Labrador puppies are like little sponges, eager to absorb everything about their new world and what's expected of them. They'll also be testing boundaries to see what they can get away with!
Puppies experiment with behaviours to understand if they lead to positive or negative outcomes. Your role as a new puppy parent is to guide them, helping them learn what's right and what you want to discourage. This means responding correctly to each situation.
Take barking, for example. Does your dog think good things happen as a result of barking? If so, they may repeat the behaviour again and again.
Do they think chewing furniture is acceptable? Then it could continue.
Is your puppy allowed to practice undesirable behaviours?
If so, they can become long-lasting habits as your puppy practices them into adolescence.
