Would a blast with a hairdryer not sort out the Toast jacket,I have a pair of fjallraven trousers these can be self waxed using a hairdryer and a bar of Greenland wax, probably the same principle.

Thanks Luxury Pickers for sharing your knowledge with the world and me especially your encouragement to be confident with pricing has rubbed off and I've increased my prices . I picked up a Mother of Pearl dress for£6 today that is stunning Not sure what to list it for? Charity shops my way have sale £1 rails I've done very well with today . Happy new year both x

0:07 Three rather nice Chinese prunus jars in the window. They vary a lot but average £20-£80 each. 17:51 "profits over projects" wise words, similar to my never buy BUTS (items you have to add the word BUT when describing, for example a stunning silk Valentino dress BUT its been restored). As for telling shops when they have got an attribute wrong, I do it all the time for shops with teams I like. Shops with crazy high prices on crap to start with I don't bother.

Wonderful and Interesting as always guys, you both work very hard over Christmas. Most of the charity shops near me are all closed till New year and What an angel you are Bethany letting the shop know the Valentino dress was genuine. I am still only selling on eBay but as you recommend check all comps everywhere else which I do. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge in your wonderful entertaining episodes. Alexa x

It was Mark Curry who said ‘here’s one I made earlier’ on Blue Peter! Neil Buchanan would start the show with something like ‘This is an Art Attack….This is an Art Attack…This IS Art Attack!’

Would you have told the shop it was real if you wanted to buy it for yourself? Doubtful. You take the whole joy away from genuine people looking for a bargain for personal use not to resell and make money out of it. Shameful.

A very interesting conversation. And one that can be weighed up in many different ways. As resellers we spend thousands in charity shops a month, which the average normal human doesn’t. Equally tens of thousands a year. At the time of purchase in this store we were buying multiple products, and it’s a store we visit regularly. The piece itself wasn’t something we were interested in, however it doesn’t take away from the fact the charity shop could have made slightly more from the piece knowing it was authentic. Because at the end of the day it’s for charity. We really like to help and teach people to resell from charity shops etc to perhaps enhance a extra income or work from home. In return charity shops also benefit. Hundreds of thousands of items of clothing are donated every year and there is plenty for everyone. And we also offer free authentication over on Instagram so if you do fine a gem for yourself personally in the wild we’re more then happy to authenticate it for you free of charge.

So would you have told the shop it was real if wanted to buy it for yourself? You didn’t answer the question. 🧐
@theluxurypickers
@theluxurypickers Год назад
Yes we very often do. We are more then happy to pay whatever price the shop wants. And have paid hundreds of pounds for items in charity shops. If we had wanted it, I would have told the lady at till point it was authentic. And likewise when we didn’t buy it. We often get asked if we tell charity shops items are fake that they have listed at authentic prices. And likewise we do that as well. In most cases they don’t write on the label that they are unsure on the authentic nature of the piece. We were Simply giving a answer to the query on the label to help the charity shop. This isn’t a moral question, very simply we helped a charity shop authenticate a item they were unsure on.

Why the negativity? I don’t believe Luxury Pickers have anything to feel shameful for, let alone having to feel they needed to explain themselves to anyone, I too buy and sell things I’ve bought from charity shops I don’t feel shame in earning money, I haven’t scammed or cheated anyone, I’ve paid the price stated and nine times out of ten I’m usually buying many items, the charity shops I go to know I buy and sell and put things to one side for me knowing how much I spend at a time, I’ve also pointed out designer items that were way underpriced at £3 one being a pair of Gina toe post sandals with Swarovski crystals uk 7, I could have bought them to resell or even kept them but chose to show the manager how much they actually sell for, they were then put onto their online page, and was told they were sold within four hours at their buy now price of £120, do you not think you’re comment was rather rude ? just a thought or even a question but do you think the person or persons on the board of charities feel shameful with what they earn? I very much doubt they do, best wishes for2023.
