It sucked. in the early days of the Internet before tech became mainstream, other kids actively made fun of you for using it and you couldn’t use it at home without someone screaming at you to hurry up and get offline so they could use the phone. One would never ever use a cellphone unless it was an emergency, they cost far too much (except to play Snake 🐍) many 90s kids can probably remember getting screamed at for texting a LITTLE BITand racking up a fortune in phone bills. Every SINGLE letter cost money, that’s largely why everyone started leaving letters out of words. Organising anything within a group was a time consuming nightmare. No group texts or messages. Doing homework was also much much much harder without a speedy connection to all human knowledge It sucked. Life before modern tech sucked.

A large percentage of scholarships only take care of tuition. He might have to find a way to pay his own room and board.

Perhaps now she couldn't do anything with the schools saying parents have no say in what goes on with their child, but in the 80s they still had rights. They did not have to let him go to college so young. They still had authority over him if they chose to exercise it, which they seldom did. They ALLOWED him to get away with everything, while punishing the other children for much less.

Physical exertion of power is never the answer. What they should have been doing consistently is teaching him rules like they do their other children. It is a perfectly normal thing to do with every single child and for some reason he gets exempt from being taught about what is polite and what is rude. If he is arrogant it's because they haven't taught him that that's not appropriate with adults.

Or just get the money anyways because even me who is in 12th grade at age 17 has the applications paid for, which is the average age to do it at anyways, plus it’s not his fault that he doesn’t have any money. They’re also not even letting him TRY go to school at that point even though he literally would have a full scholarship anyways regardless, plus they would still end up paying for it at some point in the future.

​@Kathy Edens He becomes more sympathetic once you take into account that he's been sheltered his whole life, praised and continuously called a genius, and that he might be on the spectrum and thus he just can't understand certain social cues. I would have also slapped adult Sheldon on a couple of occasions, but then I always thought to myself that his "genius" trait was his whole personality and without it, he felt lost and useless.

Their system is based on deals with universities, and under this system, there is no way to learn electronics without reinventing it. Also, further knowledge is only available by joining corporations. Before capitalism, there was such a thing called scientific knowledge. Since all new knowledge is "hard work" that can't be shared, that's why people are becoming stupider. You all can stick with your empty brain cells, but the people who want knowledge will find it for themselves. No one would ever learn kernel design enough to build new RTOS for their hardware if only Microsoft and Apple was building them. Universities still only teach x86 development, because Intel pays them to teach x86, while agnostic solutions like RISC-V exist.
