I've just got home from Fraser a few days ago and I loved it. With phone reception there is only Telstra. I have Dodo who use the Optus network and had none. I did get reception in Eurong but when I tried to make a call I got a message saying "Network not recognised". I did go to Ungowa one afternoon and get service there.

Hi Tyler I was just about to buy a Rhino rack system for my Ranger ,then I watched John Cadogan he suggested your Video , so I have to thank you both , A suggestion to you seeing as you have already researched this problem is to contact your local member of Parliament and ask them to make legislation to force manufacturers to display their complete weight allowances for their Racks, as I would bloody bet they won’t do anything about it themselves, not when it means a loss of business I am subscribing too mate Anyhow cheers mate and thanks again

Being a Brisbane lad spent a lot of time at Moreton but also Fraser. Fraser way better for fishing although if you're there at the right time Moreton can turn it on too. Mate hit a pig at night on the beach at Moreton once. Poor pig guts spilled and he was dead quick. There used to be brumbies and goats there also. The bunkers on eastern beach of Moreton definately an interesting tour and nice view from the top of one. They are quite extensive and you can easily miss a couple if you don't know where to look. There was a track that went from Tangalooma to the bunkers called Rous battery track. We drove from Tangalooma one time and took hours as it was overgrown only to find the Rangers had put a large concrete cone to stop traffic coming from Eastern beach direction. We spent another hour or two moving wood and sand to build the ground up around it to drive over it. We noticed soon after they blocked the entrance from Tangalooma end. 😂

Been to fraiser 3 times and moreton 2 times, Like u said if you could only do 1 I would go to fraiser. But now ive done both, I prefer moreton island because its more relaxing and easy to get around .In saying that what i usally do is do both islands in 1 holiday trip. If your new to 4wdriving on sand I would do moreton island first then do fraiser after because its harder and need more skills to drive on fraiser

Oh man the pigs at Moreton! Back before camp setups were as advanced as they are now. We use to have a group of many families that would go each year. We never really seen much of the pigs but one year they were everywhere! Everyone was using those plastic kmart style boxes for food storage. We had pigs breaking into food boxes and busting open tinned food and anything in a packet! There was a camp site down from us that made a pig trap and caught a pig and the rangers had to come take it away. They have plenty of permanent pig traps on the island so they might have slowly wiped them out over the last 15-20 years or so

Great video. The Tangalooma resort bypass track on Moreton can be a challenge, especially if it is a busy time where vehicles come face to face. Deep, soft sand and it is a little hard to jump off the track in spots. So with inexperienced drivers, it can be a choke point.

I’ve been to Fraser 3 times - absolutely love it. We did mainly beach beach camping outside of the dingo fences, which is great because you can enjoy the scenery and have a bit more privacy. Just have to be a bit mindful of the dingos if you have smaller children. It can be a bit stressful making sure the kids don’t wander off. My next family trip will be to Moreton because of this, (and we haven’t been to Moreton yet) Great vid on a Sunday morning as usual! Cheers

Hah Tyler, I've put my opinion in a comment on your recent trip to Moreton. We've done both, K'gari is an annual occurrence, hence there lies my preference, K'gari anytime over Moreton. I'm so impressed you recommended K'gari over Moreton for anyone only able to do 1 over the other. Moreton worthy of a visit but not in preference to K'gari. K'gari definitely for Fauna & Flora. There is just so much more to see do on K'gari, I'm always learning of new things to do, for instance on our trip this year accommodating to younger attendees with us, we discovered cocktails are available at Happy Valley. Discovered that is a definite way to run up the credit card balance. Diesel far more viable purchase in my opinion but young ones will be young ones. Keep the good entertaining informative material coming as I'm truly enjoying your content. Close by being a tad controversial, dogs have no place/reason to accompany anyone into a N/P. Leave the mut at home or board it.

Wouldn't piss on any part of Australia that won't let a man and his dog in. I don't believe responsible dog owners hurt the bush any more than some of the visitors from other countries and yet they may visit and leave rubbish in the bush. The places that I'm permitted to take my dogs I see plenty of rubbish left behind such as toilet paper and other household rubbish from locals and visitors. I'll be happy as Larry when this country treats it's locals that have dogs as well as they treat people who come from other countries. Don't tell me that the smell of dog shit scares the wild life more than listening to the sound of a screaming 4x4 and kids music and so on. Australia be as tolerant of responsible dog owners as you are visitors from other countries and we can all be happy.
@brandonpeall3912
@brandonpeall3912 Год назад
Yeah mate, I understand your frustration. The rules around dogs in national parks can be inconsistent sometimes. However, I personally have no problems with Fraser (and other national parks) being dog free. For the sole reason that if dogs were allowed, sooner or later, someone who isn't a responsible dog owner will accidentally let their dog (or more likely lose their dog) eat some wildlife or breed with a dingo. The dingos on Fraser are the last dingo population on Earth that haven't bred with domesticated dogs. Feral dogs and cats are a massive issue out west, they are so destructive to livestock and wildlife. Baiting and trapping works only so much, prevention is better than the cure. Rubbish and human shit are terrible to see in national parks. But rubbish can be picked up and shit is biodegradable. Feral dogs (and cats) breed and once that door is open it can't be closed; e.g. wildlife can't be un-eaten and dingos can't be un-bred.
@scrotumguts5139
@scrotumguts5139 Год назад
@@brandonpeall3912 I agree, it's like the people that breed here from other cultures and sooner or later thier of spring is holding a knife to the throat of poor innocent people. Don't get me started on what immigrants are doing to celebrating Christmas. Then you get people driver their shagged out 80 series called sooty spreading smoke all over the native wild life driving on the beaches but a man with a dog is off limits, Discrimination against people with dogs is real. I wouldn't be sad if they closed Fraser the Cape and High Country.
@brandonpeall3912
@brandonpeall3912 Год назад
@@scrotumguts5139 Woah mate, that took an unnecessarily racist turn. Sure, some people do immigrate here and commit crimes. And sure some people come here and are reluctant to assimilate. But that’s a minority, for the most part, the majority of people who immigrate to Australia are top folk. And if you’re mad about the small group of modern immigrants who sometimes behave poorly, and perceive them as “ruining Christmas” or whatever other imagined offence you believe they are committing; I wonder if you are equally mad about the majority (not minority) of European immigrants who came to Australia and explicitly set out to wipe out the Indigenous and their culture.

@@tomharding3126 if it's as you say, ban 4x4s they are driven by filthy humans that crap and piss all over the bush, leave toilet paper everywhere and so on. If about saving the flora and fauna I am certain the heroes on 4WD24/7 with sooty and all there copy cats polluting the planet should also be banned. It's only a matter of time and they will close the islands to all. A FIFTH of World Heritage-listed Fraser Island foredunes have been destroyed by four-wheel-drive vehicles, prompting a call for limits to be set. At least 235 vehicle tracks have been cut across Fraser's dunes, with most related to camping. Because dunes were the first defence against storms, vehicle-induced damage was likely to accelerate erosion and shoreline retreat, researchers said. Of the island's 124km of ocean beaches, 122km are open to vehicles. Thomas Schlacher, associate professor of marine science at the University of the Sunshine Coast, said the bare sand of inter-tidal areas was often regarded as being more resilient to vehicles than sensitive dunes - but this was wrong. "What is generally not known - or at least appreciated - is that beaches are diverse ecosystems in their own right," Professor Schlacher said. "Contrary to popular belief, beaches are not marine deserts." A beach could contain dozens of invertebrate animal species in the sand. If smaller species were counted, this rose to hundreds. Drivers who thought they did not damage beaches because they drove on the hard sand at low tide were wrong, Professor Schlacher said. "They don't realise they are driving over little animals underneath the surface," he said. "The tide washes over their tracks and makes everything nice and smooth again but the damage has been done." 4x4s and then I will say.......it's not about you and what you like doing.....no offence or butt hurt intended.
