One of the biggest perks to me waking up spiritually, is really seeing the beauty and sexiness of a black woman rocking her natural hair. No shade to ladies that wear wigs and weaves its just something about the natural look on the black woman. I love it🌺

Yes it really does especially for low porosity hair. The key also is to rinse your hair after deep conditioning with cool water to close pores and lock in moisture.

Thank you for the good tips! I got the big chop 8/3/19 to start my natural journey. A licensed stylist over processed my shoulder length hair with a relaxer the end of May and it fell out really bad in the shampoo bowl and continued to fall out afterwards. So far I’m loving my tight natural short curls and educating myself on natural hair care.

Please note that these are suggestions, no one’s hair is the same. You need to alter what’s been said to what’s best for you. There’s a lot of trail and error in the growth journey. Personally I can’t use olive oil as it’s matts my hair almost instantly. I prefer using coconut oil.

Yea I used to spend a lot of time with my hand in my hair. It was what I would do when I was bored or focused on getting work done. And I would pull out my hair and cause it to shed. But I ended up deciding I was done worrying about length and wanted to try something new and cut it into a tapered cut and now I don’t do it anymore! One thing I might add is protein every once in a while. A protein condition once a month can help strengthen your hair!

I LOVE playing in my hair but I know it’s a big no no so I do it a lot less...to help even more I keep a snap cap on my hair as much as possible even when going out. Of course if I have a function or meeting to go to my hair is out again but I don’t play in it because I put it in a fancy style. Thank you for the video.

Good sound advice. Every tip you gave is very much valid! I sleep on a microfiber pillow case myself, microfiber satin in fact. It can go on the hot cycle in the wash (60°C), amazing and so handy to have! I have about 3 of them and change them out when I need to. My hair is "only" wavy/curly, but I have classic length hair (over the bum). I love it. It's been that way for a number of years due to good hair care. I can't think of things you left out. Nice video!

Yes I cut my hair with regular scissors for 4 years natural and said why my ends keep splitting then went to a professional and found out it was me lol not knowing you need a specific scissors for hair lol!

Shanique, these are awesome tips that everyone needs to be reminded. I would like to include that if you are wearing your hair straight and find it difficult to avoid heat. I recommend an overnight hot oil treatment. I part my hair in 6 sections (4 sections are fine too) staring with a vertical part from the center of my hairline (right where my widow's peak is centered) to my nap, I then create 3 even sections on both sides of the part. Next, I make sure my hair is detangled and I lightly wet each section with a spray bottle and apply oil to each section. I generously apply the oil (Grapeseed Oil, Avocado Oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Emu oil, Jamaican Castor are all great) to each section, but I make sure that the oil is dripping from the sections too. Once the oil is applied, I place each section into a Bantu Hair Know secured with a clip. Once all sections are knotted, I place a plastic two bag (for deep penetration and hydration) over my hair along with a bonnet or scarf over my hair. I also will place a towel over my pillows and sleep on it. You can allow your hair to absorb the oils during the day too but I would recommend at least 4 hours OR you can sit under a bonnet dryer on medium setting for heat and allow the hair to absorb the oil for an hour. I prefer the overnight or 4-hour setting. When it is done and I pull off the plastic bags from my hair the next morning, my hair has absorbed all that wonderful oil. My hair was loving me so much after 3 months once I began this routine. My AWESOME hair stylist said that I made her job SUPER easy because of how I take care of my hair. I now will include clarifying my hair once a month or once every other 6 weeks as well.

I struggle with hair growth because I have trichotillomania. I have a field day in my hair if I wear it down. Don’t know why, but it’s calming. Almost like a pacifier. Over the years I’ve learned to keep my hair tucked away in protective styles. It helps tremendously with the urges and prevent hair loss.

Thank you so much for delivering your message clearly and to the point 👏🏾, I just subscribed and I will be watching often. I guess I have a hand in hair problem, but that is because I love touching my curls 😏 I will be more con conscious not to do that 😔
