Shame holds too many people back from getting the help they need. No one is shamed for cancer, diabetes, or heart disease, even though they have significant lifestyle contributions. Likewise, no one should be shamed for depression, panic disorders, bipolar disorder, addictions, schizophrenia, or any other condition. But people with these issues are often blamed for their condition, called names, or told to “just get over it.” Social stigma-the biased attitudes coming from family, friends, coworkers, and others-is only part of the problem. By labeling these issues as “mental health” or “psychiatric,” people suffer in silence because of the shame they feel internally. They’re more likely to isolate themselves from their support network, which can exacerbate symptoms. In addition, they mistakenly think that having a condition like depression or anxiety is a character flaw or personal weakness. It isn’t. THANKS FOR HAVING ME ED!
Dr. Daniel Amen 🙏🏼 thanks for this wonderful information. How do I deal with an adult child struggling with all the things you mentioned including being addicted to marijuana as his “medicine “ for being depressed, anxious, and not being stable with any job? He has a dui, and doesn’t do anything about it just goes in and out of ‘gigs’ and our home. He says he’ll be on the edge if we kick him out but he takes the energy of our home. I feel like I’m in a catch 22. Any suggestions?
My mom has been bi-polar and schizophrenic for 14 years. Today's interview was awesome -- it really shed some light on these areas. Will definitely be buying his book. Thank you Ed.
'You don't need to believe everything you think, and write down what you are thinking', best advice for people dealing with cognitive dissonance ! Great interview!!!
People don’t understand your brain is so important of your body.! You need to know how to take care of your brain, without your brain you are nobody.! Sleep well eat well and don’t have stress.! Thank you Ed. You are always inspiration.!
For someone who has been diagnosed with a personality disorder but utilises personal development I believe this video was the gap I've been searching for. Tip to you guys with personality disorders; take your meds you need them trust me.
I really needed to hear this interview 😢 My mental health was great for a year and a half but 2 months ago the suicidal ideation came back. I've been walking and priming which helps tremendously but I need help. I'm going to meet with my family Dr. This week. Thank you so much, Dr. Amen and Ed.
I've had suicidal thoughts and never attempted until I started taking Ativan that was prescribed during an ER visit by a doctor I saw once. The psych ward visit after the attempt was horrid and pushed me to look into ways, outside of meds to make sure I'd never end up in a psych ward again. I'd love to know more specifically what my brain looks like and what I can do to increase my brain health. Definitely going to read all of this man's books.
Ed this interview was awesome. My attitude has not been great for quite a few years now and I put it down to poor dietry habits, heal and love your brain and your mind will follow, got to me. I work as a concreter and am 40 now, I eat mainly carnivore but I have 2 to 3 coffees a day and eat sugar at convenience, the people you bring on to this show are fantastic, I share your content with those I love because I love your energy and personality. Thank You brother you are a God send
Wow! Amazing! Mental health is medical not moral! ANTS! Dr. Amen your message changes people and saves people’s lives. After a decade of crazy trials, traumas and tragedies the only thing that saved me was challenging my thoughts and mind. My son passed away and I literally could feel where my brain was broken. Right lobe about 3/4ths the way back. I always wanted to get a brain scan to see what I was physically feeling. After a massive amount of healing and re-wiring my brain and memory and mindset have returned back to fully functioning. I am so excited for your book. Thank you for your work. 🙏🏻
Thank you for introducing new people into our lives. I had never heard of Dr. Amen before, but now am very intrigue to learn more about his ideas and studies about brain health. It is amazing how one thought or lack of nutrients can a effect a person life. I greatly appreciate all the effort you and your team put in to bring this life changing content into our lives. God bless you all!
Thank you so much for the interview. My mom was in a horrible accident, and it has affected her brain. I am always trying to promote her doing natural things first. It seems like when a traumatic event happens in her life, she gets off her medication. It's horrible. She is thankfully back on them. I am always trying to influence healthy eating and physical activity because I know it is very powerful for her brain and body. Thank you.
Love that you are both helping to open up the conversation surrounding mental health and breaking the stigma surrounding mental illness. All the best to Dr. Amen with the launch of his new book "The end of mental illness" can't wait to read it! Also love that we are so perfectly aligned that all of us are involved in helping people to improve their brain and mental health!
@@EdMylettShow just finished watching. I happen to be an expert in the area of sleep, would love to correct/add some brain studies I've read that prove that sleep is more complicated than Doc Amen suggests at the end of this video! Sleep is incredibly important, don't get me wrong, but the brain can be TRAINED to need less sleep over time.
Every day I see kids after school, the 1st thing I ask, is "what was your favorite part of the day?". Been doing this since they were in preK, now in 7 and 9th grade, my 7th grader can't wait to tell me, my 9th grade girl (full teenage drama), works on her download of info, then tells me her favorite part of her day. The nights with kids are always fun. I am currently dating a girl with a 11 year old, picked her up a couple times, she is already telling me her favorite part of the day. She is super excited to see me. I love these questions and what they lead to.
Great interview! Appreciate how you express your gratitude for Dr. Amen. It's not often you hear a man say "I love you" in a genuine manner to a dear friend. Also I am grateful that there is no cursing in this interview! :)
Powerful partnership! Two of my favorite Godly men in two spaces with hearts that are the same for people and wanting to change lives!! Love this so much! I’ve worked with his clinics for years - referring and as a patient, his supplements and going thru his certification to add brain health coach to my credentials.
After listening to Dr. Amen here and on Impact Theory I am definitely going to get the book, really appreciate that this is being shared, I just hope it reaches those who need to hear it the most!!
Sometimes when your brain health is not on point you should go on a road trip for 6 hours on your own listening to Ed Mylett and his guests. Now Im thinking acurately. 💯✅
Yet another amazing guest . Love to see you getting into Mental Wellbeing space. . I have been in Mental wellbeing space and i agree with his that our reality is shaped with the shaming and guilt terminology. Ed thanks for bringing him and changing our understanding of Mental Health in a nonjudgemental way
@@EdMylettShow Ed just know that i am sharing all your teaching in my Yoga and meditation classes with my community in Ft Lauderdale. Thank you ! and much love ❤❤❤❤❤
I just want to say thank you to both of you: Ed - for bringing all those amazing people & dr Amen - for seeing us "twisted/ broken" people as real humans and not forcing the agenda that we are sick. I've been suffering from depression, panic/ anxiety attacks for 20 years and I've always thought that there is something wrong with me until I actually started reading about the brain and realized I'm not a "psycho" :) I'm going to order the books.
AMAZING, AMAZING Interview and Content!! LOVED this episode and is now my absolute favorite. This is very near and dear to my heart, especially knowing a very close young man who just recently took his life. This has opened up so many wonderful and now productive conversations. Thank you so much Ed for this episode.
Many years ago I was a heavy drinker. I used to boast about how many tequilas I could down, for goodness' sake! I also suffered terribly from depression. I drink extremely seldom now. The liquor limit for drivers in Ontario is really low, which has also helped. I bring a bottle of kombucha to parties now. I've discovered that I can enjoy myself there just as much, if not more, than with a couple glasses of wine. And I can remember everything so much better the next day! Thank you for a very helpful interview, Mr. Mylett. Also for admitting that you also have ANTS! I find that encouraging!
Mind blown! I love that it is all solid research-based. There is SO much to it and I have to say, we have to get dr Amen's book. Already told my boyfriend to get assessed for sleep apnea. Thank you gentlemen SO much!
So so good! This info about brain health is vital for all of us to know! Thank you Ed & Dr. Amen for sharing this info. I shared it with many people I care about! 🙏🏻
I am so thrilled to see this collaboration!!! We love Dr. Amen! We drove to NYC to hear him speak. Phenomenal information that NEEDS to be heard. Thank you Ed!!
I’m a successful Therapist- Dr. Amens content it fully SPOT on!! Looking forward to reading his book AND recommending it to my clients as a valuable resource. Thank you Ed‼️🙌
#MaxOut Fan Right Here! I found your channel while working out of town👷, sleeping in my car in San Francisco for a PG&E Transmission Project! 😄 Ed your impact on my focus for pushing through everything in life has been like no other. I remembered Your episode 🎥 "How Bad do you want Success" stopped my scrolling RU-vid & Hooked me since than. Love you & your mission man 👑 Thank you for having Dr Amen on, I've been following his work for years. Amazing information, & Great Interview!!! 🔥
Thank you. So helpful, I see why I am in need of this. I met Oral Roberts & Evelyn when I attended a Prayer Seminar at ORU Powerful prayers that I know protected me all the way home & still keep refreshing & reminding me of our source & need to be grateful.
Thank you Ed, for one may have experience in this area with family and friends. So true people will steal your happiness if you don’t have an awareness.
Itzy Zaza just wondering if you could help me out with this one. My eldest son who is 24 now has been struggling since his early teens with all the things Described in this interview: depression, suicidal thoughts, not stable with any one job , has had dui and been addicted to marijuana and smoking as well. He goes in and out of our home very unstable even though we’ve set the ground rules for him. He doesn’t abide by them. He says the thought of being homeless gives him suicidal thoughts but we really want him out. His lifestyle drags our energy of the home. Please help.
LOVED the interview, but I also thought the 4 questions should have been credited to Byron Katie (I'm assuming they were originally hers). It's all amazing however! Ed, could you get Byron on the show!?!?!?!??!
Incredibly insightful interview. Wow! I just went to Dr. Amen’s website and completed the brief questionnaire to determine my brain type. It was spot on and the site offered supplements for me to increase my brain effectiveness. Highly recommend taking a few minutes to do this.
Just great stuff. God I like this Dr. Hes not scared of challenging or questioning the status quo. Not afraid of being hated by his own MD community & standing up for what he believes is the right thing! Great stuff ED! U R THE MAN BROTHER. love ur content & more importantly love u & am greatful for having u, even if just in video form! Please keep up the great work 💗🙏🏾
Excellent interview!!! So much of what Dr. Amen says has been confirmed by my own doctor. It was refreshing to hear another perspective on this and to hear that I'm on the right track with my health and wellness. So many great tips! I can hardly wait to dive into his book!
Another great guest , everyday i take lessons from your videos and apply them to my day. Watching myself grow more everyday has been a multiplier for not only my work ethic but i have more clarity with my goals and im seeing the direction i need to go. Thanks a million! #MAXOUT
Omg, I loved this from the beginning. Those 4 circles! 🔥 I needed to hear this after much studying. Recently certified in nutrition, nasm, and nlp while obtaining a psychology degree because I realized this on my own. Biology, psychology, social, and spiritual. Amazing interview. I call it philosophy, psychology, physiology, and peers.
Listened this this during my workout this morning. I read his book Change Your Brain Change Your Life, it is packed with nuggets and nutrition tips. My 2 big takeaways limit my weed consumption and get better sleep. I am bipolar and this was very helpful! Thank you Dr. Amen and Ed! Ed your podcast continue to deliver for me. Grateful for you both. #maxout Also I just made a Facebook group called End The Stigma and posted this video in it :)
I'm surprised Byron Katie wasnt given credit for those 4 questions and turn around. 1.Is it true? 2.Can you absolutely know that its true? 3.How do you react when you believe that thought? 4.Who would be without that thought? *Then turn it around* "The Work" by Byron Katie
C G Is it possible that these are not new questions. The idea of questioning your thoughts has been around well before Byron Katie. Although I love her process and believe it helps many I also believe that this is not new or original to her!
This is amazing, been listening to your stuff for over a year and starting my day with your material has been the best addition to my daily routine. Very addictive and inspiring!
This was awesome. The world does indeed need to hear this more. So much information that this man has provided that could improve so many lives. I look forward to reading his latest book. Thanks for putting out great butting edge information. One day... I would like to hear "A Day in the Life of Ed Mylett." I suspect you have built habits and patterns that could be valuable for others.
I like that! Get your brain right and your mind will follow! Ive always like this saying too-Get your mindset right and the body will follow! Tysm for sharing and first time listening I cant wait to watch the whole vid! Take care and God bless just subscribed!
EdMylett Aloha from Hawaii sweet to meet you! Wow I cant believe its been hour and a half and loved every minute of it! I love your style of interviewing both of you adding your stories & genuine. I took notes & Im glad he talked about Inflammation as Im a dental hygienist. Thanks to Dr Amen it will bring more awareness to everyone why oral hygiene & regular dental check ups every 3-6 months is very important as he mentioned it first starts bu the gums! Yay 😀 Loved all the infos and definitely will start taking gingko biloba again as Ive used for years before and also Vit D. Maybe later on I will go back in the comment and write my nuggets! Lol 😂 About the Dont Worry Worry Be Happy part I think its still good to adapt that gratitude/ happy feeling but at the same time have common sense & consciously smart to use the brain if theres any concerns whatsoever! Lol 😂 Lets gooo everyone! You have everything you need within you! Just be open to possibilities & go work for what you want & enjoy the process! ❤️ and live the moment NOW for this TIME NOW is what we have! Tomorrow isnt promise! Woohoo Tysm for this keep at it! Muah 😘 Woohooo and tysm Dr Amen ....Amen to you! Love you both!!!!
Hay Ed, my name is Jeremy. An I have recently started watching your show. I think what you doing is amazing. MaxOut life-changing. I don't give up easy. Your helping me get to the next level in my life. To give you a little background about myself. I was pretty much a meth baby. At the age of 9, do to my life. I started using drugs. By the age of 36 which is my age now in 2020. I had done meth, for about 20 years. 2 weeks before Christmas in 2019, I finally broke myself all the way down and realizing who I am. And enough is enough. And this little amount of time I had made a major leap in life. I live in the nicest house I ever lived in. I have a job that I'm in love with as a heavy machine operator. Operate a bulldozer, to be exact. The bulldozer is the D6N. I believe my words are powerful. If I speak negative words into existence. That's what appears. And God is my Foundation. Ironically, I got saved the same time that I started using drugs. I love myself now. Now I can love my family now. And not even meeting you, I love you Ed mylett. You're my big brother. Hope to hear from you. Here's my phone number if you would like it. 8 3 2 965 3-7 7-6. I know this probably isn't the proper way to give my information so we can connect. This internet deal is a little risky for me. Again love with you and God bless you
