@leledumbo
@leledumbo 6 лет назад
Actually from performance maintenance POV and battery life, P60 beats X30 by a quite significant margin. X series can be considered a failed design as none of its implementations are well balanced, while P series, starting with P20 forms a well balanced basis that they keep using to finally output a good SoC. The first significant leap is P60, with performance in between SD636 and SD660. First time it came out, it actually manages to put itself on par with SD660, but I have no idea why since Android 8 came out the performance keeps decreasing but not to SD636 level. It has more power efficient LPDDR4X RAM vs LPDDR4 on SD660, but in general consider battery life to be about similar (maybe some other factors in SD660 makes the whole SoC more power efficient).

I mean: relying on the tech specs sheets that I find in Qualcomm official site, the 450 is basically a 625 with clock frequency reduced by 10% both on cores and on gpu, is it correct? I would be very pleased of your kind reply.

@@GaryExplains sure I did! I am referring exactly to this point: how can we judge processors not listed in your list? For example the difference between the 625 and the 630 is practically negligible, while the 636 has a totally different structure. They all belong to the 600 series but they are not all basically the same
@GaryExplains
@GaryExplains 6 лет назад
Isn't it obvious? The 625 and the 630 have octa-core Cortex-A53 CPUs but the 636 has 4x Cortex-A73 and 4x Cortex-A53. So clearly the 636 is the better processor. Of course there is more to compare, but you get the idea.

Hey GARY. Why Apple iPhone prossesors is faster than Qualcomm flagship Snapdragon prossesors
@riomarchello7080
@riomarchello7080 6 лет назад
Firstly, Android OS is heavier than others mobile OS such as Windows Phone and iOS. Second, snapdragon is focused more on features than the performance, as long as your phone can run smoothly, they don't need to tuned the processor too much for a phone Third, a lot of apps can't adapt with the complexity of android, so the smoothness that your phone has deserve are 60% supported by the compatibilities of your phone in doing adaptation Fourth, the thermal throttling in snapdragon SoC is the most aggressive one, once you reached up to 40°, the CPU will smartly tune the performance down in order to prevent overheating and battery draining. But you can also tuning up your CPU by changing the kernel Fifth, snapdragon SoC is only use the base clock of CPU not the maximum potential of the CPU. And more reason

I'm intrigued by Windows 10 running on an ARM processor. Shouldn't every single app that runs natively on Windows x86 be ported over to ARM architecture? Unless a programme is written in cross-platform Java, you have to re-compile the code completely, with some laborious rewrites of the source code to be able to run on the same Windows 10 that until now ran exclusively on x86 processors. There is also the question how well can a RISC processors handle heavy work loads and some complex computations used in certain professional applications.
@GaryExplains
@GaryExplains 6 лет назад
All apps in the Windows app store are compiled for Arm and x86. Those outside the store can run under emulation where the x86 instructions are converted to Arm instructions. But it is slower. Lastly there is no reason why a RISC processor can't handle heavy workloads. Why would there be?
@elimalinsky7069
@elimalinsky7069 6 лет назад
@@GaryExplains an ARM processor which is built for power efficiency will struggle with the kind of heavy work loads performed in professional desktop environments. I believe Qualcomm are set to introduce a passively cooled CPU for a Windows 10 laptop, if I'm not mistaken. The performance out of this chip should be about the performance level of Celeron CPUs from Intel, which do struggle under heavy work loads, with even some home application tasks. My thoughts are that the ARM Windows 10 tablet/laptop will provide more or less the same kind of functionality expected from Android and iOS once more apps are ported to natively work on ARM. Simply put, you can't expect a 3W CPU to perform as well as a 30W CPU.
@GaryExplains
@GaryExplains 6 лет назад
I see. My confusion was that in your first comment you said an RISC processor. What you meant was a mobile processor. The Arm architecture itself and the Cortex designs can handle heavy workloads without any problem. But desktops processors have big fans and huge heatsinks, mobile processors don't. But you can build them that way if you want. For example there are several companies (including Qualcomm) who make Arm based processors for servers. Yes, Qualcomm will be releasing a Snapdragon processor specifically designed for laptops (rather than just being a beefed up mobile processor). I have a video about it over on the Gary Explains channel. Also, you might like to see my review of the Asus Flip C101 (as on the Gary Explains channel) as I show its relative performance to to some Intel based laptops. Overall Arm based Windows 10 laptops running Arm compiled programs have comparable performance to the equivalent Intel laptops.
@elimalinsky7069
@elimalinsky7069 6 лет назад
@@GaryExplains Thank you for your time and for your excellent explanation! You're one of the few RU-vidrs who actually takes the time to answer questions that arise in the comment section. Yes, I do realise that RISC processors can now perform basically the same tasks that a CISC processor can, and with greater efficiency. What I actually meant was a question to which target market does the ARM Windows 10 machine geared towards. I tried to stress that it is not very usable for the professional market in those circumstances where complex local hardware computations are in place.

Basically if you want a phone that can game confortably, make sure to get at least a phone with SD 665 or around there, but even in games like minecraft the framerate won't be locked at 60fps Then the next level: SD 720 and 730, those are pretty good but you'll start to pay more for phones If you are a rather compeitive gamer but don't want to spend too much then SD765G or 765 is best for you, in phones like OnePlus Nord. Finally you get the best performance with 865, 855+, 865+ and other 800-series chips. 845 is probably still more powerful than 765G but the battery efficiency isn't really there. SD439 (Samsung Galaxy A01) won't really do much, you can game a little but graphics have to be set to low, SD450 is a little better but not much And yes Snapdragon 865 is better than Exynos 990
