Blew our belt on the highway, but fortunately right before an off-ramp. Felt like I was running over sand or gravel as it was shredding. My guardian angel was there for me - practically coasted into a truck repair shop where we stayed till morning, and had a belt delivered in the morning. WHEW! Never again without a spare!

Stock up on relays also. a bad relay can leave you stranded as well.

Kevin, Thank you so much for this video!!! I watched it 3 times before trying this on our " new to us 2004 Pace Arrow MH" w/ the 8.1. I used the cheater pipe on the spring method and the Gates belt was so tight that I seated it on the dampener as the last pully, and then pushed it up and onto the tension idler, as it had a nice radius. No WD-40 required. Hope you don't mind the change up. Mike

Embarked on first trip with kids and I have same chassy so have watched lots of your videos. I actually put the same fuel pressure guage in mine from your videos!:) 30 miles from Jackson wy, bam plant plant plant. My belt broke!I was lucky enough to literally coast into a campground. I didn't know the correct belt, but I went to napa and actually tried to call you for help - my only hope! Finally I got ahold of an rv shop in Idaho that told me the correct belt and I was able to somehow get the old partially broken belt put and put the new belt on. Honestly, would not have been able to do it without your videos especially the ac bypass one!:) Thanks and much appreciation, it literally saved our trip! -tim

Thanks for the video on the serpentine belt change. I just crawled out from under my motorhome while vacationing in Key West at Boyd's Campground. I made the mistake of not having a spare belt but there's a CarQuest about a block down from Boyd's and they had it delivered to their store early this morning. The maintenance guys here let me borrow a 3/8" drive ratchet and with your video the job got done without a whole lot of hassle. I will definitely keep a spare belt in the motorhome from now on and a 3/8" ratchet.

Thank you so much for the belt/pulley tip! My chassis AC wouldn’t hold a charge and I tracked it to the compressor. About a month later, the comp started getting noisy. I really wasn’t ready to deal with it and looked around for comp adapters, but your tip allowed me to use the RV and still go on trips. Thank you again!

I have a P32 2004 Had to buy a ratchet with the ability to extend the handle. Helped a lot. Also my unit did not have much room so had to remove the entire dog house. It is now screwed in not glued in. Thanks for the video

Kevin My W22 has a squeeling noise coming from the serpentine belt. So I checked it today and it is split into like it has to belts just like the problem you had. Glad I watched your video that bit of info about a small piece of metal stuck in a pully was great! I was going to have the belt changed but after watching you change it with one hand I think I will give it a try. Thanks Earnie

While your at it buy 2 belts so you will have a spare. While the belt is off check your idler pulleys if you have any questions text or call my cell 606-875-0125 Kevin.

Hello, I appreciate all your videos on RVs! Thanks for doing what you do! I have a 2001 class a windsong by forest river with a w22 workhorse vortec 8.1L engine and was hoping you may have some advice for me. I bought this rig 2 weeks ago, started it last one week ago.. never had any issues starting it until today.. went to turn the key over and not a single sound or light is lighting up.. just acting like it’s entirely dead.. so I am a bit concerned.. I cannot imagine the battery that powers the motorhome to be completely dead just by sitting for a week with nothing on besides a couple of map lights for an hour or two.. everything else in the RV is working, electrically speaking, but nothing in the front is suddenly. I have not touched any electrical components in the RV besides jacks but it was been hooked up to a 30 amp connection when I used lights and the jacks.. Would your first step be to check the battery itself? If it’s not the battery causing the issue what would you do next?

Kevin, I changed mine last week. Got to thinking, what do you use to monitor temp on the Allison. Mine is a W22 with the 6 speed 1000 in it, so the normal scangauge 2 wont read it. Do you have a solution for yours?
@ktoutdoor
@ktoutdoor 2 года назад
We have the 5 speed so our scangauge2 gives me the temp. If I had a six speed I might use this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-T0ezHdCoLKk.html they are programmable also to set off a alarm if it gets to hot. all you have to do is bolt it to the oil pan or clamp to oil line. you can buy them hear www.thermomart.com/DIGITAL-FAHRENHEIT-TEMPERATURE-CONTROLLER-GAUGE-ALARM-ENGINE-WATCHDOG-CAR-OVERHEATING-PROBE

Great info! Thanks so much. My belt was definitely due for replacement. One question, there is evidence that something has worn into the top side of the belt. I looked all over for a bolt that had backed out or something else that could have contacted the top of the belt. Nothing found. Any ideas? (It’s a 2008 Itasca Sunrise 36’)
@ktoutdoor
@ktoutdoor 2 года назад
That is a head scratcher for sure.. What I would do is put the new belt on and keep checking on it from time to time to see if there are any signs of ware like you saw on the old belt. If I can be of any help my cell is 606-875-0125 Kevin

Kevin, I have a question for you. My W22 motor gets a squeeling noise coning from the serpentine belt. Did you ever come accross this issue?
@ktoutdoor
@ktoutdoor 2 года назад
You need to confirm if its a belt slipping squeal or a bad bearing noise be careful and try to get a wrench or socket on the belt tensioner bolt while its making the nose add more tension your self to see if it goes away. Give me a call or text 606-875-0125 Kevin

Great content! I just purchased a 2007 Adventurer 38T and when I turn the engine on there's a a constant really loud squeaking noise and it continuously squeaks when driving also. I took a quick look at the belt and it looks to be in good condition - no cracks. I did notice that, what I think is the power steering pully, has a slight wobble when running. Could this be what's causing the squeak? If not, how can I narrow down what is causing the squeak? Also when I spray the area where the PS pully is or just the belt with silicone WD40 the noise stops, but I can hear a really light high pitched noise and then eventually the squeaking starts again. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hard to believe, but I think I missed one of your videos! What is that unit with the antenna to the left of your temperature gauge atop your dash? Another thing that may help to cool the engine longer is to turn the heater up full blast. That helped me one time when my engine was running hot.

It is a tire pressure monitor receiver. Remember the belt is broken so no water pump = no heat.
