I'm thrilled to address the feedback and insights you've shared, which help enrich our discussions and improve our understanding of veteran benefits. First up, a big thanks to Kay for clarifying the requirements for DOD Disabled Veteran ID cards-you must be 100% rated to receive one. For those rated from 0 to 90%, you can still access military bases using your BA ID, provided it states 'Service Connected' or 'Purple Heart', but remember to register at the base's welcome center first.
Next, a shoutout to Red for advocating uniformity in state benefits, particularly regarding property tax exemptions for veterans. If a state like Illinois can offer complete property tax exemption to veterans with a 70% disability rating, why can't this be standard across all states? It's a call for fairness and consistency in how we honor our veterans.
Lastly, a personal note to Mr. John Testa, chair of the Veteran Affairs Committee in the Senate-I've tried reaching out, and I invite you to engage with our community here to discuss these critical issues. Thank you all for your engagement and contributions; it's your input that drives meaningful change. Bless you all, and I look forward to continuing our conversation. See you tomorrow!
