What experiences have you got while in Bali?

@@dhiamaharani I seen the Uluwatu Temple and the Tegenungan Waterfalls, which are absolutely beautiful. Many food dishes that were amazing and I'm a foodie so I had to try as many as possible!!🤗 Bali was very relaxing and the people are very welcoming. I made a travel video on my page if you want to see the waterfall🤙🏾

Your comment is so true. I been to Bali 3 times. I am a budget long term traveler. These videos are great and all. But it is just not how I do my travelling and I am OK with that. I walk a lot. Walk around neighborhoods and stop at small local markets and local restaurants to get food. Going to the beach or hiking is free. Often many temples are free or low cost. And I still have a great time. Get a few beers and call it day. I do some more expensive tours or activities maybe once every 2 weeks (never very expensive). And I stay in 1 bedroom apartments, rooms, or bare bones places often. NEVER resorts. One aspect that videos like this portray is just one experience that many try to emulate especially if you are on limited time on holiday with money to burn, which is great, do that. One thing this does is how we Westerners are viewed especially by Balinese locals. They see these videos and the color of my skin and say hey, that person has $$$$$$$ to burn and I want them to spend it with me. Which isn't necessarily true. For example, I went to a rib place I really wanted to eat at and the dish was 150,000 rupiah, just a little too much for me at the moment, so I walked out. The Balinese workers were laughing at me and very confused that I didn't have the money. They are also very confused when I don't want to rent a motorbike or use a taxi and would rather walk. I am sure other ethnicities like Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arab, and probably if you are any skin color but with a Western accent are viewed in a similar way. But the white privilege thing is real abroad and perpetuating that is just not what I want to do. My final thought is that living that luxurious high life while in foreign places really separates yourself and adds to the inequality of the world even more than it is. Any time I am doing something that I know a local would never be able to afford to do, it gives me a bad taste in my mouth, like what did I do to deserve this, I was born in a Western Country? NO, I didn't do anything to deserve anything. And too many people carry themselves that way and demand that experience. Getting pampered is really uncomfortable too. Anyway, it all stems from colonialism, slavery, the global North and South, and at the end of the day I like making funny faces at the local kids making them smile, feeling humble, and doing me.
