I like the new content! Oh man, but being Asian American myself, I ALSO wondered about this whole formula on giving money gifts for events and stuff while I was growing up. My parents had whole notebooks of people’s names and the dollar amount they gave for weddings/funerals and I’m like “er…does it matter the amount they give? Why do we keep track of it?? What if they just don’t have money to give at that time??” But what they eventually boiled it down to was “It doesn’t matter the amount they give, but we’ll keep the information so that in the future when we get invited to one of their weddings/whatever, we won’t give them anything less than they gave us.” My family also has the Christmas tradition of putting Christmas cards with money in our tree, so it looks kind of weird with all these envelopes just randomly stuck on a branch, but we just love opening them on Christmas Day in addition to our other gifts, lol.
