I enjoy watching you making beautiful things with bits of paper. You really have an eye for this type of thing. I think this box was especially nice - especially the tickets and vellum pieces. As far as the stamps, I think the 1st piece of acetate is to protect the 2nd piece of acetate so it will not become dirty or oily from your hands so it will adhere to the stamp block. (The piece of acetate closest to the stamp should be permanent and you use it to attach to the stamping block, then you can ink the stamp and press it on the paper with the stamp attached.) Hope that makes sense. Gorgeous images on those stamps! Thanks for another great video! Janet 💕

@@NinaRibenaMixedMedia I have two stamps that won't cooperate. I got tired of it of dealing with it, so I roll wide washi tape onto itself and use it to stick the stamp to the block. I think even a small piece of regular double-sided tape would work. I'm looking forward to other projects using the contents of this box! Janet ❤

As usual Nina, I love watching you create all these mini works of art! You also make me smile when you talk about getting the backing pieces off of the stickers. Years ago I worked on a craft show on HGTV here in the US. One of my most important jobs was to be sure all the backing from tape, stickers, etc was “started” so that all the host of the show had to do was peel the backing off seamlessly. It might seem silly, but it was a big deal, for sure! You took me right back to those days in this video. TFS

Interesting! I didn't know they had that pre-done by someone! It does make sense though! Nina, I've seen others use a craft knife to help remove the backing on stickers.
@cherrylgreene1495
@cherrylgreene1495 2 года назад
I use a craft knife and place the sticker or whatever face down on my work surface. Then I poke into the release paper only (once you do it a few times you know how much pressure to use) about 1/16” from one of the corners. So I’m not at the exact corner. Then lift your craft knife back towards yourself and it should come right up. FYI-I just tried this on a NOTE BAR STICKER from the YOUR CREATIVE STUDIO box that I received last week and it worked perfectly. I subscribed to YCS recently through your channel Nina, thank you for bringing these goodies into my craft room! I LOVE YOUR WORK! Ps: different techniques for different people. That’s what I love about paper crafters. If something doesn’t work for them, these creative folks come up with their own way of making it work. Craft on!

Hello Nina,Just watched your latest “your creative Studio “ video. Love it,as usual it’s full of unique ideas. Your problem with the stamps,( they are truly lovely and versatile), I noticed the same thing, the top layer does not stick, but I do not think, that there is another layer to peel off. I put a temporary adhesive on top, so it sticks to the stamp block. There is a product fron Tsukineko, called TACK’N PEEL. It is a 1 mm thick transparent plastic sheet, that you put with the permanent gluey side to your stamp-block. The other side is covered with a transparent plastic, which you remove to put your stamp, and put back afterwards. It does not stay transparent for ever, ( I am not a super tidy stamper),but I have it on a bigger and a smaller acrylic block for at least 8 to 10 years, and I can still see through. The sheet is 16,5x10 cm. I am by the way still waiting for my first copy of Daphne’s diary, Switzerland seems difficult to find! After several exchanges with distributers in Germany and publishers in the Nederland’s, I keep hoping.( they promised).Hope you are well! We had the same weather, and the same forecast! And my tulips do NOT like snow! Let’s hope for the best! Take care. Barbara

Hello Barbara, thanks so much for the tip regarding tack n peel. I have found it on eBay for a good price. It has been bitterly cold here over the past few days and we’ve had snow, sleet and torrential rain. I think it’s warming up again next week thankfully. I hope your tulips survive and also hope your magazine arrives soon 🤞💕

I really enjoy receiving these kits, and your videos provide so much inspiration. I have had the exact same issues with the stamps. In fact, I haven’t had one of these stamps I haven’t had issues with. I generally use removable tape on the back of my stamp block. It can be a pain to clean, but it works great. The stickers are an issue, but in another video I saw, if you place the piece flat on the table and use tweezers, the backing does seem to come off easier. I like your way best though. Thanks for another great video, Nina.
@NinaRibenaMixedMedia

Thanks Katie, glad you find these videos inspiring. A few people have suggested using sellotape to peel the backing off the stickers, so I will give it a try and report back in my next YCS video. Have a great week 💕
@veronicawhite398
@veronicawhite398 2 года назад
Nina, do watch Gi's video. It works a treat. As to the YCS stamps, there are two backings. A while back I attempted to remove the second backing closest to the stamp only to have it get completely stuck to my acrylic block. Eventually, I managed to free it, so it is supposed to be on the stamp. The problem is it just isn't sticky enough to cling to the block like it's meant to. Just now, after taking another look at my YCS stamps and seeing the glue was still as gooey as when it arrived last November, I decided to remove the foam and glue from the stamp itself. They cling to the block perfectly and come away easily. They also leave a better impression on the paper. It might be worth trying for those that are having the same problem. Veronica x
@NinaRibenaMixedMedia
@NinaRibenaMixedMedia 2 года назад
Hi Veronica. Thanks so much for telling me about your stamps. I might try taking the foam off one of the smaller stamps and see how I get on as it might be easier than using repositionable glue. I will also check out Gi’s video 💕

Nina you received very lovely gifts in your kit. I have a hint how to get the sticker backs off very easily. Take a long strong straight pin or a stainless steel pin like the one used in your glues. Hold your fingers close to the edge putting your pin in between the sticker & cover on back. Whala so easy...

Nina, one more hint. The stamps you received in your kit, the vinyl covers on the stamps are needed to cover the sticky part which sticks to your acrylic blocks. Get them out of the trash to put them back on your stamps.

I have this box and enjoyed checking everything out but that’s as far as I got. Thanks for sharing your creativity piecing the various elements together into wonderful collages that will be beautiful in your journal. I pulled my 3 YCS boxes out to simulate your idea of creating pieces to work with later. I am so happy about this. Too often I want to have the end in mind at the beginning and it messed me up. The second acetate layer is the one with the image on it - lets you know how to position and orientate the image. I notice a lot of people treat these stamps as if they are silicon stamps, expecting them to go on and off acrylic blocks, but the acrylic blocks work with the silicon stamps because the stamps are thin - like the red rubber part of rubber stamps, and the silicon stamps don't have glue on them, it is the silicon itself on the smooth side that suctions onto the smooth surface of the acrylic, the acrylic block being a temporary removable replacement for the permanent wooden block on rubber stamps.These are better treated as wooden block stamps, with the thick grey sponge bit a replacement for wooden blocks, the stamped image on the back just like the stamped image on the wooden block. Of course, that doesn't mean it is an effective replacement - lol. I too still use a thin quilting template to press down on it.
@NinaRibenaMixedMedia
@NinaRibenaMixedMedia 2 года назад
Thanks for this Dana. The grey stamps in previous YCS boxes have had just one layer of acetate which was meant to be removed to reveal a sticky layer that adhered to your stamp block. It has recently changed to 2 layers so I assumed they were both meant to be removed 💕

Nope, You are correct, there are rwo pieces of acetate on the stamps and the second one is literally gllued to the gray cushion, I was able to get it off with my awl but I fear that the stamp willl be permanently glued to my acrylic block. This is my only gripe with the YCS boxes , that the gray cushion is too soft and the "glue" is not removeable as it should be. The red rubber images are excellent, its just the gray cushion that's bad. Otherwise the boxes are full of delightfully beautiful treasures! And I love what you have made with them!
@NinaRibenaMixedMedia
@NinaRibenaMixedMedia 2 года назад
From what others are saying, the second layer of acetate is not meant to come off as with previous grey stamps in the boxes. I used some repositionable glue with the stamps in the last set as I couldn’t fathom those ones out either. The images did stamp well just laying the block on top, but I like the security of a bit of glue so it doesn’t slip 💕

I discovered the easiest way to remove stickers from their backing. Place a piece of cellophane tape on top of the sticker with a little overlap. (It doesn't have to cover the sticker ) Pull on the free portion of the tape and they will separate. If there is a problem, burnish the tape slightly.

Yes, the contents in this one are beautiful. Thanks for the double sided tape tip, I will try that, also thought my repositionanld glue stick would work. No snow yet, but apparently it’s on its way! Keep your fingers crossed it’s only a flutter lol 💕

Gorgeous, Nina. Lovely pieces of ephemera to work with, too. You've probably tried this with the stickers but I find a corner and with my fingernail keep flipping back and to and it often comes off easily. Not all attempts are successful but I would say a good 95%. Worth a go to potentially save your sanity. Thanks for sharing.

I am so excited! I am going to have a play today and use some of your ideas! I love the bunny piece. I thought you were done, but when you added the fern on the left I was thrilled. I am horrified to admit this, but I tore the foam off one of the small stamps trying to get the too layer of plastic off. 😭😭😭😭. I am able to use it, but have to stamp, cut around it, and glue because finger ink is a problem. I am just glad I can make it work because it is so sweet! Looking forward to Sunday! TFS. 💐🙏💌

Thank you Evelyn, the bunny piece is definitely my favourite. What a shame you tore off the foam, although I have to admit I struggled with the plastic for ages and couldn’t find a way to remove it. I will message Amanda and let her know. Glad you can still use it and happy creating ❤️

@@NinaRibenaMixedMedia had my play. Lots of fun. Made tons of ephemera! Just need to take time to make the journal to slip it in! The one I made is too small. I scrapped off all the foam on that stamp. It was a sticky mess, but now that it is flat I am able to use it again! 🥰

I received this box a couple weeks ago and was eagerly waiting for this video. Loved your ideas. I had trouble with the stamps, too. The acetate just fell off of them and then they wouldn't stick to the block. I put some repositionable tape on the backs and they worked fine.
@NinaRibenaMixedMedia

Thanks Leanne. My stamps won’t stick to the block either, so repositionable tape is a great option. I have messaged Amanda

I love seeing these videos. I was wondering about the stamps as well. Some of them are so dark grey I can’t see the design clearly. I thought the acetate would come off but it seems to be welded to the stamp! I’m just getting into stamping and never saw these kind before :)
@NinaRibenaMixedMedia
@NinaRibenaMixedMedia 2 года назад
I have just been reading through some of the comments and most are saying the the first piece of acetate is meant to come off, but the second layer is a permanent fixture. At least that will stop me from trying to prize it off now. These will need some kind of repositionable glue if you want to use them with a stamp block as they don’t stick on their own. I hope this helps 💕
@janetdand2704

After the first layer of plastic is removed from the stamp, it sticks to my acrylic block but not super well. However, it doesn’t fall off as you are stamping, at least, that’s how mine works. It’s not the best arrangement, I agree. I don’t do anything to prime the back

I love your videos. This one's great! Love what you created, and I think this is the best Creative Studio box I've seen. (I think the first, removable clear acetate cover on the stamps is just to protect the label during shipping. The second sheet, with the image of the stamp on it, is supposed to be a permanent label, I believe.)

Yes that label is permanent it helps thr stamp cling to the block, as you see it stuck to thr block when Nina lifted it off...

I had the same question about the acetate on the back of the stamp. I don't think it is meant to come off but given that so many of the other features of the box have those dang acetate peel offs I don't think we can blame ourselves for being mistaken.
@NinaRibenaMixedMedia
@NinaRibenaMixedMedia 2 года назад
Thanks Carole, at least that will stop me trying to prize it off now. I guess we will just have to use repositionable glue if we want to use them with a stamp block. I will ping Amanda a message to check 💕

Hi Mary, I got it from Ali Express a couple of years ago. Unfortunately it’s now out of stock, but you may find a similar one. I think it’s called a wood specimen stamp. I hope that helps 💕
