I've always struggled with wanting to know what is going on but then feeling low and anxious. This seems to be a great idea, we need more good or at least balanced news. Well done!
I normally avoid 'news' as it quite often has an agenda in there. However when I do hear/see something like a person was attacked then of course I feel for the victim but I also think, wow - there are 68 million other people in my country and this is all the negative press can scrape up, there must be a lot of happy safe people living lfe today. Bad news sells, but thankfully good news is literally surrounding us every day.
How is it balanced when it only tries to show "good news"? They are trying to only show the good news, which by definition means they have to ignore or not show actual newsworthy events. This is a grift that allows people who are too afraid to actually face the world as it is, to continue to bury their heads in the sand.
I had no idea how much I needed to hear good news about the environment. I felt like I was going to cry. Thank you for sharing this. It’s so good to know that there are people and governments doing good things for the planet and their communities.
There's a few good channels for this if you need more. Leaf of Life, Mossy Earth and Planet Wild are all positive environment channels. There's also the Good News Girl, who does a lot of animal and otherwise just wholesome content that makes your heart swell. ❤
Mossy Earth is a good non profit that does similar projects. They have a RU-vid channel showing there work. But I don't think they are responsible for the Brazlian mangroves tho
I second this. Car crashes are killers, some injuries are invisible until x-rayed. It is very scary stuff. Public transportation like busses and trains are way more efficient than cars. And if infrastructure for it is well supported can be much faster than driving.
@@Local_custardPeople don't like the experience of public transport (I do too since I don't have a car) not to mention the *freedom* to get in your car and drive wherever you want, instead of a predetermined route.
Truth about soft fruits in Spain: now we are importing them from Morocco, which does not follow the strict agricultural laws imposed by the EU. This put some farmers out of business. We've just shifted the problem to a different country. And made Europe more dependent on imports. There's often more to a story.
@@iluvkoalas92 we try to eat local fruit when in season. Now most "local" fruit is just packaged locally, which means being very careful to read the labels.
@@SysterYster Good ideas don't require force. And force turns good ideas into bad ones. Are you familiar with the broken window fallacy? The #NonAggressionPrinciple?
Love your enthusiasm and I share your positive attitude as it is much healthier to our bodies. A happy or contented brain makes daily life easier. Change your thinking and you change your life! At age 75, I learned how to do this only a few years ago. I discovered that I can change my negative thinking by making myself change what I am doing. Example, I start to ruminate about somthing, recognize what I am doing, and then shift to something that always makes me happy, like reading a joke, playing rock and roll songs, gardening, etc. Those negative thoughts become lighter and more manageable.
What?? What's happening to me??? I feel slightly less discouraged, and my anxiety isn't out of control! And I'm almost at the end of the video... Is this broken?
As an English teacher in The Netherlands, I'm super stoked I've found your channel. Your channel is excellent to use for teaching 14-18 year olds, and not having to rely on the regular news channels! :)
It's easy, drugs are approved on a points system, it's only done as the cheapest way to get points to get the product to market, mostly it's not necessary but a cheaper method to get the points. Animal welfare activists tend to be more concerned with virtue signally and being angry. If the "activists" were really serious they would lobby to get the points legislation changed. The fact that most of them don't know about this proves they aren't really interested in the subject.
Yeah, I hope it works out. :) I hate animal testing, but I also have seen the need for it. So, being able to skip the animal testing for something that's actually better and cheaper is great for everyone involved. :)
I'm so glad to hear about the logging bans. Lumber companies ran rampant in the 1980s and their clear-cut logging turned the Pacific Northwest into a patchwork quilt. Our older second growth forests are good and need to be preserved, but truly old growth forests are growing almost non-existent and should become a national priority.
I agree... to a point. If we do not manage our old growth forests, they will become highly susceptible to wildfires. A wildfire in an old growth forest will release almost ALL of the CO2 they have removed from our atmosphere, back into our atmosphere. Selective logging and clearing areas for new trees to grow will decrease the fire danger and help make the fires that do start less dangerous and destructive. So, this outright ban, in my opinion, is not a good thing.
Right, shelterwood and group selection cutting techniques will allow older carbon stores to stay upright while providing opportunity for new growth to sequester carbon at a much quicker rate than old trees do. A blanket ban on cutting could be problematic, hopefully this is worked into policy.

@@Tazdeviloo7 We're in the middle of multiple wars around the globe that show no signs of stopping, but hey there's some coral going white. In the midst of countless bad news, people need good news to not lose hope and sanity. Get your priorities straight
Thank you for that first piece on ending animal testing. It's why I left science. We learn more about the particular species we are experimenting on and little about humans. Also, thank you for the good news about restoring ecosystems, wetlands, mangrove forests and protecting old growth forests. These are all key to fighting climate change, yes, but also to preserving biodiversity. Keep up the great work giving us good news! Much needed!
Loved the mangrove story and hope you can make a video elaborating more on this topic. Some many benefits and we are starting to seeing more organizations here in Florida preserve them.
Thank God I discovered this channel! As a human being, I'm naturally curious about news around the world, but when most of the news emphasize on bad and shocking news, it feels like I'm living in a dystopia and it it's depressing. However, in my heart I know that there is at least equal amount of good and inspiring news out there, and thanks to channels like yours I can prove myself right and become inspired again, maybe to become a source of such good news myself! Cheers, brother, keep it up!
I’m enjoying your enthusiasm and happiness so much! I need all my news given in this way! Thank you so much! I know you’ll continue to grow! My favorite news was the trash to land and the tree ban! That was beautiful! ❤
What an awesome way to start my day!!! Thank you! My favorite part was anything to do with the environment. But I also love how scientists are moving away from animal testing. All the good news is music to my ears!!! ❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️
Does it pollute the animal that lived around? I feel like that should have been elaborated. Also, are these mature trees more likely to cause forest fires? Because, it could be dangerous to not be cutting them down then.
Exactly my thoughts. Where does all the trash goes if we do not throw them into landfills and oceans? Is there a way to dispose the trash without degrading environment?
According to multiple sources it was sent to the Seropedica dump, which is a much more efficient & modern solution. And they also closed other open-air dumps (like the Gramacho landfill) which seemed to be more harmful.
Car deaths may have decreased, but I'm willing to bet there are more car accidents overall. It still shocks me as to how many people pay more attention to their phone than anything else while moving at 60 mph.
I wonder if the stats got influenced by the 2020 lockdowns. A lot of people had to stay home, driving somewhere to go happened a lot less since everything was closed up. A lot less accidents happen when less people are driving...
Quite happy to see a channel literally called Good News which brings good news into focus. One thing I would like to see would be sources, credits and links which back up your news; something we could read or search ourselves, and not only your digest. Thank you for this and please bring us more good news.
Do you know what's even better than old forests? Using the old trees as contruction material to preserve the carbon for centurys to go, while planting new trees to bind even more carbon. Trees tend to reach a maximum capasity of stored carbon with age. So look at it like changing a full filter for a new one plus finding alternative usage for the old one. Edit: Of course no clear cutting.
@@MHG796cars are inefficient, expensive, environmentally harmful, and developments built for them are entirely unsustainable. I recommend Strong Towns and Not Just Bikes if you are looking for a more detailed explanation
thanks for the dose of good news! it's all important news, but I'm moved tremendously by the need to preserve old growth forests. They are truly irreplaceable, hence my sense of urgency.
Thank you for this. We all need a dose of good news. Your videos are great, very high quality and I believe your channel will grow very much. We all need this. I know I am sharing this content with my people.
Logging should not be banned but should be selective. We should also track how the logs are used. An old tree will store CO2 but an old tree that is serving as timber elsewhere has the additional benefit of leaving space for a new tree that will takeout CO2. We should make sure that the tree that is fallen is used as unprocessed as possible as processing timber into sheet goods or other material could mean additional carbon released. It would be much better if they could replace things like tables and chairs that would be made out of plastic as well made wooden furniture can last generations.
I'm so happy that theres a good news channel!! Ah there are so many psychological benefits of having good news. it's so important to have hope and I worry that people these days watch too much depressing stuff which makes them give up on trying to make the world better.
When people clear landfills, like the one in south America, where does the trash go? What do we do with it? Do we ship it to another landfill somewhere else? Do we burn it? I imagine some is processed in recycling, but there is so little plastic we can recycle.
Wish you'd linked to more in depth coverage of these stories. I want to know what they did with all that trash and how they reduced road deaths so much!
We might do that in the future :) Here is an interesting coverage about the landfill: research.gsd.harvard.edu/zofnass/files/2016/08/11_CTRRio_MunicipalSolidWaste_EN_FinalFormat_2016-v.4.pdf
Yeah your right. We are just starting with this channel, so we will definitly improve our quality, but we also need the time & resources for that. But with this upload it looks very good :)
Why didn't the RU-vid algorithm show me this earlier?! Thank you so much for making these videos! Please continue making them, they are so good for the soul 😭🙏
I feel so... at ease... idek how to describe. I just feel calmer and better overall. This is my first time watching this channel, and I freaking loved it. Great job, thank you. It works... somehow. I am so confused. Doomscrolling is a real deal.
Comeenting so that this can get out there! People need to see the good in the world, because too many people think it doesn't exist just cus they can't see it, and that's horribly sad.. i hopw you keep going with this and that it gets better! And for me, i'm most optimistic about the landfill to forest because it proves that these issues can be taken care of with enough work and that it is crucially beneficial to do so!
