Headcanon" is striking to me. Clearly, they have no idea of how to tell a story. if they did not want to adhere to the canon of the Big Bang Theory, then do not and just be done with it. The is why prequels in Hollywood suck! because they cannot keep their canon straight, i.e. Star Trek: Discovery.

Yeah, but the producers have admitted to shi!!ing on the big bang theory….by your own admission. This is why I stopped watching YS after season 4. YS producers have a moral obligation to follow the gold nuggets set down by TBBT…it is why it is a prequel & to do anything else to to spit on TBBT & it’s mythology. Why call it “Young Sheldon” if the so called producers are going to crap over the TBBT…call the show “Some Other Sheldon….who cares”

God i really hope they show george's affair scene in the bedroom. That would totally make the show real.

I hate to say this but Mary is so insufferable! She is a bad wife. She always puts Sheldon above everything. Sometimes, your partner goes before your kids.

I'm fine with the idea that TBBT Sheldon is an unreliable narrator, and may have even demonized his father to an extant in order to make his own Dad's death more palatable. In Sheldon we should see him becime the awful person he is at the beginning of TBBT. Which is the antithesis of character growth we isually see in a main character of a show.

Well let’s see what they mean by fallout. Mary is staying at Meemaw’s. How are all these people staying there? Bet Mandy might move back with her folks. Her mom fixed up a nice nursery for a gift. How would that be for Georgie who isn’t a fav if Mandy’s mom. Do you think Mary will spill to Connie about George/Brenda? We know Connie has confronted both of them about extramarital affairs so that could be interesting. Do you think Mary will get fired? Brenda is her boss so Mary might want to apply for another job. Then again, Medford is a small town and those upstanding folks might not want a woman who is having an affair with a Baptist minister to work in their stores. Maybe unemployment is a better option. How about George? He might get canned to as a football coach. After all Rob saved the day at the football game. How dare George accuse him of wrongdoing! Then there is the issue of Pastor Rob having an affair with Mary. If Jeff canned Mary, what will he do to Rob? How about Missy? This is the only character I really feel sorry for. I don’t blame her for feeling left out! So that will do for now. What a nice picture I paint. Mary and George unemployed and no income. Maybe Rob out of a job too. Missy is going that’s her folks even more now. Sheldon has his brilliant head so far up his butt that he oblivious to his family’s woes. Since he is Mary’s little baby, I think he will turn on his dad. I can see Mary poisoning his mind against George. I think Sheldon will fabricate all kinds of lies to discredit his dad including seeing him having extramarital sex. All sorts of stuff to think about as these folks continue to stumble along.

I hate when prequels try to change the established lore because they think it's messy and don't want to tell it that way. We know about the affair and we know how George died, if they don't want to tell those stories they need to end the show before they get there.
