You forgot to speak on the Shipping transaction fee, of 6.5%.. So in all 17% is all etsy fees. Its not as much as poshmark, but its definitely not low or great
Yes I did speak on that when explaining the breakdown of what is included in that transaction fee, that 6.5 is inclusive of any shipping charges collected from the customer and I showed it again a second time later in the ledger from my account but that does not mean your fee total jumps to 17% it still is around 9.5 with payment fees. You may be getting tripped up by adding 6.5% a second time but that’s not the correct way to calculate it. Just because the 6.5% gets charged in two different line items on the ledger that doesn’t mean that it’s 6.5+6.5 the total amount taken from the money collected still ends up being 6.5%
My ledger looks different than yours when I go to my monthly report. I misspoke regarding the 17% however there is a separate shipping fee of 6.5% on shipping costs only. That is completely separate from the transaction fee. Listing fee .20. Processing fee 3%. Transaction fee 6.5% of item total. 6.5% of shipping total.
Yes it is the same transaction fee that I am talking about and show in the video but its being charged separately thats all, its not a different type of fee if that makes sense. It is still the 6.5 etsy is charging for you to be on the platform and the reason the charge it on shipping is cause technically you could set up your shipping to be profitable which makes sense on their part. If you charge for shipping you are going to see the amount the customer paid and that 6.5% taken from that. But for instance pretend the purchase price was $100 and the price paid for shipping was $6 that means the total fee collected was $6.89 regardless if you do (106*0.065) or (100^0.065)+(6*0.065) the amount taken is still $6.89 hopefully that clears it up for you. Its not another hidden fee or anything its just being charged separately @harri004
I sold four items and I got charged $4 for listing fees when they sold… I had already paid fees when I posted and my items are 1 only item.. once they sell they’re gone forever! They didn’t have to charge me anything! When I try to talk about this with Etsy they just copy and paste everything you are saying but that doesn’t explain to me WHY my items get another $1 listing fee each when they don’t even renew??
@@EcomHannah listing fees… separated from the 6.5% fee transaction and the shipping and everything else … No matter how I make the calculations and how much I read the fees FAQ it just doesn’t add up
Question, are you guys paying VAT on Etsy seller fees and on Etsy ads in the US? I raised my ad budget a lot this past month and it’s crazy what I’m being charged in taxes, almost 1/3 of my MKT budget on taxes, but I’m outside of the US.
Hi Hannah Very informative video, thank you very much. I am an international Etsy seller, and there are a lot of taxes you are not mentioning. I am paying a tax on all the fees you are mentioning as well, including ad fees. How come you don't mention these? Also, is it just me, or is the link you mention for internationals sellers in the video missing from the description?
I think you meant to say “your paying fees on a VAT tax that you have to build into your sale price since Etsy does not collect and re-admit on your behalf” which is something I did mention in the video even though VAT is not even technically a Etsy “fee” it’s something particular to your country since every country has its own set of VAT tax and it would be nearly impossible to break down each country for you when it is also a volatile changing number.
I also talked about offside and ad fees as well and how they are charged so perhaps your did not watch the whole video? Your not paying tax or additional fees on ad spend per se either I think you pay be confused. I would suggest re watching it again
@@EcomHannah thank you so much for your reply. I did actually watch your whole video, and I completely understand that you can't know about every country. I can assure you that I pay VAT on everything. Here are the texts that go along with it, that are related to orders: "VAT: offsite ads fee", "VAT: transaction", "VAT: processing fee order". Then there are the general one like "VAT: Etsy Ads". All this is in addition to everything you mentioned. I can provide screenshot if you still believe I'm just confused. This might be related to our country (Denmark), and or the fact we are not registered as a business. I will have to take a thorough look at the Etsy documentation. But first I wanted to check out to see if you had a video explaining it, as you always have such good informative videos. This one was as well, I just think it's due to different local rules. Other than that, I hope you are having an amazing holiday season.
Sorry, but you got it wrong. It's 6.5 % shipping transaction fee, 6.6% transaction fee (those two are separated, so it's 13%), processing fee 3.0 % plus $0.25, and $0.20 listing fee
You are correct a 6.5% transaction fee is processed on the total sale price before taxes and the shipping collected but I’m not sure where you’re getting 13% from you would be suggesting that it’s 13% of the sale price, which is incorrect
Is it some way that you can do that the tags and everything is comming automatic to every listing you do, so I don't have to write in the same tags on every singel listing?
hi I just started today opening an etsy seller shop and im at the one time set up fee so i already paid for it but in the etsy it did not work but in my card its already deducted, I hope someone can help me, thank you in advance
oh wow that it is super strange, did you open a case with seller support :/ I wish I could be of more help, most likely it will get solved you just need to talk to them
@@thatphillyguy61 Was it purchased off an offsite ad? 9.5 + 12 is about that number so it does make sense, but if you are not running ads I would contact them. Ads are a really powerful tool.
