Cape town is located in the western province of South Africa hence the reason u see ppl throwing up the W and him saying Southside refers to him being from the southern suburbs of cape Town more specifically an area called wynberg... in America suburbs generally refer to upper class whereas in cape Town it doesn't.. we have the northern suburbs and the southern suburbs which comprises of different areas... wealthy neighborhoods, middle class as well as poverty stricken areas can fall under either of these suburbs.. try reacting to some docs on the different cultures of South Africa and Cape Town to give U some insight on where the music is coming from
The Cape Flats is a collection of housing areas in Cape Town. This was where the "Coloured" people were forcibly moved to during Apartheid. Look up District 6, Group areas act. Known as the Flats as it is a huge flat land mass. Mostly unfarmable and prone to flooding. You can see the District 6 museum in Youngsters vid for kleuring.
