Hey! Try this: 1) neutrogena hydro boost moisturizer (the one for sensitive skin!!!) or tbh whatever your favorite under eye cream is 2) sunscreen (the best imo is the sun bum face 50) 3) for eyeshadow primer don’t buy drugstore (don’t buy drugstore primer ever. Unless you wanna use the elf primer putty) use more of your under eye cream and set with a LITTLE bit of setting powder 4) for color correcting use elf. Just trust me. Use whatever colors you need for your under eye colors 5) for foundation, use your favorite one. The skin prep is what’s going to make your foundation pop. I use my OG L’Oréal infallible bc I combo skin. The moisturizing prep keep it from looking too matte:) 6) concealer: NYX born to glow (TRUSSSTTT MEEEEE) 7) eyebrows: cover girl brow pencil (the thin one) 8) contour: if you really insist on using a cream contour and want to buy drugstore then get the wet n wild duo stick. It’s comparable-ish to KKW. I’d suggest just using your favorite bronzer though. Sometimes drugstore just doesn’t get those really specific steps right and it’ll look better to leave it out 9) set with coty air spun or cover girl loose powder. NYX also has a good loose powder 10) use a light hand with physicians formula butter bronzer (another OG) 11) blush- Milani baked blush in your color 12) highlight- juvia’s place or elf 13) top your lips with your favorite lip liner (I use wet n wild) and some gloss/ Vaseline. Finish off your brows with a soap brow or hairspray for hold NYX setting spray and voila!
Seriously!!! She is so helpful and informative, I actually learn something and am not just watching someone push products on me in every single video like other youtubers who've been around for a long time. Love her!
yess please do a drugstore one! i love this look and i don’t wear full makeup that often BUT i’m about to go to college and this is too stunning to not try
I love how you give credit to from whom you’ve learned things such as mentioning Wayne Goss, Robert Welsh, and Lisa Eldridge. It shows your humility and sincerity which I love from you 🖤 I also love those make up artists and they’ve taught me how to do makeup for myself, not according to what’s just trendy. 😊
Robert welsh actually said he doesn’t care about credit because his techniques are basic makeup techniques that everyone learns in school and have been doing for years.
Yass! I was watching a live and the girl was using a technique that I told her about and mentioned that and she goes uh no I've been doing this for a while you didn't teach me that and it really hurt me being the little guy ya know?!
Thank you for actually zooming in and not using a filter on your skin. It’s so refreshing to watch makeup tutorials that ACTUALLY shows the skin with all your pores, texture, wrinkles, etc. because it really does help see how the makeup preforms on skin in real life than in a picture.
I agree. I can't stand super fake people who never show us their real skin or texture. Everyone believes it to be their real skin too which is quite sad and damaging to a certain degree. I can't stand these skin filters, Photoshop ECT it is not a realistic image and makes others feel like something is wrong with their skin when they don't see texture or pores or break outs which is completely NORMAL for everyone to have. I respect make up tutorials more when they are not afraid to show the real thing.
The BH Cosmetics Studio Pro brushes are fantastic! They're actually more affordable than a lot of drugstore brushes, but are hands down some of my favorites regardless of price.
I bought these brushes a few mos ago from Amazon.. crazy deal and theyre astonishing goood qualitiy for the price. First set is smaller brushes, $7 for 12 unique ones, grsat concealer and eye brushes in here.... Anmor Brush Sets-12 PCs Makeup Brushes for Foundation Eyeshadow Blending Face Powder Blush Concealers Brush Kit 2nd set was $10 for 14 brushes, larger ones for powder, blushes, etc. Also E.L F. Brushes are solid. Ive had all 3 tpes for 6 plus mos, no bristle loss, really good bang for your buck. Hope these help! Oh, and I love E.L.F.s brush cleaner charcoal disc thing and a plastic weave placemat from dollar store to scruff brushes against in the sink to clean em. The lighting is so much better, we can see way more detail! Also as someone on a lower makeup budget, I'd freaking love to see you do a drugstore product version of this video!!
It’s so nice to see someone that uses a painterly eye when applying makeup. I feel like this is how I’ve been doing it for years but didn’t really think about it that way. People with art backgrounds and POV, in addition to their professional training, make the best makeup artists, estheticians and plastic surgeons.
I'm 30, and this is makeup GOALS. Seriously. I am so tired of my breakouts, and I have never been a huge fan of using concealer on them, so this is a new method I can try while still using the exact same products I'm used to. Beautiful. ❤
like I honestly feel bad for people who haven’t discovered this channel. you are the greatest. i feel so productive just by watching and listening. I learn with every video and even if it’s something I already knew, you explain it in a way that makes me think about the purpose of each step, not just throwing makeup on my face to look good. it enhances everything when you know why you’re doing what you’re doing, so much more mindful. it’s easy for anyone to apply it to their own routine, face shape and features as well. love you Alex😭😭
Props to using light theory and form to show people how to use these techniques for THEIR features. THIS is embracing diversity in the makeup community. Notice how she says how “this specific feature on MY face looks like this... blah blah blah... this is how I use color to create shade and shape”. Very encouraging to see the techniques highlighted, encouraging us to extrapolate to other skin textures and colors and face shapes. She is a true artist. LOVE IT
Love that you're still real and honest about your break outs, but you don't shit on yourself for it either. It's refreshing to see someone who doesn't immediately go "my whole skin is trash!!!!!" Just cause of some acne spots, and is comforting to see.
I can’t tell you how much I love your videos. You’re one of the ONLY youtubers that takes her time and doesn’t LOAD on products. It’s not about having the big triangle of concealer under your eye or a ton of foundation on, or contour. It’s truly about less is more and making the right placement. You make it look easy. Thank you so much for ALL of your videos! I LOVE YOU !!!!
this may be a really weird comment but i love your micro-expressions and how genuine they are. like the little twitches or eye rolls or shrugs...also love that your words are your own, you don't sound like other youtubers' soundbites (i.e...."guys, i am literally. obsessed."). great video, thanks for these in-depth tips!
Popping to say that I'm never not obsessed with your looks and tutorials and that those timestamps you mentioned in the beginning would totally up your YT game beyond the 100% that it already is.
Thank you for showing your real skin texture and not using filters. As a makeup artist, and someone who deals with acne prone skin, I feel like RU-vid perpetuates unrealistic beauty standards. So many people use filters on their cameras and it makes people so frustrated that they can’t achieve the same results as some RU-vidrs. I appreciate your transparency and honesty 💕
I love how you go back to people like Wayne Goss and Lisa Eldridge and how you use their tips - it really helps cement their techniques and make them easier for me to understand!
Love this look! Drug store products or even mid priced products you can find at Ulta etc. I really appreciate how you are aware of people’s differing budgets. It makes all of us love you even more! ❤️
Hi Alex, I would just like to say how grateful I am for your tutorials and how you don't use filters and actually show us what foundation should look like on the skin. And not to mention, how to actually spot conceal a blemish and not just small hyperpigmentation no one can see. Thank you, Alex
I love the new lights, omg, i can see YOU. So many people online either use filter on their camera or in edit, so you never see how makeup or them actually look like. Amazing! Love this video
It is so amazing to see someone apply makeup with a light hand like a professional mua as opposed to covering their entire face with concealers, foundations and soaking it in blush ans bronzer all over . ☺ I recently discovered your channel and have learned more from you than anyone else. This is a beautiful look..and looks gorgeous on yyou. It is so nice to learn from you Alexandra...
Yes to the drugstore and I have been trying out the hydrating the “f” outta my under eyes since your video about it and it works like a dream so thank you 🙏 ❤️
The lighting and camera quality on this video get a chef's kiss 💋 from me. I love all your videos teaching us stuff but I just really wanted to call out the quality! A++ i could only imagine how hard it is to get it right.
A drugstore-based products tutorial like this would be excellent! Thank you for always being real, always being cool, and just being gorgeous all around 🖤😻
Can I tell you, my eyes were glued to my screen the entire video? This video was not only super informative and thorough, but so freakin’ relaxing I felt like I was in an “Alex Trance!” LOL When you started pinpoint concealing I thought, “I remember watching Lisa Eldridge show how to conceal like that years ago..” and then you said the same! I’ve learned so much from her and Wayne and, most definitely, from you! Thank you so much for this in-depth tutorial. Longer, more detailed videos from you are amazing!!! A drugstore version would be super helpful!! 💜
this is the first makeup video ive watched in its entirety without skipping and its 30 mins long! love your personality and your tips were super useful!
This is a great tutorial, thanks girl. I love how you don't have music on in the background, it makes your voice clear and means I can listen the sounds in my life in the background. You are a great teacher! 😊👌💜 can't wait for the drugstore version too 💯
Drugstore products please! 💗💗💗 I love your videos so so much. You actually TEACH us. You’re so professional yet, so inviting and easy to watch. You’re gorgeous and so talented and I appreciate you 🥰
Alex, I just finished the video + ads and I loved every single tip that you gave away. The most impressive thing is that you are taking all the necessary time to explain as if it was a makeup class (I think it kinda is) and I'm loving your channel because of that. Keep it on!
@@Doorknobperson2 no wearing makeup is a way to express urself it’s literally art on ur face lol using filters makes it impossible to actually see what the product looks like on. 🤷🏻♀️
