My son passed in December, while cleaning out his shed I found a skateboard he had drawn and planned on painting for his daughter. After watching your videos I'm planning on using the pencils and pastels so his drawing can also shine through. Thank you!
You’re SO generous and kind to share the secret of your art with us! You make gorgeous faces and I so appreciate these videos! I would love it if you would put links in your video notes to the products you use…just like the makeup you tubers do! They also get compensated every time someone orders the products through the links that they list in their notes! Again, thank you so much!
Very useful advice. Thank you for sharing your techniques and advice. I bought the same supplies and used the same techniques to create custom plushie animal eyes on buttons. They turned out amazing and have a durable finish. The colors are very rich, especially when given spray varnish.
I know you probably won't see this; but thank you so much. I've been watching your videos for so long and you've truly inspired me to go out and get these products to start with my doll repainting career. You are such an inspiration and such a talented artist. Thank you ❤
hello!!! thank you so much, I remember watching doll videos when I was younger, but I didn't get to try it. now that I rediscovered it, I must try! first I will do some barbie dolls and then I must try, and redo my Taehyung doll! btw your Tae video is amazing, it is such a good representation!
THANK YOU A LOT I was using everything right but the Mr. Super Clear! That was making everything wrong way! So thank you very much! Huggs from Mallorca!
Hello i'm not english (i'm french) and i want to demand why we do used Mr Clean (it's reading in japanese in the bottle) on our dolls? Thanks for reply me^^. I want to made too OOAK! :)
Miss Fan de Chloé Queen Bee 4Ever it’s a sealer I think to get an even matte finish/ canvas to draw on. After every layer you did you should seal it. But you have to be careful because it’s toxic so do it outside
I've bought a couple of dolls to repaint (I buy them all at a thrift/second hand store called DI in the USA) and although I only paid $1 for them, I don't want to spoil them 😀 I've been desperate to know which kind you use and now I can get them 😊😊😊
I use Kooh-i-Noot Polycolor Mundulez for my repaints. Got 72Pencils for just 30€ on amazon. They're very high pigmentet! I love the collors ❤️ And I use the same acrylic paint like the one in the video😂
THE. MOST. PERFECT. TUTORIAL. EVER!! And I'm a very accurate, serious critic 😜 This is how it's done people! Clean- good volume & background, perfect visuals Focused - humor appropriate but short, logical thought processes, no side banter, no egotistic self image (I like her mysteriousness ppl she doesn't even show face! 👏), Conscise - no extra fluff, self promotion quick & to the point, awesome tips & demonstration, Informative - perfect demonstration, good tips, suggestions & explanations, companies should seek artists who prefer the products that actually work to sponsor them rather than these companies & "influencers" trying to get rich quick off trends from us folks..... promoting shitty over priced items that don't deliver. REMBRANDT, PRISMA COLOR, ETC. who she mentioned, SEND THIS WOMAN SOME SUPPLIES! 🤣😘
Your videos are always super helpful! I have another question though. Can you also use regular pastels after crushing them to a powder? Or does it have to be soft pastels? Do you know what would happen if I used regular ones?
So I’ve been begging my mom,she finally said we could make a realistic looking doll.So I’m still doing ALOT of research and I just need a little bit of...help.So thank you for the help. And when I’m done I promise I will post a video on how it looks! Thanks for the help!😄😁😄😁
I've always used acrylics but really wanted to try watercolor pencils. I've found some low range ones I had lying around and they don't paint at all on the sealant! Do you think getting higher range pencils makes such a big different or could the sealant be the issue? Thnks!
I have a technical question. I’m embarking on a new hobby. After I remove the original paint and apply the multiple layers of Mr Super Clear, I will begin the layering process. If I decide to start over after a few layers, do I use the same process to remove the layers of Mr. Super Clear and paint lares I applied like I removed the original manufacturer’s pain. love you site. Thanks so much! Mike
Gotta say, Mr Super Clear is not in any way easy to find locally. I live in Houston, Texas, USA; which is a big city. Tried hobby stores, hardware stores, art supply stores, and all the local big box stores with no luck. Happily, there's Amazon. It's just that the waiting is hard. I have some old Prismacolor water color pencils in nearly pristine condition and the old pastels will do till I know if this hobby is for me. But gosh darn by golly, I wish I didn't have to wait for the Mr Super Clear so I could get started.
Interesting to note, that it says : 'Mr. SUPER CLEAR UV CUT series is special clear coating that reduces the effects of ultraviolet light. Use this coating to preserve your long hours of painting. (This product is made especially for the Mr. Color series and cannot be used over water-based paints and decals.)' Watercolor pencils are water based pigments, although i doubt there is water in them, just water soluble. I have never used anything except acrylics to paint my OOAK dolls. I thinks this would be more fun, except the spaying outside. I would think you could use the clear uv cut as the final top coats, and use the other as the base coats?
I’m just getting started in doll art - not that I need any other hobbies - so I’m working on a budget. Is there somewhere I can go to get the pencil and pastel numbers or names you use? I can save $$$ by buying the individual pencils and soft pastels. Thanks so much in advance!
Can you suggest something besides Mr. Super Clear? I bought something that I hoped was similar to Testor's Dullcote at the hardware store (I live in the US) and since I have never painted dolls I can't tell if it's what it should be. It doesn't seem to create "teeth" but I'm not sure I know how that would feel
Flávia Leal Not really replaceable, for quality and what it does.so order from over sea cos trust me it’s worth it,you’re work at the end will look much better, and pastels, pencils, slide and attach grate to it.With other materials you just gonna torture you’re self, finish with dirty looking doll and think all this is not for you..Trust me.Mr.Superclear is used by doll makers for a reason 😉 They would use other things if that wouldn’t be the best for it 😉
@@giannadelucci2239 it's designed for small miniatures for a game called Warhammer so as you can imagine, it's made to lay thin and uniform even over a small surface so it works great for a monster high size doll.
What brands of dolls would work best? For example, I know there are certain Monster High bodies that are very popular for this art. Are there specific requirements that make doll bodies better vessels? Thank you!
hey! there's a shop in Belgium, in Wallonië that sells Mr. Super Clear, I think they deliver to NL as well (I live in Belgium, in Vlaanderen), here is the website www.passion132.com/fr/ And they also sell on ebay under the same name
I can not obtain MSC in Norway and noone is shipping it here. What can i use instead? I am open to use acrylic paint or anything else if nothing else can be used instead with pencils :) love your videos
yeah, I've heard about this problem from other doll artists from Norway... Unfortunatelly I cannot give any useful tips because I always work just with MSC. I know that Andreja from Nicolle's Dreams channel uses some other product + an airbrush
Several others have asked that same question and it appears that the others tend to yellow over time and/or remain tacky and stick to the hair. I’ve also read that the cheaper ones make your doll look dirty...
Do the water color pencils wash off? Is there anything I need to do to make sure it doesn't rub off if the doll gets wet? Thank you, your dolls are beautiful!
thank you! no, I haven't seen such a tutorial on dolls but you can check usual drawing/paiting tutorials on youtube, real professional artists will give you more theory information than adaptation for dolls
Rj I have the same set. It costs Php 5500 (about $110). If you are in the US, look out for Amazon deals. They went on sale last Nov 2017 (after Thanksgiving).
I have a doll head I want to repaint that I use for cosmetology school is this sealant waterproof? since i have to shampoo the doll i’m worried about finding a good seal
Anyone watching now: i use artist loft water color and Kraft matte spray. The pigment never sticks to the dolls face. Is it the slray or the pensils or both?
Music Planet I don’t know about the sealant but artist loft is usually not pigmented. You’ll have to drop some money on this hobby and I wouldn’t recommend artist loft.
Is there a specific reason why you choose to use watercolor pencils as opposed to colored pencils? I have a small set of watercolor pencils by prismacolor, but I have one of the large box sets of colored pencils by prismacolor and would have greater access to colors that way. I'm wondering if there's a difference or reason for using watercolor as opposed to colored pencils...
That's a bit mean putting a box of Oil Pastels in the thumbnail because we all know that Oil Pastels are definitely not what you use for doll customising. You know as well as I do that Chalk pastel is always in a square crayon format and Oil is always in a round format... I can't quite work out your motivation?
Can i use something else for repainting the dolls face??I didn't find soft pastels and watercolors and i can't buy them online.Any alternatives??(No acrylic colors)
Dude soft pastels are just the same as chalk, where do you live that you don't have chalk? And if you can't even get acrylic paint I don't believe you can get any materials at all.
+The Poisonous Potatoe I personally work only with Mr. Super Clear and can't really recommend any other products. You should check other artists, maybe they have some other options
I keep seeing the question "where can I get M.S.C I can't find it in my country" I'm from Australia 🇦🇺 and I couldn't find it anywhere. Answer eBay! eBay has it for 18 aud (australian dollars) which is a little expensive, but worth it.
