I swear, wavy is soo much more common than we think. Wavies just think that their hair is naturally frizzy and unruly and start beating it into submission with heat and stuff like keratin treatments. If someone says that they have straight hair that NEEDS straightening I immediately think "No, you're a wavy". Also, I was told many times that I HAD to diffuse. Nope. I hate loud stuff. I won't even let stylists diffuse or blow dry me. There WILL be some frizz if there is wind or humidity if your hair is not straight. We just need to accept it.

My hair before kids and coloring was straight and shiny. Now at 33, I developed the poof and it’s just gotten worse in the last year. Now I know why. 😂😅😢
@mchobbit2951
@mchobbit2951 2 месяца назад
@@mimil8677 In this case, I want to say probably not. Damage from coloring can make straight hair dull, poofy and frizzy. So it's likely that it's still straight, but just really damaged if it happened around the time you started coloring it a lot. Hormonal changes like pregnancy CAN change your hair texture but I think it's rare. I have mostly seen these changes during puberty, menopause or after chemotherapy. So you just have to experiment and figure out whether it's wavy, damaged or both. If it happened after coloring, I think it's definitely damaged whether it's now wavy or not.

@@mchobbit2951I did bayalage a year ago (2nd time ever) and it wasn’t like this. it’s def wavy when wet. My aunt has the same issue. Thick wavy hair runs in my family that’s for sure lol. We just never know how to manage it. My Pilates instructor said her hair turned super curly in her twenties when she had kids. she’s 53 now and very curly hair. I’ll experiment tomorrow bc I’m not liking my hair right now. I thought a haircut will help and I just got one last week. Still the same 😅
@mchobbit2951
@mchobbit2951 2 месяца назад
@@mimil8677 Yeah, I heard of it happening during pregnancy so it's possible though I do think it's not very common for the change to be that extreme (straight to very curly). With the extra info, it does sound like it's wavy but probably also damaged.

Loved the video girl but for the girlies who are broke or still live under their parents roof or as a teen who may have strict parents (no shade thrown towards my desi parents) try convincing your parents to buy you the pink Johnson’s baby shampoo. It worked for me, maybe didn’t fix my wave pattern (my hair is still figuring itself out) but it did help tame the frizz which is a must for us girlies who report to school at like 7.30 am. Bonus: If you need hydration like really need it but don’t want heavy products. Use aloe Vera gel (natural or store bought. It’s versatile so your parents may let you buy it) with any oil (castor, olive, coconut etc) as per your choice, mix it up and plop it in your hair and leave it on for like 30 mins. Rinse it off with the aforementioned shampoo and tada. No more dehydrated frizz ridden lions mane! (I used fresh aloe with castor as required according to your length and thickness)

You might want to try a sea salt spray. They work best on damp hair, so you can blot your hair out of the shower like usual, flip your head around a bit while applying the spray to get it reasonably distributed, scrunch a little, and then let it air dry. It should dry pretty quickly compared to other curly styling products, similar to how fast your hair air-dries with no product in it. It won’t be frizz-free, but it will bring out the curl and give you more definition and volume. Sea salt sprays can make your hair feel a bit rough though. What I do is rake a very small amount of a curl cream through my soaking wet hair while I’m still in the shower, right after rinsing out my conditioner, then blot the excess water out of my hair and do the sea salt spray as described above (and then take my dog for her morning walk so it dries very quickly in the sun). I find this makes my hair feel a lot nicer, but it doesn’t weigh my hair down or make it take forever to dry. (A leave-in conditioner would probably also work for this if you have one that you like.) A nice thing about going for an intentionally semi-frizzy “beachy” look is that it’s very easy to extend for multiple days. You can clip your hair up in the shower the next day and just let the humidity of the shower reactivate the products in your hair and then lightly scrunch any areas where the curl fell out or got weird or squished while you were sleeping. You can also use a water mister bottle if you’re not a daily showerer or just need more moisture, but just to make it very lightly damp for re-scrunching, not wet. It’ll frizz a bit from the re-scrunching, but that’s okay, it was never going to look perfectly tidy with this method anyway. If you feel like you need a little more oomph, you can use some more sea salt spray too, but I almost never do.

When I first saw a chart with 1a, 1b and 1c I got the lightbulb moment. My hair is not damaged 2a or something. It's just not the super straight 1a, but the slightly, barely there, not really wavy, 1c. 😂 So, maybe you are the same.

Omg thank you for making this video. I think of all the wavy hair care vids I've watched yours is the closest to mine bc others are way more wavier than mine, whereas I tend to fluctuate between wavy and straight sometimes. Also the way you explained the different types of waves helped a lot and assured me that it's not always the same every time. Much love!!

Thanks for the video! What will you do for day-two hair? Will you attempt to brush/comb it or will you do a co-wash? I have very similar wave pattern as you do, and I struggle with styling my hair the next day as it’s too bed-heady to not comb, but combining also makes it pouffy af, so I’m curious what you do! 😊

I was 37 when i realized my hair was not straight and that 20 years of straightening with a flat iron was killing it. So dry and split ends etc. I started deep conditioning weekly and actually a very curly pattern emerged. I only brush when my hair is dripping wet and always diffuse. I wish I could go back and tell my younger self that the friz wasn't normal and most people's hair doesn't curl when it's wet lol

Yes I love this! Basically my exact routine, except I also do sea salt before the gel, but I even use that same serum! It’s super cheap too. i also sometimes use the Not Your Mother’s Curl Cream, it’s very lightweight and moisturizing and also doesn’t leave a cast. I like that you brush it out and rewet it, I think that might help my bangs because I basically don’t touch it when I get out of the shower so they end up looking either super crazy (they’re the curliest part of my hair) or kinda wonky half waves because I combed them out

Something basic that I kinda missed all my life… wash your hair with cold water (around 27 Celcius), I was used to hot shower using hot water (39C) and my hair is dry and frizzy. I just realized all this time most of time in my life I shower with hot water lmao… after I get used to cold shower my hair is stop being frizzy and dry, and all I use is simple shampoo and conditioner 😂

Thank you so much! I’ve been worrying about my hair lately bc I’ve always felt that I do something wrong. It used to be extremely wavy as a child and then it slowly turned into your before pics! I chopped it off very short to let it grow healthier but I still don’t know how it’s supposed to be taken care of? My hair is basically virgin, I’ve never dyed it and I’ve barely used heating tools in it throughout my life and it’s still frizzy and poofy! I hope your video can help me, because I really doubt it’s straight! :)

I have wavy hair that takes hours to dry. Since it doesn't get frizzy & kinda straightens due to weight I don't worry about products. It would look good for one day & then feel weird the next 6 until I wash it again. It gets washed on Sunday so I don't have to worry about wet hair while at work. I find just using really good quality products to wash & condition & using a cotton hair towel is enough to scrunch in some waves that stay looking nice until I braid my hair for night, which just gives it braid waves instead.

How often do you shampoo? Do you condition every time your hair is wet, or only on shampoo days? My hair is long and wavy/straight. My 4yo daughter has ringlet curls. That's been fun and exhausting, learning to care for curls but they are almost always beautiful. Shirley Temple hair lol. My biggest problem with my hair is that it's SO dry from highlighting. It takes forever to detangle, so I only get it wet every other day, and shampoo 1 time per week. But maybe that's where I'm going wrong. Help! :)

I cant tell if my hair is curlybor wavy. I think its in between.. but i dont know. It was tight waves, and the very ends curl up, but my hair doesnt coil unless its at the very bottom (where its dying lmao). But i did find a little routine that works for me pretty well: Viori rice water bar shampoo - i have the citrus one! It is amazing!!! Briogeo - dont despair, repair, super moisturizer conditioner (I found that amikas antioxidant also works out with taming frizz, but it makes my waves so ugly lmao..) And just a melanin haircare leave in conditioner. This thing smells like plastic (id say ut smells like SHIT but thats an overexaggeration. It just smells kinda plasticy, but not many complain about it when i see reviews so it might not bother the majority.) Nonetheless, this thing is multiuse, so it is a crazy good investment. It is just so good. It tames frizz, acts as a moisurizer, and it can be used even on dry hair for a but of application on days when you need it. It is amazing. Just these 3 products (briobeo>amika) make my hair extremely beautiful - prettier than ive ever seen it before in my entire life. By the way, if you have any oils to lock in moisture, then that would be a huge help. I have a moroccan oil one and its pretty good. I think the total cost of all this is about $110 but it should last you multiple years. These are medium size bottles and for solo use should last like 4 years probably lol. Briogeo might not last upto 4 cuz its a conditioner but the others probably will easily

I am almost 17 right now and I have had frizzy hair after hair wash since forever. Only a few months back I started using this anti- frizz livon hair serum after wash and it has really worked out for me. I also have really greasy hair which leads to a lot of dandruff building up on my scalp hence clarifying shampoo is also really pertinent for a scalp like mine. Just wanted to share my wavy hair care routine..hope it helps :))

It will look good for an hour or two after drying but then gets poofy and frizzy all over again and won't look okay till next time I wash. Am I using the wrong products or the wrong technique? I have tried gels, mousses, leave in conditioners etc. Does anyone have any ideas?

if you have a loose pattern, it's very easy for it to wear off until your next wash. you can choose to refresh it (by wetting your hair and doing the routine again), but I personally just let it be lol

You might need to use a lot more product, from what I've learned so far. (Not multiple products. I mean a big blob of one product.) After applying and scrunching, don't comb or brush until it's *completely* dry. It's hard to find the right process! 😅

I’ve always complained about my slightly frizzy/poofy hair. I really hate it to be honest. It’s SOOOOO poofy and because it’s thick it looks insanely wack. I’m honestly not sure if my hair is wavy but I’ve asked stylists so many times why I can’t seem to get it less poofy and they never answer. I’m gonna see if a wavy routine works and see if that helps my unruly and poofy ass hair.

My struggle is that my hair gets knotted when I go outside and I can't stand it. So if I don't brush it, it's a matt, and if I do brush it, it loses all the waves and goes poofy. I've tried wide tooth combs but they don't detangle it enough for me :(
