I often wish I would have gotten to have that last moment to say goodbye . My father passed away alone at home sitting in his recliner taking a nap while watching tv at 81 years old. I am thankful he went peacefully , but hate that we didn't get to say goodbye to him . I'm 39. My son is 4. My daughter turns 6 in September. I have not taken care of myself very well. This show gave me a shock to eat healthier, don't smoke anymore(I quit cigarettes but I would still bum one occasionally. No more.), and exercise. I don't want my babies to lose me when I'm 50. Edit: btw they are all such talented actors, this really made me cry. Also it took me a long time to realize "wait meemaw is annie potts, that's Janine from ghostbusters!" The fact that I found myself so invested in these characters is a testament to how good the writing, the performances, and the overall world building of the show is. It's so well done. I'm so glad we're getting the spin off about Georgie and Mandy, I wasn't ready to leave these characters behind forever. I'm so happy we're getting more.

This is so sad and so relatable. My dad died while he was at work as a truck driver..he had a massive heart attack and a stranger found him an hour later fallen out of his truck dead. There was nothing paramedics or doctors could do to bring him back it had been too long. I was only 14 at the time and remember how devastating the news was. I never got to say goodbye. It'll be 13 years on May 31st and it still hurts me. The grief never fully goes away. They really touched a lot of people with this episode. ❤

I agree. The last time I spoke to my son I told him be home before dark or you're grounded from games for a week. He was rushing to get home before it was fully dark and crossed the street. His friend who was with him ran into the house without knocking and just said Jake just got hit he had tears in his eyes and said I tried to grab him, but I missed. I was with him less than a minute and a half after the impact. I held him and told him that he was not grounded and to hold on. We love you baby, don't leave us yet. He was a donor and saved many lives. I felt so guilty because I was busy cooking dinner and didn't drive him to his friend's house. I miss him every day and it's been almost 14 years. He was ,13 when we lost him.

Seeing Meemaw, Missy, and Sheldon's reactions probably hit me the most. Granted, Meemaw and George had their sticks and stones with each other, but deep down, Meemaw did like George and see him as family, she just didn't show it a lot. Missy and George went through a lot together, even staying close to each other during the tornado in the finale of season 6. Sheldon and George have been together as well, George took him to Caltech when he was younger, and when Sheldon cried in one episode, he asked for his dad instead of his mom. I know Georgie will be sad as well, because he truly did care about his father, and God truly knows how heartbroken Mary is. What I love Young Sheldon is how it gives us a different perspective of the kind of father George Cooper. This is narrated by an Adult Sheldon that now has a family and kids. Sheldon finally realize that his parents especially his father was not perfect nor was he and his siblings were the best children, he finally understood the efforts he did as a father. I relate to that, when Papa died a few months ago it made us also realize he wasn’t perfect but he made a lot of sacrifices just to make us feel we are not alone while our mom was working abroad. He was present in a lot of important events of my life and I realize I took it for granted. Maybe that’s also the thing about losing someone and being an adult you finally understand your parents and how they love you.

Extremely well written and directed. Give George a lifetime success, the support and pride of his family, a renewed happy marriage, pride in his children, congratulations from his mother in law, an explanation of Sheldon's misinterpretation of his dad's fidelity...and just passing off screen in a touching way as Henry Blake did. The final family photo (trip, event, etc) not happening that very day is a slice of life that really happens often. It is seldom that Lorre productions do this good a job with good taste, as most of his shows the past 25 years have been sex comedies...where this one isn't.

Explains Mary's behavior in TBBT. She was still "stuck in angry grief" because everything was finally starting to improve in their lives, so many joyful hopes and dreams. George's death also killed all of them. George WAS NOT following his doctors' advice of what to be doing to avoid another heart attack. So there is some direct anger at George, if he only ... This also explains grown up Georgie telling off Sheldon (finally) about how bad their mother took the death, how bad Missy took the death. And Sheldon, well Sheldon was a "self-contained" teen that was disconnected from the family at that point. He only appeared to be unaffected by the death. Great episode.
