YoungFolk Knits Podcast: Bougie Sweatshirt KAL Cast-On Party | what is a knit-a-long? 

Even though it's summer here in Australia, where I live the weather is super variable (thanks Melbourne, wouldn't have it any other way) and I started a Cumulus Blouse back in October but haven't made much progress due to the birth of my first child. Would love to join this KAL to help me carve out some knitting time!

Hey. I saw Stitches and Starlight mention the bougie sweater MAL in her 2023 project plans video. I'm not sure what makes a sweater bougie but I have a jumper idea I've got the yarn for. I'm a beginner knitter so this will be my first jumper. I'd love to cast on with you even if I'm starting a little late.

I’ve been excited for this KAL. I started a Lento just before Christmas, thinking I’d be less than halfway done by December 28. Nope! It has been such a pleasure and is going so quickly that I’m going to have to pick something else for the KAL! Never fear, there are many options. Thanks for the generous time frame!

So many of my sweaters are statement pieces or cropped/fitted. As the temps have dropped I’m aware of a bougie sweatshirt shaped hole in my wardrobe. I have several projects planned and can’t wait to join!

I've been winding up balls of yarn as I watched. Not quite ready to cast on, but almost there. 💜💜💜

I cast on my first ever pullover sweater for the KAL! Need to get some photos for IG and Ravelry soon. I decided to do the Flax sweater since it's a free pattern and there are so many tutorial videos out there. As a newbie to sweater knitting, those tutorials are a godsend! I finished the collar and am working on the raglan increases and it's looking good so far. I am using Lionbrand Fishermen's wool in the color way Brown Heather, since it's inexpensive and there's a good chance this first sweater will have some "interesting" properties 😂. However if I finish it and it looks good, I may have the confidence to start another one with an exciting yarn. I do have to say, the fishermen's wool is nice to work with and I like the look of it.

Count me in! I'm currently working on a test knit, so that should leave me plenty of time to knit up a bougie sweater..... or two. Now off to find a pattern!

Absolutely love your podcasts. They are such a joy to watch. I still can't decide what to cast on but I've narrowed it down to 4 patterns at least haha x
