SAME!!!! I know your comment was from four years ago my friend but, I do as well but to this very day in 2021 lol. I was able to tell Sameer Ghadia that he has one of my all-time favorite voices along with Stevie Nicks, Lana Del Rey, and Frank Sinatra. His jaw fell to the floor and said "Stop! What?! You're putting me up there with Sinatra and Stevie?!? That's probably one of the greatest things any listener has ever said to me so, thank you." He gave me a hug and I got a photo with the band as I got the meet n greet pass. They're so unbelievably good live...I almost prefer to listen to their lives over studio. ♥️
If you pay attention to the beached boat in the background, you can find that that spot is actually a landmark spot that appears in many pictures. In fact i think one of the themes you can choose for your gmail is a picture of that very boat. I did some research, the boat is called the Point Reyes, it is beached at Tomales Bay near San Francisco. A very beautiful place to go and visit or, if you happen to be Young the Giant, film an ITO.
I am in love with Sameer's voice in this song. They really need to release these open session versions. I would buy the session version album in a heartbeat.
i can't even begin to express how much i miss the time of my life when the self titled and mind over matter album were it... it felt like my life had its own soundtrack. anyways.. i love you guys, young the giant fans and band alike.. may we all find what drives us crazy
it's 2024 and I been coming to yt for this specific in the open session for yearsssss, I need it on spotify like 10 years ago and yk what, go crazy and put it on a vinyl too and I'll snatch t up REAL QUICK
I was thinking exactly the same, it’s +10years I come back to this song, close my eyes and have the same sensations I felt when I first heard these open sessions back in 2011/2012. What happy days. 15 years and no thoughts. It’s time to save them on some vinyls.
2024 watching this at work. Ah life was so much easier 13 years ago as a college kid with no worries. Listening to these in the open sessions takes me back.
Sameer and Francois have a unique connection when they sing sometimes. It's interesting the way they trade looks at each other...like they have some secret (which they prob do, see 3:26) a kind of "eye language" about what's going on with the song right then. There are other vids where I noticed that too.
I agree, there is definitely chemistry there, and it's very much visible at that point in the video I think. I theorize maybe Francois felt some type of way while looking at Sameer in that moment. He looked down right after, almost as if discouraged, and then it seems to me that he felt reassured when Sameer returned the glance with a smile
Laying in my girlfriends bed in her dorm listening to the calming rain fall outside. I am at peace finally happy with where im at in life. No better feeling
have you ever had a song that kind of takes you back to a certain point in your life? i've never teared up to a video before 'till now, but this song means so much to me. christ.
I don't think it's overproduced at all. Is all the layering what you don't like or the addition of synths or something? The production is so clean for being their first album and the aesthetic with the summery layered guitars and upbeat drums I think sounds perfect.
And if we're talking overproduced my god Mirror Master is easily the most uninspired and stale of their albums by a long shot. At least MOM had a lot of really beautiful moments, and Home Of The Strange is obviously produced perfectly for what they were going for with the album, Mirror Master just sounds like overproduced B-sides from HOTS but with indie trends from 2012.
@@nolestrono personally, i loved mirror master just as much as the other albums. the thing with young the giant is that they're constantly shifting and changing their music, that's what makes it a true breath of fresh air. songs like simplify i imagine where written from sameer to people he loves, like his wife. the aspect of bringing in math and physics in superposition made me fall for the song, it seemed like a sweet heartfelt love song compared to normal songs like 'a thousand years by Christina perri'. it's weird, ytg is the one band where i love all of their songs.
Nimala Sivakumar yeah despite my other comment I do still enjoy listening to a lot of the songs from Mirror Master. I was obsessed with Simplify when that came out. Most of it just sounds uninspired, but its YTG so even the uninspired stuff still sounds nice.
I used to be really stressed about school and stuff but now I started listen to YTG all at the time and I'm just overall more relaxed and carefree. They're my favorite band by far. Waiting with bated breath for an Open Session album.
Been listening to these guys for over 7 years now... their music certainly stands the test of time. Always get something new from each listen, so talented.
I remember when I first came across this video it had been uploaded for about a month. I listened to it on repeat for hours. It makes me so happy. This video has a special place in my heart.
I want them to be successful and go mainstream, but I also love the intimacy. I had the pleasure to go to a small, almost elegant venue and see these guys. It was literally the best concert experience I have ever had. Everyone was so chill and friendly, and was literally in the arms length of their feet. I don't know if i have had a better atmosphere at any other concert.
