He be a solid 22-25/10 C/PF in today's game... and he be making 8+ defensive teams. He along with Hakeem were the leading post moves schools for greats of the 2000s
MCHALE Was referred to as the "black Hole" because once you dumped it down to him it was "A Wrap" ( meant in a positive way ) cause once he got the ball down low it wasn't coming back out ,because he would up and under , pump fake , wiggle worm players to death and finished like no other and get and ones all day,,,,keep in mind he was making all these moves before that euro step crap, keep up the good work ,,peace out - Green Ghost 👻
The King of low post footwork. He, along with Olajuwon. He's in the Hall Of Fame for good reason. If he played in todays soft league, he'd be unstoppable. React to Making The Case/ 1985-86 Celtics as the greatest team of all time.
Why is he underrated? Like Bird, he was a white man in a black man's game. Pure and simple...it's a racist thing about white men in basketball. We are seeing the same thing today with Catlyn Clark in the WNBA. Everybody needs to stop the racisim and appreciate people for who they are.
I distinctly remember there was at least one season when McHale started taking three-pointers. I think he hit them at a decent percentage but I guess he made the decision to punish opponents in the post and get old fashioned three point plays instead. In his first few years he also used to take fade away jumpers a lot but I think he took fewer fade aways later in his career, preferring to attack the basket and get fouled instead.
Maybe not the same numbers, but he'd find a way to be useful... my game was way pedestrian, compared.... but was modeled on his... I'm only 6'4, though
His arms were so long. When he rebounded he never brought his arms down to gather and leap,he instantly put it back up. Less chance of getting it stolen or tied up.
