Thank you for asking this important question! It's crucial to shed light on issues of race and cultural experiences. From my personal experience, I've found that Japanese people are generally respectful and kind towards black people. We had no issue navigating the country and felt no racism there
Excellent video! You are great! Thanks for mentioning the culture. Japan is a place truly driven by its culture and things like not disturbing the public space are important for visitors to adapt to. Those going should definitely learn cultural points. With current over tourism doing so will improve your trip and make life for the Japanese better. Remember English is not commonly spoken and when it is may not be fluent. 7 Eleven's have international ATMs. You can also get food other than Japanese as well. I ate good Middle Eastern food too. Be kind to Kyoto, tourism throws a lot at the residents and we want to lower the impact.
We hopped around a lot during the trip so not just one place. However, all of those details will be in our upcoming videos thank you for the support to our channel.
Hello all! I was wondering if it is practical to do day trips to Osaka from Kyoto? Meaning, if my wife and I had the appropriate rail cards and used the right transportation methods would it then be practical to stay in a hotel in Kyoto and train to Osaka for a couple of day trips? Thank you for your time!
Thank you so much for watching! We're glad to hear that our excitement and shock came through in the video. Japan is such an amazing country to explore and we're thrilled to share our experiences with you!
Question: While I've been to Japan twice, I've never taken any domestic flights. Will JAL or ANA allow me to pay for a domestic flight with cash, or will they insist on me using a credit card?
Thank you for your question! JAL and ANA both accept cash as a payment option for domestic flights. It's always nice to have different payment methods available, so you can choose what works best for you during your travels. You would just have to go up to the airport to pay for it
Loved your video I got a lot of good information. I have to work with that QR code application it will not scan my passport I tried over and over. I will be in Kyoto what's the best way to take a day trip to Osaka? If you know or anyone else that is reading this are the LGBTQ community accepted?
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm thrilled that you found the video informative. I'm sorry to hear about the trouble with the QR code application. It can be a bit finicky at times. When it comes to taking a day trip to Osaka from Kyoto, I would suggest taking the train. It's a convenient and efficient way to travel between the two cities.Honestly I cannot speak on LGBTQ but from everything i've experienced they were very welcoming. Enjoy your time in Japan!
I manually entered the passport info on the QR code site and it worked OK. There should be a lot of information online for LGBTQ travelers as there has been for several years at this point. Kyoto is very special. Try to use the new tourist express bus route there as the locals have trouble getting to work and appointments sometimes when tourists take over the regular local buses.
Marcie! Long Time no see, I hope all is well with you! Thank you so much for the support! japan is an amazing place to see I hope you have an amazing time there. Lots more tips to help you navigate the country
Great, detailed, and useful information! Did you guys experience a lot of racism there? My husband and I are an interracial couple and always like to hear others experiences. I know we have to navigate the US too, but since we live here we know how to do that - places to avoid, etc.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave such a positive comment! I'm glad the information resonated with you. In terms of racism, we did not experience it at all. In fact, Japanese people mind their business and pretend like you're not even there. I loved that, no stares or anything. But it's important to remember that this is our experience. There are always good and bad people in every place.
Thank you so much for your excitement! We had an incredible time exploring Japan, and we're thrilled that you're looking forward to the next video. Stay tuned for more amazing content!
all these tips are so helpful. Japan hasnt been on my travel list and i think its just because its so intimidating, specially with the language barrier. will have to circle back to this video once im ready to travel!
I'm glad you found the tips helpful! Don't worry, Japan can be a bit intimidating at first, but with a little preparation and an open mind, you'll have an amazing time!
I really appreciate your shout out! It means a lot to us. We worked hard to fit in as much as we could in that week, and I'm glad it showed. Definitely tired but glad we have no regrets
Have a blast in Japan !! Safe trip !! ( where in Japan are you gonna visit ? I highly recommend Kyoto & Yamaguchi, Okayama ,Hokkaido & Tokyo !! I'm originally from Tokyo ,though I've been living in the States for 35 years )💜🥁🐉🎤🎶✈️🇯🇵💞
Your accurate and detailed travel information is A+++ Please come back again ! For the additional information. 1, Most of Japanese people have coffee in the afternoon. If you need a cup of coffee in early morning, go to the any 24 hours convenence stores. You can get a nice freshly and tasty ground coffee in less than 3 US doller from the coffee vending machine. 2, If you buy clothes, take 2 to 3 size bigger. I wear XL in US, but 3XL(or somethoms 4XL) in Japan
Your comment made my day! I really appreciate your feedback and I'm thrilled that you found the travel information accurate and detailed. I'll make sure to come back with more helpful tips in the future. Thank you!

🌺💜Weren’t you amazed at how clean the city streets and sidewalks were with so many people moving around? The Cherry Blossom Trees were the most beautiful in the Spring💗
I was blown away by how clean everything was! It made strolling through the city even more enjoyable. Kudos to the amazing people who keep the streets spotless!
Thank you for your kind words! I'm happy to hear that the tips were useful to you. Remember, sometimes the most memorable experiences are worth the extra cost. We did our trip fairly inexpensive and will have more details coming soon about that!

Thank you for your kind words! I'm glad you found the tips useful. It's always great to hear that I could help fellow vegetarians navigate Japan's food scene. Enjoy your travels and have a fantastic time!
@ChewsToExplore Yay ! Thanks ! I am originally from Tokyo & I live in L.A. ( for a long ,long time ,I've been living in the States for 35 years !! Almost 36 years !! ) But,your tips will be very useful for other vegetarians visiting Japan for sure !! It's just very tricky ,as Japanese foods are based on Bonito broth ,almost 99 % of all dishes !! Lol. And the ingredient labeles don't include or specify all ,you see them saying " amino acid ,ETC." That etc .means Bonito broth !! I confirmed that w Japanese tradition senbei = crackers company customer service's supervisor back in '99 in Japan. I was so shocked !! 😲 So,be careful ! If you see " amino acid ,ETC." 👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
@ChewsToExplore Thank you ! I'm originally from Tokyo ,but been living in the States for almost 26 years ! I'm sure that your tips will help other vegetarians visiting Japan !! But,please be careful with ingredient says " amino acid ETC." That means Bonito broth !! Lol I was shocked when I was told by a Japanese traditional cracker ( " senbei " ) company's supervisor ! 👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
Back in the late 70's / 80's ,there were so many incidents of dead newborn babies found in those coin lockers in all over in Japan ,so we used to be terrified to use one / open one hoping not to see a dead baby in there !! 💔
@elysiaxox Yea,I am very ashamed of that culture !! Very disturbing. It really broke my heart !! Youngsters or women just left their newborns in coin lockers to die !! It is a murder !! I support women rights, off course & some abortions, but basically we should know we don't have the right to kill any living things !! But for women under certain circumstances, I totally understand it is too difficult/too much ( like rapes & insest ) . Thank you so much for your reply !! 🙏 💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞p.s.I support birth control.
Thank you for sharing this interesting piece of history. It's always fascinating to learn about different cultural experiences and the impact they have on people's lives. So horrifying to hear all of that
@ChewsToExplore Thank you ! As kids ,we used to be terrified to use coin lockers at train stations ,sometimes we even joked about it ! But,it was never a fun ,to me ,at least ! I am proud of Japanese culture & inventions ,technologies, but at the same time, there are many certain things I cannot be proud of ! That was one of things .I knew many kids at school did have abortions. That was another dark memory. Thank you so much for your replies !! 🙏💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💕💞
You totally can !! Stay in Tokyo for 3 nights & stay in Kyoto for 3 nights or 4 ,make a day trip to Osaka & another in Nara . Then last night in Tokyo & fly out the next day .If you use capsule hotels or business hotels, you'll be saving lots of money & you'll be so close to train stations ,so that'll save times & more money .💜🥁🐉🎤🎶🇯🇵💞
Kyoto is usually a very expensive place to visit or stay ,but using capsule hotels/ business hotels will make a huge difference !! They run between $20--$50/ night . They're super clean & come w lots of amenities that you'll not find in U.S.or U.K.,Europe. Lol. Many offer happy hours or free drinks / snacks ,too ! Some got hot spring " onsen " even !! As well as Manga book hotels where you can read Manga 📚 & stay over in tiny rooms ,capsule style bedrooms . 💜
Thank you for sharing! It's always nice to connect with someone who has similar interests. Let's keep working hard and inspiring each other to explore more!
1. The bullet train is a definite experience, and the pass used to be worth it but not anymore since the price more than doubled. But if you take like one round trip it’s definitely worth it. 2. The tax free stuff can be claimed sometimes at the store itself. No need to wait for the airport.
thanks for the feedback, I can defintiely see your perspective. I could agree before the price for the pass could have been more reasonable but it is not an experience that I valued. Much more affordable options on the bus or plane . Also great that you pointed that out. I did mention that in Uniqlo they also let me claim it before and some stores have 2 prices for tax and no tax price
And I think the bullet train tickets are point to point so you won't be buying "round trip" tickets. There are so many trains each day between major cities (like every 30 minutes between Tokyo and Kyoto) that I wouldn't stress about getting a train. (unless you are there and traveling on one of their holidays)
