I just wish I could use the whiplash to swing a rocket around at an enemy. Like, if you are riding a rocket, imagine you could dismount by swinging the rocket around you and flinging it at your crosshair. At the moment I gotta ride the into the enemies
imagine if the whiplash functioned like the meat hook from doom eternal, it’d probably be harder to use but it’d definitely be more fun than the current “point A to B” whiplash we have now
If there is any image in existence that deserves Freebird playing over it, it's a blood-fuelled GoPro riding a rocket like a surfboard erupting from the bottom of the Ocean Styx in Hell to fight a Leviathan.

I think this is because I move around a lot. In my opinion, a sense of style comes mostly from the movement in the combo. The best DMC combos involve the player and the enemy flying around a lot, teleporting, launching, etc. If you just stay close to the enemy and dish out damage, it just doesn't look as appealing. Think of dance macabre with the rebellion - it's stylish for the first few times you do it, but it's so much cooler when you start flying, teleporting, jump canceling, and you only use dance macabre as a final touch to finish off a wave of enemies, and not the main part of the combo. Maybe I should do some video essays later on 🤔
@@Sheba7660 That is all entirely true! But I was also thinking about the fact that it also looks... Optimal? Like it doesn't just look like something you'd do for the hell of it, it looks like a genuine strategy you might employ during this specific boss fight because it gives you actual advantages.
@@weirdyakuzafan Because it IS genuinely a good way to fight him. If you look at other rocket ride videos for this level, people play it waaaay to safe. They got the movement, but since it isn't agressive, it lacks that stylish punch. I think we're right on the money here.
This video is the exact reason I love leviathan. When act 2 first came out I thought the fight was kinda cool but not as good as others. Then when I learned to rocket ride… fight slaps so hard. It feels boss and arena were designed around us having arial superiority.
Bro same, I actually hated this boss at first cause I kept getting styled on and hated my lack of mobility then I learned you can concur the sky's and bro this boss is so much fun. Hakita can't keep getting away with these phenomenal bosses.
@@robotmaster4515 first time I tried the fight I decided to try grappling to him to shoot the thing on his head, then he twitched weird and sent me so far up the whole world left render distance, landed a 10x Ultraricoshot just because I had so much time to set up coins while falling. Have not been able to recreate it either, no clue what happened, really wish I'd beaten him that attempt, would have been the coolest thing I ever did in a game.
Someone is already doing this, they did Clair de Lune without touching the ground. They even destroyed the pillars around the arena so it's only rocket riding while fighting V2.
this made me realize that i actually do really need to learn rocket riding tech not necessarily because it's essential to progress in any way, but because this looks like an extremely fun way to fight the leviathan
Never played ultrakill, but the way the rocket shakes when you ride it has so much energy. It’s forcing itself to go up with such raw, unfiltered power. Truly wonderful to look at this boss kill!
Try the demo on steam! It doesn't have all the new stuff or some balance changes, but the core gameplay is still there. It will take you 30-60 minutes to beat, and you'll probably buy the whole game as soon as you finish it!
Or if you could spectate your friends! Imagine being able to fly around the map and seeing all the carnage. Would be really interesting looking at runs that way. I know Hakit said no multiplayer, but I meant it in a way if you could record a demo and then anyone you shared it with you freeze it, freecam, slowmo, etc.
I know nothing about ultrakill but I keep seeing these videos. All I can tell is this robot man flips some coins, shoots a gun, then reality shuts down for a second, and then every body is dead. 10/10
Thanks! I've seen so many rocket ride videos playing it too safe (also pre nerf) and too many freebird memes in general where the gameplay isn't that chaotic. I tried to amend that here! (Maybe) Fun fact: the music is live in a different window, this isn't editing. I might post a gabe 2 fight with tenebre rosso sangue (it lines up perfectly with his monologue), but I wish we had radiant enemies already, he dies too quickly if I use anything advanced on him.

ultrakill is the only game i’ve ever seen that doesn’t have a problem with you breaking the game, actually… it actively encourages it. the only limit is just how sicko mode you can go
It really does show that the developers (I'm referring to Hakita and PITR, mostly) are really in tune with their fanbase. They even use techs like slam storage, which were never intended to be in the game.

Just so happens this game has a free 30-60 minute demo on steam! Try it, try some tech (you can punch your own shotgun bullets to make them explode!), and I'm pretty sure you'll want to buy the entire game after finishing it!
Jeezus christ and I thought using the Whiplash to turn Leviathan into a ad-hoc Rodeo was as wild as the fight could get. This is insane in the best way possible.
This video made me know about the rocket launcher thing, and also made me P-rank leviathan with this method, flying is just like 10x times more fun when fighting it
I love how you did the loop into jumping off and launching the rocket into an enemy. My #1 hope is for a buff that makes rockets that you ride and jump off of deal 1.5x increased speed and damage, or perhaps the 3rd rocket variant being even more dedicated to movement like having m2 create a grapple point. It looks as stylish as throwing your coins in a cool pattern instead of straight in one way.
I should do radiant leviathan sometime... For now, I decided to do radiant Gabriel 2 to bring a bit of variety to my channel, but I'll definitely give ol' leviathan a spin sometime in the future!
So this boss still somehow triggered a bit of my Thalassophobia, which is probably why I'll never be able to play this fully. However, what an amazing video wtf.
Worst case scenario, just get a completed save and skip the level, but what better way to start conquering your fears than to fucking style on them. Rise above. Rocket ride to victory.
I love the different strategies I’ve seen for leviathan. Some people try to fight him like corpse king, you did freebird, and I kept whiplashing into his open mouth and then parry deflecting the attach back down his throat while unloading the entire arsenal in there. It’s a good boss!
One of the reasons why Poseidon is one of not my favourite fight since you can just swing him around, go on a walk with him, ride on top of him, do circles around him and maybe even more
what i think is the cherry on top is that at the beggining of the video you are in the freefall getting in the level, making it seem that the styling it's been happening non stop in every level, and the same with the exit, fading out entering 6-2 banger display

Actually, I'd argue that this IS the intended way to fight the boss. I mean, the game gives you the whiplash just before you start wrath, and you also get the rocket launcher one level before the boss. And I think everyone who got as far as wrath knows you can rocket ride, it's just a matter of execution.
This is why I love the Leviathan fight so much, might be my favorite of Act 2, simply because of how chaotic the fight can (and will) get if you want it to. I think this video perfectly encapsulates that.
