That was an awesome one-handed shave, Eric! Not too long ago, I also did a one-handed shave. I did similar moves, except I was able to go up the right sight of my cheek (ATG) and I go south to north on my chin. However, I use the heel end of the razor as I from the center to the left. Now, I don't think that I would try a one-handed shave with my non-dominant hand. In any event, you did a great job! Have an awesonme weekend!

That's a fine looking lather. I have always shaved one handed, just like writing. I was astonished to hear people on forums talking about using Lefty to help do the job. To me it seems to be a novelty. It was funny to see how awakward it was for you even as an experienced shaver. It's also interesting as it is the same brain driving the hands, but shows how much muscle memory counts. It was intersting to see how your grip changed so much! I pretty much use the standard 2 fingers either side of the scales. I now give Lefty a quick shot on the throat, but he's inferior to Righty & I hate to have to use Lefty exclusivley.

Nice! Its funny to me that I shave with both hands with straight razors but only right hand with DE on my head and face. Just seems more natural. You did great.

Great one handed shave Eric, nicely adapted inverted pass. Frank Strömberg, Dave Card, Doug Bear and yourself are the best that I have seen at demonstrating the inverted pass. Great question Gordon! ;) I'll set the bevel using the 1000 side of my Suehiro followed by the 3000 side of this combo stone, then it's on to my Shapton 8k ceramic stone. From there I can go to my 12k Shapton ceramic stone and then to my ILR, but most of the time I'll go from my 8K straight to my ILR. Matti is one of the best one-handed straight razor shavers I've ever seen. Glad to see you taking an ambitious risk, my friend! I remember I used to shave like this myself, as I was too scared to have a slip-up with my left hand and cut myself. But since learning to switch, I’ve gotten far better, more precise shaves. Though hey! Some experimentation here and there never hurts.:)
