The Angels caller had me in tears. I’ve never heard a more broken man. I don’t wanna laugh at my guys misery, but that was a man scorned by the one he loves
Its bullshit. Our fanbase is a bunch of crybabies. We're gonna have a better season this year than any of the years prior. We act like we don't have to contend against the Astros and Rangers and Mariners AND the AL East for a playoff spot every year. The only thing that's failed us is our injuries, and our lack of a good coaching staff. Now we have full health and hired a top tier coaching staff for this year, with the leagues best rookies on our team getting ready for a breakout year. Trout is healthy, Rendon is healthy. Drury and Rengifo came into their own last year too. Sandoval, Canning, Detmers, and Silseth are all young and they're getting better and better as the years go on. Without the pressure of Ohtani too, we're gonna play freely. And with way more chemistry. We're so quick to count ourselves out which makes me sick, cause why even be a fan if you're gonna be a cancer to your own team. I got faith and a lot of us should
I left the Angels fan voicemail… yes I am as depressed about this team as I sound lol. 10+ years of fandom and defending this franchise and nothing but an ALDS sweep and some individual player awards to show for it 😔 Oh and that was my cat meowing lol
Man, I’ve been an Angels fan for 21 years. I grew up in Anaheim, and became a fan the miracle year in ‘02 when I was just 13 years old. I’m almost 35 years old and have watched every season since then, and I just don’t know how much more disappointment year after year can possibly take. I feel like the organization would rather beat my head in with a brick then let me watch my team have some small measure of success. This is the first year that I legitimately don’t care one iota for something that has always been a huge part of me. I have always counted down the days until pitchers and catchers report. I am purposely ignoring, so I don’t let myself get hurt again, lol. Sucks man. It ain’t fun anymore.
You guys are sad man. We have a bright future. Everyone's so quick to join the narrative that we're some trash/poor team. We had plenty of success 2004-2010 basically winning every year, we won the division in 2014. Last 10 years ever since the Astros joined its been them and their dynasty. They're like the warriors of baseball. We've tried and tried with many different pieces, and moved mountains to try and win. We're the team that got Ohtani. We're the team that had Pujols. We STILL have one of the best players of all time in Mike Trout. But yet we act spoiled. Yes its been disappointing but you can't say we havent tried. For once, this year especially. It feels like we have an actual team together. With an actual coaching staff top to bottom that can make a difference for our guys. Along with our absolute stud young guys, this team is going to grow into a contender, and we're only an Ace or two and a bat away from that. If it wasn't for our injuries over the last 5-6 years, we would have been in contention. The AL West has become the top 2 hardest divisions in baseball, its HARD to make the playoffs for us. So instead of giving up, like a bandwagon bozo, have a little faith. Cause the chemistry this team is going to have this year will turn some heads. And I predict an 80 win season. Cause the pressure from Ohtani is gone, and the togetherness thats been built into this roster is going to make a big difference. I'm an angels stan since birth and until death. So mark my words we will see a championship before 2030
@@connornocap man i have no idea what you're talking about. morale is worse than it has been in YEARS. I don't know if you saw Trout's interview, but he's obviously super disappointed and even mentioned possibly asking for a trade in the future. Rendon is hated by the fan base and puts in no effort to improve even when he's healthy. No top tier pitching has been signed in forever, just 4.50 ERA washups year after year on 1-year deals. The Rangers spent serious money on pitching and in a year turned their franchise around. How are fans supposed to look at the friggin Rangers who finished dead last for so long do what they did and not feel like crap. And we lost Ohtani cuz he knew how pathetic this organization was run. There's so little to look forward to for several years.
@@geoffjohnson6555 well instead of looking at the negative I look at the positive. So thats what I'm talking about. Even without Trout or Rendon we have a lot to look forward to. All of our young guys are studs and we have a hell of a farm coming up. So you can be a bandwagon fan all you want and sulk about all the BS. Or you can be an actual fan and want our team to succeed. Ron Washington is a great coach we have a whole new coaching staff. They're gonna play with a chip on their shoulder. Its not always about numbers or names in baseball. Im hopeful for our future. And if you're not so be it, that doesn't do us any help
Eddie Rosario is a perfect fit for the padres. That’s a great shout Jake. As a Braves fan that man absolutely crushed every NL west team we played. I’m talking prime Barry Bonds level of play. It was ridiculous, it got to a point where it was a meme amongst Braves fans.
As an angels fan that call in was so funny bro we really be down bad 😂 on a real note tho I think it’s all eyes on RON WASHINGTON!! Let’s see what he can do with this org!
We're in a great spot tbh, idk why everyone's freaking out. We have a brand new coaching staff, everyone's healthy, our young guys are studs, we have less pressure on us cause of ohtani, our starting rotation are still only 23-26 years old... They're getting better and better as the years progress. Its Trout's team again and he's gonna have a breakout year. We're literally an Ace and a bat away from contending. And everyone's jumping ship like cowards. I got a lot of faith in this year. And its gonna surprise a lot of people
For padres fans, Randy Vasquez has more than 2 pitches lmfao. Fastball/sinker/cutter/ sweeper/change up. He gets excellent horizontal movement on his sweeper and it pairs well with his sinker. Chaneup has good movement. It’s all about command and harnessing his movement.
Regarding Mets 3B battle: Braves signed Donaldson for a 1-year around the time that Austin Riley was about ready and that worked out. Mets could do similar
Reds are gonna be so interesting. Crazy deep but no established stars. Veteran wise it is the 3-4 year guys (Indy, Stephenson, Greene) as mainstays/leaders but as vets Montas has been praised already, Suter is a guy, Maile took over last year as a big clubhouse guy
Giants are DESPERATE for anyone of note to come there. They maybe overpaid a bit to get a decent OBP bat and mediocre defender to play in the devil's triangle.
I agree with what you guys said about situational hitting except the interview every player bit. Elite players often don’t know what they are doing that works. You ask Pujols or ARod what their approaches were and it is completely different than what they were doing. ARod thought he was squishing the bug and getting on top of the ball. But he wasn’t. That is why he is the best infielder of all time. Justin Turner was actually doing those things and that was why he was a below average major leaguer until he changed. So just interviewing players only does so much. But analyzing how players actually approached different situations does show you they are doing things differently.
Angels need to pay Rendon to leave… just defer his remainder to like 7 mil a year for the perpetuity of his life and let him get away from the sport he hates.
I think the real Mets storyline will be, "who in the rotation will make a career turnaround?" Sevy was garbage last year, Menaia has been bad since leaving Oakland, Quintana is meh, and Peterson and Megill have been bad since 2022. The rotation is full of questions and the only answer is Senga.
"President of baseball ops, gm, who gives a shit" is a bold bold quote from a guy who was found and given lots of money from people with those titles he doesn't care about lmao
Jackson Holliday feels like the one young prospect I’d bet on not taking the early deal. His dad made around $150m in his career I believe. Why would Jackson take a discount? His dad was a Boras guy too so not sure if he is with him also. Maybe Adley and Gunnar extend. But Jackson feels like the dude that is going for position player contract records
IF the blue jays have a culture it’s a bad one. It’s a culture of being the loud cocky middle schoolers who think they’re the biggest badasses on the block but always lose.
I'm assuming Jimmy means on Twitter, the people who aren't really people, cause I'm an Astros fan and follow everything you guys do and know other real Astros fans who like TB at least or at worst are indifferent.
I am a die hard fan since the very beginning, but I gotta be honest the show is getting a bit boring compare to many podcasts out there. There’s so much potential for this show, and would love to see more on editing and perhaps change the background. Much love
Finally no one gets it. Holliday is good not better than gunnar right now. I dont get why everyone is saying he is our SS. He is our 2nd baseman. He might break camp but probably wont. If he doesnt, I dont know why no one has mentioned this. We need another middle infielder either a 2nd or 3rd Baseman. If holiday is not up, urias will be stating 3rd baseman or 2nd with westburg and gunnar with mateo sprinkled in with no one else. We lost frazier.
With the Bill James thing, you guys need to better characterize exactly what he said, as well as what a good chunk of analytics people have actually been claiming about situational hitting because I think you were sort of attacking a strawman. A lot of the analytics advocates that I know don't deny that situational hitting exists. I'm an analytics guy, but I also played for 13 years of baseball at some level and its clear that some guys just handle the bat better than others in certain situations. However, its still not clear at all that CLUTCH exists, and James seems to be agnostic on the question. I tend to lean toward it either not existing or that its existence is highly overstated. And by clutch I mean the idea that some players have a baseline level of performance that somehow gets elevated when the stakes get higher. The statistical evidence for any effect like that is still very suspect. So I would make a distinction between that and situational hitting.
I can't fathom how people want fans of other teams on the show, the chemistry between the guys is the reason I watch, throwing some nerd from the mid west on here will only detract from the show
I left the Braves voicemail, sorry but I just assume all our Free agents leave to the Dodgers at this point. Just seems inevitable. Dear God I hope I'm wrong for sure though!!
What free agents? Max Fried's and Marcel Ozuna's contracts expire at the end of the season, but the rest of the lineup is signed to long-term deals...all of them.
Jimmy I’m confused, on the Altuve extension episode all I saw was Astros fans saying that they love the show. Maybe it was on X or something, and I know there’s lots of fans who get hot real fast. I just want you to know you’re not a pos.
@55:00 2 things that smart people try to big brain and end up being too cute about: 1. Momentum, clutchness, the hot hand, etc. don't exist 2. Losers lose and sometimes it's as simple as that
People hate on the Twins because it’s really not that good of a roster (either 5th or even 6th in AL East) but they just have such a strong playoff shot became they play in the worst division in the sport. We need 2 expansion teams and then realignment to get rid of the centrals. Just 2 leagues with 2 8 team divisions in the East and west splitting up the 5 central teams and one new expansion. That is how it should be. Central teams should actually be good to deserve October.
