When I was a single mum I used to take my children fishing to our local pond in our local park , we would have a pack lunch and be sat next too the pond that was on a large council housing estate, but the kids and myself loved these days , we learnt so much about nature in our local area, and made new friends who gave us tips or shared new baits with us. And it was a cheap day out too and occasionally we would catch a fish too but what we used were £10 whips from a shop called boyes best £30 I've ever spent.
Congratulations you have won the Shakespeare whip! Send me an email with your details and we will send you one out. Email add: jimmy.willis@anglingtrust.net
There is no age limits to fishing, and the feeling/buzz you fealt as a young kid when you caught your first fish,is exactly the same feeling you get when your an older citizen, and the excitement never goes....
Thatfirst session is the one can get you 'hooked' literally, I was 5 years old sat on my Dad's Efgeeco Canvass tackle box in the mid 70s, twice fell into 18" of water and screamed the lake down, but then caught a 12oz Mirror carp and that was it, the love had started. Also I was first person to get a pole that I knew, back in the days where the advice was the crook with a dangly bit of elastic, Happy Memories and Ray Mumfords home which was like a tackle shop rods all over the place and his tips for pole fishing, poles are a fantastic way to get started nowadays and I've a nephew desparate to go fishing with me, what a great way to introduce him
My son has loved let’s fish and the regional and national celebrations. He’s picked up lots of new skills this summer. It’s even encouraged his younger sister to get started, hoping for a dry winter so I don’t get too wet at the side of a canal 🤣
Love this video! We going our 5 year old to the beeston let’s fish event and he caught a tiny carp and a break! What I love about fishing is the excuse just to be outside and getting the family involved!
After not going angling for a few years I found the programme very informative especially using a whip ,my grandson is keen to go fishing I remember my elder brother took me for the first time on the forty foot drain in Cambridgeshire and we caught some lovely bream (nostalgia is a great reminder of days gone bye.
Brilliant little video. Did a local get fishing event with my oldest two. Who now want me to get them a whip each. Have even dusted off my own kit from when I use to fish. Can't wait to get them out again and share the joy of fishing I had as a lad.
My son loved the couple of fishing events we attended this summer. Now, I need to be brave enough to take him fishing on my own. Thank you for the advice and tips 🎣😊
My kids done a taster session and now they both live fishing and have already taken part in 6 kids matches amazing work your doing with let’s get fishing and also got me back into from when I used to fish as a kid with my dad and fished matches run by the legend himself bob nudd. Thanks for helping my kids get into such a great sport
WOW, how simple is that, decent catch as well. Don’t be put off by anglers with a wheelbarrow full of tackle, they had to start somewhere as well. Can’t wait to get out there. Thanks a lot for the advice, still a bit to learn but getting there.
Just came across this video as me and my sons are new to fishing. You have made this very simple compare to having a reel which my boys struggle with. I will defo be looking at getting a whip for them Both
Loved the video very easy and great piece of kit my son just getting in to fishing he is 2 years old getting him a whip for him to go fishing with me. His own whip. Great competition 👏
The video was brilliant, loads of helpful advice. Me and my son love fishing together as it's great bonding time for mum and son you don't need a qualification to do it and it's amazing to be outdoors within nature ❤
I love how accessible fishing can be to people of all ages and abilities. I used to fish loads as a kid but haven't really done it for years..now I've got kids of my own and they want to go and I can't wait to get back out there!
Great event and great video! I love fishing, it definitely helps declutter my mind. My 2 kids love it too, they like being outside and the thrill of catching a fish!
Oh that is great my Daughter keeps telling me to take her fishing so this is easy! I thought it would be involve complicated reals, line, and hooks etc but thank you so much for he video :-)

My 13 year old son loves fishing … let me ask him why …. He just said that he loved it but last time when he tried to catch the fish for 4 days in a row and he didn’t catch any …he lost patience a bit 😅 ( maybe he needs a new fishing kit 😉 )
Organisations want more people to fish but charge kids for fishing the local canal. This is where kids learn. Moving onto licenses and rivers and pools .
