SO insightful. Reminds me of my hubby, He tells me "Dont waste your pain". If I share about how I am feeling than none of the pain is in vain. I can get the release I need by sharing with someone and then we can connect at our points of pain. HALT is another good one my mom used to tell me. Great video Tracee!

There is so much stigma attached to having feelings depression, especially within the black community, that conversations like this are not as commonplace as they should be. I applaud the questions and your heartfelt response. You should do another Google hangout for this topic with other people so that we can share and swap "tools" with each other.

Thank-you so much for sharing...I used to think that I was a punk(a little harsh, yes I know) when something would make me cry, but now I know that just like a balloon, a person can only take so much pressure. Now that I know better, I am confident in the fact that my tears don't compromise my strength.

Powerful! I struggle with helping a way to build my mother in law back up after my brother in law was murdered. She's older and it's taken a really bad toll on her mind body and soul. Hopefully I can be a motivation to her the way you are to me.

Simple, yet profound! Good thoughts especially like "HALT: Hungry, Angry, Lonely or Tired". Isn't is something that this is really when we should just stop, pause for a time to eliminate these 4 issues; but instead we do try to "push" through to the next issue... therein lies a problem.
