Stage was tiny, because the concert was on the cruiseship M/S Baltic Princess

The drummer is Kai Hahto, second drummer of NW and good friend of first one Jukka Nevalainen, who had severe insomnia issues and had to stop drumming. Jukka is still involving at the business side of the band. Kai is also drummer of the band Wintersun, and a well recognized Pearl artist. To check his abilities, from Nightwish I recommend "Devil & the Deep Dark Ocean" @ Buenos Aires. From Wintersun I recommend "Sons of winter and stars".

Kai is better than good as a drummer. But never overstated. Try Wintersun as well.

This completely shocked me in concert. I was about fifteen feet from Marko, so I could easily tell that HE wasn't doing the growl . . . wait . . . WHAT ? ? ? Happy New Year, and Happy Birthday, Charlene !

"Microphones were too soft", yeah, i don't understand why some people keep recommending this cruise version. The Wembley or Tampere version of this song is much better.

As pm‘ed to Sharlene, I personally prefer the Wembley version. Sure you‘re going to love it as well. You should give it a listen/watch as well.

Unfortunately Jukka had to quit playing in 2014 because of chronic insomnia issue, while they were recording the 8th album Endless Forms Most Beautiful, so he asked his good friend Kai Hahto to replace him and finish the album and do the upcoming tour while he deals with his insomnia. Unfortunately he never came back, they waited till 2019 for him to make the final decision, which is when he announced he is not coming back and then Kai was finally made a permanent member. Jukka was amazing with his style and energy, will be missed forever, but we are more than lucky to get Kai as replacement cause he is amazing drummer and person, became Nightwish family immediately. He used to drum for Wintersun. Fortunately Jukka is now fine and is still with the band as manager and director of Nightwish company.

BTW this video was recorded on a cruise boat so maybe that effected what they could capture or just bad mix?. .. I recommend re-watching this one but from Mexico or Wembley instead for better audio...

Jukka was a better performer overall but on just drumming ability kai is better and even then in nightwish he plays what's needed, he performed previously with wintersun

The last live concert Nightwish released, was recorded in 2018 at Buenos Aires and came out December 6 2019. You should listen to a song or 2 from that concert. The band didn't hold back on this CONCERT like (DEVIL AND THE DEEP DARK OCEAN )AND ( ELVENJIG / ELVANPATH) These 2 songs will blow you away.

Happy Birthday Sharlene (albeit a day late)! I love you guys' reactions, not only are you quite emotional about it, you really do know what you're talking about. Makes it really fun to watch. I'd love to see you get into Delain, a symphonic metal band from the Netherlands. "Sing to Me" and "The Gathering" are great songs which both also feature Marko as a guest. "Ghost House Heart" is a great ballad. To mention only a few.

I don't think I realised if was Floor doing the growling until about the 3rd time I watched the original clip. She is an incredible vocalist, and I've loved her presence since I first saw her touring with Nightwish back in 2013. If you're interested in a different band to check out, a personal favourite of mine is Ne Obliviscaris - a Progressive Black Metal band from Melbourne, Australia. Their song And Flower Plagues the Kaleidoscope is studied at the Sydney Conseveratorium of Music. I'll try to avoid spoiling anything about it, but it's on the long side (might need an ad blocker to stop the song being interrupted) and has some incredible musicianship and composition. Kai is a very good drummer and has made the transition seamless. A good description of Jukka's style of drumming is he looked like he was a jockey. That forward leaning into it, was definitely a fun and enthusiastic look for a drummer.

Interested in Kai's drumming ? I'd suggest "Weak fantasy" from Wembley 2015 or Tampere. 👍🏻👍🏻🙏🏻 As someone told, comparing the 2 drummers, Jukka was fighting the drums, pure passion. Kai drums like a machine with perfection. Both of them are outstanding.

You guys didn't do anything wrong, but it's clear that RU-vid is pushing that video to the top when people search this song, which is frustrating because the Wembley Arena performance is much more spectacular. They sound great here, and seeing them is one of the very few reasons I would be on a cruise ship, but that has to be one of the smallest stages they've played on. The past 9 months have been a similar experience for me, having stopped paying much attention to the band after the first album with Anette (who I do like, but...), so finding out about Floor and hearing what they've done with her on vocals has probably been the highlight of an otherwise shitty year.

Old drummer Jukka handpicked Kai as his replacement, was done in talks, no fight or argue, Jukka is still in Nightwish, but behind the scenes, merch mostly. Jukka "got in to every swing" and he's the master of the odd tining.. you tap along with your foot and he keeps throwing you off

I hadn't heard this version before. I know a lot of people say that the Wembly version is better but I think I can hear Floor's growls better in this version. Anyway, I think think its so cool that someone with such an amazing and beautiful voice can do growls too. I also really think Marko deserves a lot of credit. He's got a great voice and awesome bass skills too.

I don't comment often but I think you are right about the mix, can be better.. The style of Kai is different than Jukka's style, he avoid all unnecessary movements that are not linked with a beat and if you watch Wintersun - Sons of Winter and Stars you will understand it. There are no "no good" drummers in Nightwish. Mr Kai Hahto is very respected drummer and drumming teacher here in Finland. His physical appearance is very different than Jukka's, but they are both great. This is one of the angriest Nightwish songs, where Marko is laughing and Floor is growling. Great! One of the most energetic performances to this song. Haha, floorless. 😅
